Absaroka Cabins - Rustic, Carefully Restored Cabins

Charming, rustic cabins on the edge of the rugged Absaroka Mountain Range. The main cabin will accommodate up to four guests. Rental of the guest cabin allows up to four more guests and is an additional charge of $150 per night plus taxes and fees.

Minutes from unbelievable fly fishing on mountain streams, spring creeks, and the Yellowstone River.

Cabin has satellite TV and satellite Internet. (Internet is not suitable for streaming/downloading.)

Dogs are considered with owner approval and a fee. Please inform us at the time of booking of the number and age/weight/breed of the dog(s) you are planning to bring.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: These two renovated cabins boast a beautiful and secluded location at the edge of the Paradise Valley. On twenty private acres at the end of a dirt road, views of the valley and the rugged Absaroka Mountain peaks are nearly all that can be seen. Wildlife and bird viewing, as well as access to millions of acres of public lands, makes it a nature enthusiast's dream. In spring and early summer, nearby Six Mile Creek can be heard rushing down from the mountains.

GENERAL LOCATION: Thirty miles south of Livingston near Pray, Montana. Yellowstone National Park is only 30 miles away! The Gallatin Field airport, located just outside of Bozeman, is approximately an hour away.

STYLE/DECOR: Both of these cabins were moved from other sites and renovated in a comfortable, rustic style. The main cabin has a large front porch from which to enjoy the views. The second cabin (rented only in addition to the main cabin so as to protect guest's privacy), allows for larger groups to enjoy this wonderful home site. Both cabins have hardwood floors throughout and lots of windows.

SIZE: The main cabin is approximately 1000 square feet and the second cabin is an additional 600 square feet.

BEDROOMS/BATHROOMS: There is a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms between the two cabins. The main cabin has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a sunroom with a double bed, and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. The main cabin has one full bath. The guest cabin (affectionately called Mountain View Motel as it was, in fact, a motel cabin moved from Gardiner, Montana!) has two bedrooms, each with one double bed and two baths.

KITCHEN: The kitchen, dining and living areas of the main cabin are one big room, which gives the cabin a very homey feel. The kitchen is equipped with an electric range and oven, refrigerator, microwave, and all the necessary cookware needed. The kitchen table seats six comfortably. There is extra seating at the kitchen counter for a few more people. There is a gas grill for those outdoor meals.

LIVING ROOM: The living room adjoins the kitchen and dining area. Comfortable furniture is situated around the woodstove providing a nice space for end-of-the-day relaxing. There is a television with satellite TV and a VCR, satellite Internet, plus a radio with a CD and tape player. As with many of our homes, due to the home's location, internet can not be guaranteed for downloading and streaming.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Enjoy fine hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting and all that the Paradise Valley has to offer. A day trip to Yellowstone National Park is a definite must! Just a short drive away is Dailey Lake - fun for fishing, swimming and a hot spot for local windsurfers, as well as Chico Hot Springs. If you don't want to get in the car, you can take a day hike right out the back door of the cabins. There's so much to do!

The getaway we needed!
We read the reviews and descriptions provided but this place is just beyond all that! A true getaway. We canceled one day of our busy schedule just to stay in this cabin, cook, play games, and wonder around in the land. We’ll be back.

Gorgeous Emigrant Peak
Love this location and can’t say enough about this authentic log cabin !! We were there for the first 6-8” of snow for the season. We just stayed in and ENJOYED the view, atmosphere, wood stove. We did some hiking around the cabin mostly just enjoyed the quiet and the views. Chuck couldn’t have been nicer. Met him day we arrived. Highly recommend. Back porch is the best.

Home away from home
My family and I were sad to check out! We loved this cabin so much. It instantly felt like home. It's also close to great places to eat and also Yellowstone and not far from Bozeman. And the screened in porch! That was me and my husband's go to every evening and morning. We will be renting here again for sure!

Perfect getaway
Staying here was exactly what we needed! Too often people drown with their faces in electronics, this home made us step away from that. Sure, there is WiFi on the property, but you don’t need that with all the property has to offer. Horseshoes, frisbee, Mountain View’s, nearby creek, fire pit, walking trail... it has everything! We rarely spent time inside, and when we did we played cards or Yahtzee! Yellowstone is only a short 30 minutes away, and you’re also near the Yellowstone River. We spent a lot of time searching for cool rocks and came back with quartz, jasper, and agates. The walking trail led us to bones and bear poo, but we’re in the wildlife, and we expected nothing less. Overall 10/10 on this home and we will definitely be coming again! Andrea

!st Montana visit
I cannot say enough good things about our stay at the Absaroka Cabin. The cabin (both main and guest cabin) were very clean. The kitchen is huge and stocked incredibly well. It had every kitchen utensil & appliance one would ever need. Very impressive! We just loved the overall cozy feel of the cabin and all the old photos and artwork throughout. The location is great as well. Only 30 miles to Yellowstone and so many beautiful hiking trails close by. It really is a little slice of heaven. Calm, peaceful and surrounded by majestic mountains. It was magical! Maria

Absaroka Cabins
We enjoyed staying at the cabins very much. It was a bit further from Yellowstone N. P., that we would have preferred, but we still loved the location of the cabins. We could not see another house nor another vehicle until we left the property. It was set in the middle of a hollow with mountains and foothills all around. It was just a wonderful location for staying in modernized log cabins. There was truly all we needed in the cabin except for major food items and our clothes. We absolutely would stay there again.

I want to come back every year
This was a perfect home base and retreat for a couple of nature lovers busily spending our days hiking, photographing and exploring. Plenty of room inside and out. Secluded, cozy but close enough to all the places we wanted to visit. I could have happily stayed for months!

Perfect
We chose this cabin because we wanted a real montana experience.with just an hour drive from bozeman and our flight arriving at 12:30 we stopped at the museum of the rockies had lunch and bought some supplies when we arrived at the cabin we were met with a beautiful rainbow on the mountain behind the cabin. Yellowstone was 30 minutes away and we spent the first 2 days hiking the lamar valley and driving the grand loop. We saw wolf coyote elk pronghorn and bison in the northeast part of the park . The last 2 days we spent backpacking in the beaten path trail in the beartooths and were surprised by a huge bull moose that appeared in the timber just 100ft from us what a thrill! This cabin had everything you could want even bearspray for backcountry hikes ,it has a special feel and and very comfy beds. The cabin is set so you feel the wide open spaces of montana we loved it!

initial hiccups but fantastic experience overall
We stayed in the location for 3 nights and we had a very positive experience coming from a huge Houston like city. Initially, we had very difficulty finding the home and got scared since it was getting really dark. However, once we reached the destination, the home was exceptionally good and the attention to details was simply amazing. I have stayed in Airbnb, vrbo and homeaway many times over last 3+ years but i do rate this home more favorable than others. Overall, a lovely experience that we would remember for a long time

We loved it
We loved the cabins. The only things we would change is maybe trimming the willows on the lane back a little bit. We did sustain a couple scratches on our truck from the willows. The second things which I don't think would be as easy to fix and that is more windows that open in the main living area. We would highly recommend this cabin and if we were to be staying in the area again we would stay there again

Our 8th stay at the cabin!
We discovered this cabin 8 years ago and have never been disappointed from our first visit to the one this year! We absolutely love the cabin and the location and think of it as home away from home! The view of Emigrant Peak is unbeatable! We love to hike up behind the cabin and enjoy the incredible views! The cabin is always equipped with all that we need. Mountain-Home is a pleasure to rent through, great customer service! We can't wait to return!

We really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable out the way place. Very clean, nicely equipped-even a dishwasher. It was a nice respite after our days in Yellowstone.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Although the driveway may seem to go forever, it is well worth the drive! The main house has a fully equipped kitchen with spices, condiments, coffee and more! Plenty of dishes for cooking of any kind. Laundry room, off kitchen, is perfectly out of the way. Charming decor and comfy clean blankets & linens. More than enough towels for everyone! Second house is perfect for allowing everyone their own space. The views from this hideaway are spectacular. Bunnies are waiting for when the sun wakes you. Stars and sky is breathtakingly beautiful. I have a camp of my own that I rent. After staying at your location, I now know I need to step it up a bit more. You have a fantastic place here! So glad you're willing to share! Thank you for having my Montana vacation stay be absolutely perfect!
