Nicola and Patricia were great host and showed us how everything worked. The property is peaceful and my entire family loved our stay. When back to Aix-en-Provence, we will stay here.
Great location in Aix and a nice house. The place needs a bit of work and updates to bedding, for example, and the host should hire a cleaning service.
Given the great location and ample room for our clan, we were happy with our stay.
Loved this house. The home was old but with modern amenities. The yard was magical. Our host quickly responded to our needs and questions. Overall, a wonderful stay in Aix.
Nico and Patricia's home is so historic, and beautiful, clean and comfortable, and perfectly situated. For six days we were within 3 to 10 minutes of walking from the other worldly baked goods, high quality very reasonably priced restaurants, cobbled streets, and the bustling markets of Aix. Nico and Patricia were so hospitable, easy to communicate with, and very knowledgeable of the area (Nico grew up in this home). This was the perfect send off for our daughter's first college adventure. We will remember this trip forever in large part because of this home. It was money extremely well spent. We WILL do it again. And again . . .
I can’t say enough good things about this place. The property is beautiful, very well maintained and with a charming and very private back garden and pool. The location couldn’t be better. It is a very short walk to the center of town and all the shops and restaurants. Nicolas, our host, was very helpful and responsive. This was a long anticipated trip for us and it was everything we hoped for and more. I very much look forward to visiting Aix again and I would not want to stay anywhere else.

Comfortable villa in nice part of town
An enjoyable stay in a nicely restored villa situated in a decent neighbouhood with good access to central Aix. Only reservation was access to off street parking down a very narrow street with poor access. Fortunately we had a very small car but anything larger would have significant problems.
Location was excellent. A bit challenging to maneuver a large SUV, but doable. We had a bit of trouble with the washing machine and a door handle that broke, but they sent someone the next day. Walking distance to the old city with lots of shops and restaurants. Weather wasn’t great, so didn’t get any use out of the pool.
Property is located just minutes from the old town and ideal to explore via foot. House is beautiful with lovely outdoor space and pool but be warned about insects...take spray. Inside 3 decent size bedrooms with 1 bedroom ensuite....The owner was easy to deal with and great with communication. The only negative which l hope is taken as positive critique.....house needs a deeper clean throughout......house was clean but could be better.......under beds and in kitchen draws etc
This home was fabulous! Walking down the street you'd never know it was there. But open the gate and you enter into a large, beautiful courtyard with a pool and spacious home. It was very private, quite, and PLENTY of room for our family of 5 adults. It was like our own Shangri-La in the middle of Aix. Easy walking to everything yet away from the noise. It was perfect! And the host was incredibly nice. He met us upon arrival to show us everything and even emailed us the next day to see if we needed anything. Terrific host! We enjoyed our stay very much!
The property was as lovely in person as presented in the listing. The beds were super comfortable. The amenities were great. Nico met us at check in and showed us every detail upon arrival, all the way down to showing us location of kitchenwares and switch operations. He also helped us and gave us tips on navigating the parking. There is in fact ample parking, but it requires some mental gymnastics to get in. If you pay attention to Nico it totally works. Though I highly recommend not renting an SUV. LOL. It was a beautiful home and we were very lucky to have found it in the heart of the city.
A wonderful relaxing home just a minute walk to Aix’s city center. The house is an oasis behind the gate with a pool and lovely private patio. We gathered at the house with family members who were also visiting Aix before going off to brunch or dinner. We loved the spaciousness of the house. Nicolas is an excellent host and communicated all the details in advance. The house is easy to go in an out for day trips and has parking on site. One note, Google maps doesn’t show blocked off streets so try another online map for the first arrival. I would definitely stay at the house again and recommend to family and friends.
We know Provence well, and stayed two weeks outside last year. This was our first time staying in a property inside the city.
It was marvellous!
First Nicolas was exceptionally helpful and communicative at all stages, from first questions to booking to arrival to throughout stay. Always responded immediately and always friendly and relaxed and helpful.
Second the property was a dream. A few minutes walk from all the attractions of Aix, yet still with garden and pool. There was a 39C heatwave while we there and we were in the pool a lot. A huge amount of shade which suited us, but perhaps not for the dedicated sunbathers..
I have been renting luxury villas throughout Europe for over 20 years, and this was one of the best, if not the best.
Thanks Nicolas and I plan to return.
Absolutely beautiful home with lovely period details in a quiet, centrally located neighborhood. The pool was a welcome refresher to a hot summer trip. All the cooking equipment needed for making meals from the fresh produce available in the farmer’s market. It’s a short walk to downtown, bakeries, a corner market, the beautiful main church, and restaurants. Beds are very comfortable, plenty of hot water, relaxing couches and large table for meals. The check-in process was a bit stressful as there was no one there to meet us and the owner was out of the country and couldn’t be reached. After about 30 minutes wondering if we needed to get a hotel, the person showed up and we got settled in fine (she thought we were arriving at a later time). The wifi was non-functional and attempts by the friend of the owner to provide a hot spot helped somewhat, but the hot spot only worked sometimes. The owner provided a discount and he was easy to work with. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend the property.
The villa is in a perfect location with a very short walk into the old city center. As we were there in the middle of the summer it was nice to have a pool to utilize. It is Nicolas' family home and he is a wonderful host. He was extremely accommodating, allowing us to check in early as our train arrived early and we needed a place to store our luggage. He even left work early to meet us and get us checked in. The villa is very charming and has all the amenities you need. Having parking is so convenient. It is somewhat tricky to park (you have to back down a narrow street to pull into the driveway of the home) but once you get used to it, it was fairly straight forward. You definitely want to have an additional person available to guide you as you back up but I assume anyone looking at this villa would not be a solo traveler. Nicolas was helpful with suggestions of restaurants and even bought some bags of ice for us (knowing our American predilection for lots of ice with our drinks). I would return in a heartbeat here. Aix is a perfect location to explore Provence and their villa is a perfect place to stay in Aix.
The location is ideal for visiting Aix-en-Provence; you can walk everywhere. We enjoyed exploring the area. As mentioned, getting your car or SUV into the parking area is challenging and I’m glad we did not attempt at night. When arriving be sure to turn right off Boulevard Jean Jaurès the map directions took us the wrong way. The house was clean however, we did feel a deeper clean was in order, perhaps it was the end of the season. AC is only in the bedrooms. The pool was fine, the courtyard needs sprucing up along with new lounge chair cushions would be nice. Perhaps a few potted flowering plants and a professional gardener would do the trick. It had just rained so the mosquitos were fierce. The restaurant recommendations were spot on. We really enjoyed Mitch’s and highly recommend it. A short 20 minute drive is a fabulous winery called Bargemone and well worth a visit. The internet wasn’t working and although attempts were made to get it working they were not successful. Nicolas was very easy to work with and extremely nice. He did mention he ordered Starlink to solve the internet issues. Nicolas responded immediately to any concerns we had.
Honestly, as I reread Mark G's review I realized we had many of the same things to say:
1. The villa is in a perfect location with a very short walk into the old city center.
2. The pool was a nice bonus as it was warm while we were there.
3. Nicolas was a wonderful host. We had the same experience as Mark did: Nicolas was helpful with suggestions of restaurants and even bought some bags of ice for us (knowing our American predilection for lots of ice with our drinks).
4. We concur with everything said about parking. A bit tricky, but you get the hang of it and definitely helps to have a passenger who can be outside to guide you. It was nice to be able to park right on the property.
A few things we'd add: The living room had a good amount of seating and it was very comfortable. A great place to relax at the end of the day. The dining room chairs rock—literally and figuratively.
But, the absolute best part for us was the cat that lives outside on the property. My kids (18 & 21) could not get enough of the cat and we are dog people. She was the friendliest cat. She'd leave you alone if you wanted her too, but loved to hang out if invited. The cat will probably be my (adult) kids favorite memory from Aix. Note, the cat is outside, so no worries if you are allergic. She does her own thing unless approached, and then she is just the sweetest thing. We would stay here again..
Lovely place, temperature at 40C meant the pool and air conditioning were a godsend. Nicolas a delightful host and really welcoming and helpful. 5 minute walk from the centre of town which is beautiful. True you need a 3 or 4 point turn to reverse in and drive out, but we managed fine in a large SUV and a bit of patience. Recommended!
