About this property

Spacious, comfortable 4-star, 3-bedroom, dog-friendly gite in woodland setting

Super quiet and tranquil accommodation that comfortably sleeps 6 people in 3 large bedrooms. There is a large garden (about 900sq m) with sun loungers, a covered patio area and garden furniture, BBQ and games. The garden is fully enclosed with wire mesh fencing for the safety of dogs and children. The whole property is surrounded by woodland, where we often see deer and wild boar, as well as lots of different bird species. There is almost no light pollution, so it's also grest for stargazing on warm summer nights.

Without doubt the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed at , everything was 100% right ,beautiful home beautiful grounds in a beautiful region of France with many things to see and do . Heerlijke ontspannen vakantie
Het verblijf was fantastisch: locatie is superstil, eigenaren uitermate behulpzaam zonder zich op maar enig moment op te dringen, en het huis was prachtig, ruim en voorzien van alle gemakken. Locatie stelt je in staat om in alle richtingen op ontdekkingsreis te gaan. Wij komen graag nog eens terug.

Excellent Séjour
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour et tenons à remercier Jackie et Simon pour leur accueil chaleureux, leur attention (panier de bienvenue). Cette longère entièrement restaurée au milieu des bois a été notre coup de coeur, le calme était appréciable (réveillés par le chant des oiseaux). Gîte très bien situé pour toutes nos visites dans la région. Nous recommandons cette adresse. Nous reviendrons certainement passer un séjour chez vous. Nous avons tous été ravis. Merci.

Great location to explore the Loire valley or just relax.
Fabulous location to explore the Loire valley. 15 mins to grocery store. The gite is well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen including a generous basket of food when you arrive. It’s very quiet and serene with a beautiful garden, outside eating area and outdoor games for the kids. It’s very accessible for those with mobility issues. We all loved the place and could quite happily live there long term! Thank you to our hosts!

Schönes Ferienhaus mitten im Wald
Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt und konnten die Ruhe genießen. Der komplett eingezäunte Garten war perfekt, so dass auch der Hubd seinen Urlaub genießen konnte. Der alte Hof wurde restauriert und bietet alles, was man benötigt. Für 5/6 Personen ist ausreichend Platz und die Betten bequem. Die sehr freundlichen Vermieter leben ebenfalls auf dem Gelände, was aber keinesfalls störend war. Es gibt einige Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge (Saumur, Angers oder die zahlreichen Schlösser) oder Radtouren und Spaziergänge. Check in und out ebenfalls super unkompliziert und angenehm. Also absolute Empfehlung!

Great Place, Lovely Owners, Lots to see and do
We really enjoyed our stay in Mouliherne. The house was imaculately clean and tidy and warm for our arrival and our greeting by Simon and Jackie equally warm. Our stay was enhanced by mostly good weather and Mouliherne is a lovely base to visit the Loire Valley and all its beautiful chateaux. We have no reservation in highy recommending this 5-Star property.

Another perfect visit
It was so lovely to return to Les Vieux Auberts for a second visit. Such a beautiful and relaxing place and we did as intended and just unwound and did very little. Simon and Jackie are perfect hosts and their dogs are so friendly and glad to see that they have added another dog to the pack. Another tasty welcome pack of food made such a good start too. All being well we hope to return for another visit. We can'r recommend this house highly enough. Thanks to you both.

Lovely rural retreat
We had a warm welcome from Simon and Jackie who were very helpful the property was very well equipped and comfortable with, everything you needed for a quiet and restful holiday. Amazing gite in a peaceful setting
This property is outstanding, the owners have thought about everything which made out stay amazing from start to finish. The communication prior to our arrival was very helpful, as was the lovely welcome pack. The very well equipped property was a delight to stay in, the facilities both inside and outside were of a very high quality and the beautiful garden was an absolute pleasure to spend time in. We especially enjoyed playing table tennis whilst enjoying a glass of wine!!!! The location of the property is very peaceful and there are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area. We found there was lots to do, from visiting château 's, tree climbing, exploring beautiful lakes and wandering around the nearby towns. Thank you Jackie and Simon for making our stay so wonderful.

Schöne Osterwoche im Loiretal
Liebevoll restauriertes altes Bauernhaus mit großem Gartengrundstück. Die Ausstattung ist sehr umfangreich und aus unserer Sicht mehr als komplett. Die Gastgeber sind extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit und haben unseren Aufenthalt schon im Vorfeld perfekt organisiert. Ein besonderer Service ist ein Willkommenspaket, mit dem man nach einer langen Anreise schon mal das erste Frühstück am nächsten Morgen genießen kann, ohne erst einkaufen zu müssen. Dazu gab es ein paar Produkte vom eigenen Hof. Viele Sehenswürdigketen sind in überschaubarer Zeit gut zu erreichen und abends und morgens kann man die Ruhe genießen. Ein perfekter Platz für die Erkundung des mittleren Loiretals.

New Year Getaway
This a clean and well-presented property that matches exactly what is marketed. We had a great time and found the location to be quiet and peaceful. We had a dog with us and the area was idea for walking and the ground to the property useful as well. The property turned out to be cosy and yet plenty big enough. The owners were pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Un gîte de charme calme et reposant
Nous recherchions un endroit à proximité de Saumur pour visiter aussi les alentours. Nous avions été séduits par l’annonce eh bien tout est conforme à ce qui est annoncé. L’accueil par les propriétaires est exceptionnel de gentillesse, à la fois disponibles et discrets, la propriété est superbement entretenue et vous êtes vraiment dans un environnement qui vous donne envie de prolonger le séjour. La partie du gîte vous permet de vous sentir « chez vous » avec un terrain clos et des équipements qui vous permettent de passer de bons moments. S’est certain ce gîte vous donne envie d’y revenir…. Merci à Jackie et Simon pour toutes leurs attentions au cours de se trop court séjour.

A delightful haven
A superb country home presented immaculately by hosts. Booking and confirmation was very easy, with the owners providing very clear instructions on how to get there - essential as it's tucked away in the forest! Plenty to do on site with table tennis and badminton, with a lovely covered space to dine outside in the warm evenings. Plenty more to do within a short drive; sailing and kayaking on the Loire, horse riding and golf all within 20 minutes, as is Saumur if you fancy dinner out. Or just stay and enjoy the silence in the forest. Everyone was very relaxed after our week and all sorry to be leaving

Lovely setting, suitable for all ages
We had a great holiday. A lovely setting in Beautiful grounds, very well equipped property with everything you need. Plenty of space for our boys to play. Great location for exploring Saumur and surrounding areas. Great hosts who have lots of information on the local area. We would love to go back.

We had a fabulous two weeks. Simon & Jackie welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable in their delightful gite. Very spacious with lovely grounds. Our dogs particularly enjoyed the generous, and fully enclosed, garden. Well placed for the attractions of the Loire the gite is also very quiet, and surrounded by gorgeous woodland. We would thoroughly recommend this gite and the delightful hosts.

The Perfect Gite
We loved our stay at Mouliherne and had a wonderful greeting from Jackie & Simon with a delicious welcome basket full of lovely produce. The surroundings and garden were so peaceful and the house was immaculate with everything we could wish for. The first place we've stayed with good sharp kitchen knives too. We also fell in love with their dogs. Thank you so much.

Un îlot dans la forêt
Si vous chercher un endroit au beau milieu des bois et en même temps à proximité des bords de Loire, vignobles, châteaux et autres vous êtes au bon endroit ! Ce gîte est irréprochablement équipé. De nombreux détails et attentions nous ont épatés ; Tout est fait pour que rien ne vienne déranger votre tranquillité !! Très confortables, les espaces de vie sont spacieux, lumineux. Les literies sont d'une excellente qualité. Jakkie et Simon sont d'une gentillesse et d'une disponibilité touchante et agréable ! De plus, nos deux chiens ont été réellement les biens venus et nous avons apprécié de nous sentir à l'aise quant à leur présence durant10 jours de véritables VACANCES. Merci à vous chers hôtes !

Very cozy old (but modern!) family house with all possible amenities, very friendly hosts, in the middle of the forest with deer and hare but only half an hour from Saumur and 10 min. from a supemarche with everything you'd need.

Vacances dépaysantes et ressourçantes
Des vacances géniales dans un environnement dépaysant, ressourçant et paisible. Des propriétaires au top, nous avons apprécié les moments échangés avec Simon et Jackie ainsi qu'avec les chevaux et les chiens. Une maison propre avec tout ce dont nous pouvons avoir besoin (même plus). Merci pour les cadeaux en arrivant. Bel espace dans une maison typique où nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous. Tout le monde a adoré même ma chienne. En plus de cela, propriété bien situé pour les visites. J'espère vraiment pouvoir y retourner très vite à d'autres saisons. A cette saison, c'était magnifique avec la couleur des arbres. Encore merci à Simon et à Jackie.

Jackie was in catering for many years but is now a housewife. I was a project manager for an Anglo-French company in the UK, but am now retired. We met when we were both at college, and got married in 1975. We used to live near the New Forest, and love the countryside.

Why they chose this property

We have holidayed in France for more than 35 years, and love the Loire. In 2016, we eventually decided to take early retirement and move here, and have not regretted a single minute. The property has all you could want, beautiful countryside, loads of trees and animal life, plenty of space, peace and tranquility. Did we mention the wonderful vineyards, châteaux, food and drink (and Le Mans!!).
