El Cotillo is located on the west coast, and is the town located further north on this coast.
It is an important town, of fishing and tourist character, but without crowds, since the offer focuses mainly on apartments for rent on the beaches of the north and small aparthotels, as well as a new 3-star hotel.
This town is surrounded by beaches, some of the best in Fuerteventura: to the north, about 2 kilometers away, we find Los Charcos, next to the Lighthouse, and in the north of the town, the urban beaches of La Concha and Los Lagos, white sand and turquoise waters, while in the south of the town is Piedra Playa, with golden sand, and more than 2 kilometers long, where Surf and Kitesurfing are practiced.
In El Cotillo you also have to visit its fishing port, well protected by a large natural rock, and a few restaurants specializing in fresh fish.
In the port, it is common to see how the local fishermen unload their catches, and it is nice to take a walk from here to the old natural cove located to the north, where before was the fishing port.
You can also visit the Defensive Tower of EL TOSTÓN, with a good general view of the town and Piedra Playa.
