About this property

Harbour Loft, Port Isaac, harbour & beach views

Experience - The Area...This delightful cosy 15th century building, one of the oldest in the port, nestles in the very heart of this picturesque harbour of Port Isaac where the TV series Doc Martin was filmed. The renovated Harbour Loft is literally a stone's throw away from the waters edge and boasts arguably the best uninterrupted panoramic views of this exquisite bustling harbour and Cornish coastline.Beneath Harbour Loft is Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, TV chef Nathan Outlaw's most recent restaurant venture serving a variety of small seafood dishes sourced from the local fishermen's early morning catch - www.outlaws.co.uk/fishkitchenIt is possible to briefly unload outside Harbour Loft and parking is in the car park at the top of the village. On your doorstep, there is a choice of fish and chips, Cornish pasties, fishmongers and afternoon cream teas with freshly baked cakes. There is also a local pub with a good selection of foods and a grocery store at the top of the village about a quarter of a mile away. For a wider choice of amenities the market town of Wadebridge is about 9 miles. Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have small stoney beaches at low tide and the glorious sandy beaches on the Camel Estuary, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are all approximately a 15 minute drive. The South West Coast Path meanders out of the village in both directions offering spectacular scenery and there are three golf courses within easy reach. Stay - The Accommodation...Steeped in history, the Harbour Loft was originally two fisherman's cottages which now take up the entire upper level of this enchanting building. It retains much character with uneven floors and walls. It is entered directly from the street with a low front doorway and narrow carpeted staircase leading straight up to the hallway. The accommodation consists of a bathroom with saniflo toilet, hand basin, shower over the bath and heated towel rail, a snug/cot room with casual seating ideal for reading and two bedrooms in a simple relaxed decor. There is a double bedroom at the rear with a 5ft bed beneath a skylight window, and the second smaller bedroom has 2ft 6in twin beds. At the far end of the hallway, a low doorway leads into a quaint living room that spans the width of the cottage enjoying panoramic views of the tiny harbour with its fishing boats and the dramatic coastline. With the sound and sight of the sea close by and the sloping floors and ceilings you could almost believe you were on the deck of a galleon ship. On one side, a step leads down to a part fitted bespoke kitchen with painted wooden floorboards and a small dining suite set next to the window making the most of its harbour side location. On the opposite side, comfortable lounge seating overlooks the ever changing scenery and an ideal vantage point to watch the St Breward Silver Band and the famous Fisherman Friends perform on the quayside on summer evenings.Don't forget...- A weekly parking ticket currently costs £36.09p- Sorry, this property does not accept pets- £150 returnable security deposit required.

Stunning location
Quaint home. Highlight was watching the Cornish singers outside our window - quite magical. Seagulls were painfully noisy overnight and in the mornings so less keen on their song! The bars on the harbour were super noisy too which kept my young kids up. It would be helpful to list WIFI options to pay for and where abouts in Port Isaac you can get signal as I walked up various hills for 20 mins or so before I could get signal. Super convenient location, and the harbour is stunning regardless of weather and a great base for visiting the usual attractions. Parking is a pain as while we didn't mind the walk, we'd often have to wait 15-20 mins for a parking to become free - a couple of times we had to go elsewhere. The views, the location and the singing though outweighed any of the negatives and truly is lovely.

Gorgeous apartment, perfect location but no WiFi in COVID hit 2020
Nice little apartment with higgledy piggledy rooms. The living room/kitchen diner is particularly uneven and the doorway into it is very low. My husband and I are 5’10” and 5’9” (so not overly tall) and had to try to remember to duck to avoid a bumped head. Everywhere is spotless and the bed linen smelt gorgeous. The king size bed is very comfy. The wooden bed frame is quite squeaky though, shifting position was enough to wake each other up. Lots of hot water all the time which was fab, but it gets very hot, very quickly so be careful if you have children with you. The view of the harbour is simply perfect and the ability to people watch the tourists milling about is great. The location could not be better. With the benefits of the great location comes the downside of having no parking at the apartment. I think most houses/apartments in Port Isaac are the same though. We purchased a Rover ticket that can be used in council car parks throughout the area. This works from midnight to midnight so we decided it was best to pay for our first night and start the Rover at midnight on Sunday, then we didn’t need to rush to add a new ticket on our day of departure. The only major problem of this apartment is there is no WiFi. I’m all for putting your devices down whilst on holiday. But due to Covid everything has to be booked online e.g. a table in the pub, a visit to Tintagel etc. We also had no mobile phone reception and no mobile internet. And there is no phone in the apartment, as you would expect, but this meant we literally had no means of communication. We could see that other apartments nearby did have WiFi. I appreciate that the blurb about the apartment prior to booking is not going shout about the fact that there is no WiFi, but I would have appreciated the post booking information informing us of this or when I rang the housekeeper. At least I could have warned relatives, that were experiencing hear from us, of the situation and possibly pre-booked activities that needed internet booking.
