About this property

Stunning two bed stone cottage, large garden. In beautiful surroundings!

Set in the beautiful village of Queaux just a 40 minute drive south of Poitiers airport, on the edge of the Vienne river valley is this quaint 2 bedroom cottage. The views as you would expect are absolutely breath taking.

The village has everything you would need, including a bakers, butchers, a bar, hair dressers and an art gallery. The nearest large town of Montmorillon is reached in about 15 minutes by car following the banks of the Vienne.

There are lots of activities in the local area including fishing, water skiing, canoeing and bungie jumping! You can walk down to the river at the campsite where there is a babys pool, small riverside beach, crazy golf, boules and a small bar! The futuristic amusement/adventure park of Futuroscope can be reached within an hour by car and the stunning fishing village of La Rochelle in under two hours. The monkey sanctuary La Vallee des Singes is well worth a visit is just under an hour away. The house itself consists of an open plan ground floor that in true french style is a combined kitchen, dinning room and sitting room. This room has lovely oak beams on display and open fireplace that will keep the whole house warm in the winter months. Up the oak staircase is the rest of the accommodation which consists of two double bedrooms, the first mezzanine bedroom you enter from the stairs and then into the hallway where there is the bathroom and main bedroom, both about 11 square meters in size. Opposite the house is the large garden that is laid to grass and is full of fruit trees complete with hammocks and a BBQ. The house has all appliances you'll need i.e washing machine, oven, microwave, TV/DVD etc. Both the house and the village in which it is situated are really lovely and should you be looking for a pretty little house in beautiful countryside then this really is the place for you.

Cheap but so so for this little cottage

Lovely little cottage, but it wasn't clean on arrival. We could hardly have a shower. We could not wash hair as the water flow was very low. It is said there is 2 bedrooms, but in fact there is 1 bedroom and a sofa bed on a mezzanine.

Our stay in the cottage was nice and pleasant

The region was very beautiful with a fascinating history. The people in the village were very friendly. The village is quiet and peaceful. The cottage is charming, nicely decorated and comfortable. Only 3 less things: The beds were not arranged practically. You have to crawl over each other to get out. The pressure of the water is too low, so it takes a long time before you have hot water. The jet of the shower is therefor not strong. The garden is nice and big but not closed enough for a (big) dog. Because our dog could not run loose, we did not use it much. The wooden terrace is due for renewal. But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Yannick
