About this property

Rhos-Mawr. 2 Bedroomed Bungalow with spectacular views near Hay on Wye

With stunning open views over to Hay Bluff, your 2 bedroomed modern bungalow has everything you need to unwind away from everyday hustle and bustle. The property is situated at 900 feet above sea level and is surrounded by beautiful countryside - with most amenities only a maximum 25 minute drive away including Hay on Wye (with its famous Festival. bookshops and cafes) and Brecon (with its Theatre, market, shops and annual Jazz Festival). The Annual Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd is less than 10 miles away. Right on the doorstep there is wonderful walking across the Begwyns. Or ‘Wye’ not canoe from Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye down this popular stretch of the Wye River. Within an hours drive the Cathedral City of Hereford is waiting to be explored. A drive through the Elan Valley is not to be missed, or why not pop across the nearby border into England and take a tour of the ‘black and white villages’

Arriving at your holiday home, there is parking for 2 cars. The property has it’s own front entrance leading into a hallway off which all the rooms are located. The premises is connected to the owners own residence.

You will always find basic essentials await you after your drive. We get you started by providing tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal, eggs….and a home baked treat. Feel free to arrange a food delivery from one of the supermarkets to be delivered at your arrival time (don’t worry if you are running late – we will happily take in any delivery on your behalf). Asda, Sainsburys and Tesco all deliver. You will also find herbs, salt, pepper and cooking oil… things which you wouldn’t buy for just a few days but which you might need in the kitchen.

Your well equipped kitchen has all the appliances you need. A dishwasher, hob with separate oven,, microwave and fridge are all in the kitchen, whilst in the airing cupboard there is a tumble dryer and small freezer. Underfloor heating in the kitchen means that, even if its cold outside, you can pop the kettle on in the morning whilst enjoying heat under your feet.

The bathroom also benefits from underfloor heating, and has a towel rail for additional warmth. A multi head shower with good water pressure ensures a refreshing wake up at any time of the day.

The living room has sliding doors leading out to a large decked area with flower pots, a barbecue and table and seats for 4. The view from the room is spectacular looking down into the valley with Hay Bluff just a few miles away. Relax in your leather reclining sofa with a cup of tea or glass of wine and just enjoy the views, or take advantage of the provided binoculars and see how many different birds of prey you can spot. Red kites are regularly seen. There are books to read, a DVD player with a supply of family films, a stereo with a range of CD’s, a Wii with a selection of games, jigsaws and board games, so plenty of things to do if the weather keeps you indoors.

You are hopefully guaranteed a great nights sleep as there is no noise from traffic and no street lights anywhere nearby.

The main bedroom has a king sized bed with cotton bedlinen.. We provide both soft and firm pillows so there’s hopefully something to suit everyone in your party. There is plenty of storage along with bedside cabinets, reading lights, hair dryer, dressing table and chair.. There is a luggage rack for suitcases.

The second room can be made into either a twin room or a king sized bed (zip and link) with both hanging and shelf storage. Again, the bed(s) are made up with cotton bedlinen, and both soft and firm pillows.

Outside, we are delighted to be able to showcase stunning views of Hay Bluff. The decking area, which leads directly out from the living room, has a table with 4 chairs and a barbecue. There is also a 2 person garden swing if you want to just sit and admire the view.

We have a strict no-smoking rule within the house and we would appreciate your compliance with this.

We are unable to accommodate pets due to us having a dog and a cat living with us at the premises.

Wonderful weekend stay. There was everything I needed and more! John and Paul were brilliant. They were welcoming and so helpful without being intrusive. John bakes a sublime lemon drizzle cake too! Perfect Welsh Holiday

My husband and I were visiting Wales from the US to celebrate our 25th anniversary. John and Paul’s place could not have been more perfect. We were both so comfortable that we hardly wanted to venture out on day trips. The house was clean and well-stocked. There were even fans for the bedrooms. They thought of everything! We most enjoyed our evening walks on the country road the property sits on. It was a perfect holiday stay made even better with our incredible hosts!

Welsh Wonder

As a get away from it all retreat you couldn't ask for better yet within a few minutes drive you find shops cafes bookshops and a Cinema (Hay on Wye). Exceptionally comfortable accommodation, immaculately presented with everything you could wish for - a dust pan and brush would be handy though and a couple of big mugs for those who like a bucket of coffee to get going in the morning ! The welcome pack was fabulous and top marks for cooking Welsh Cakes and Shortbread complete with ingredients noted for those with allergies. The views are simply spectacular and the ever changing landscape a delight, Walking the Begwans is a must just a quick drive to Painscastle up the road and Elan Valley is 30 mins drive via Builth Wells. thank you John and Paul.

Excellent and a beautiful place to relax

We had a wonderful few days staying here. John and Paul go out of their way to ensure that you have everything need and despite being just next door you are left feeling like you are the only people there. There are lots of special touches like plenty of games, soft and firm pillows to choose from and the welcome cakes were a lovely surprise. We stayed here with our two boys aged 4 and 8 and they were made very welcome. (I know its not always easy when you are trying to find somewhere that's suitable for young kids and so just thought I'd mention that it's a good place to stay with them too) The views from the bungalow are amazing. We got up for sunrise and it was stunning. Zero doubts in recommending here for somewhere to stay. Especially if you are looking for a relaxing break.

Absolutely immaculate property and surrounding landscape. A real 5 star experience

Such a gem of a property, the pictures do not do it justice. Everything is finished to an extremely high standard. John and Paul were both amazing hosts and pulled out all the stops to make our stay memorable. I stayed for my birthday which is just after Christmas and not only was I greeted with the most beautiful Christmas decorations, but also a complimentary bottle of fizz, balloon and a birthday card! The surrounding views and landscapes are out of this world. Watching the sunrise over Hay Bluff on New Year’s Day is a memory that will stay with me forever, so magical. I really did not want to leave and will definitely be back again soon.

An idyll in the Welsh Borders.

Paul and John were welcoming and helpful and provided accommodation in their property that provided comfort and delight. The bungalow itself provided all that was needed to enable us to eat and sleep and live in warmth , and to entertain ourselves in the evenings or during inclement weather, and its location, with wondrous views across the Wye vale to the distant frowning scarp of the Black Hills, and with easy and immediate access to the smooth suede upland of the Beggwns, was ideal for us, keen walkers and lovers of all things rurl. An additional bonus was proximity to Glasbury and Hay which provided excellent eateries and of course, an untold wealth of books.

Relaxing with beautiful views.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was quiet with wonderful views from kitchen, bathroom, sitting room, garden & decked area. Pretty much every convenience item in the property so no need to take much. Maintained & cleaned to a very high standard with very obliging landlords living next door. You will not be disappointed.

A wonderful find!

We arrived to find the warmest of welcomes....and the most amazing view......we were blown away by the beauty and the peace!.....Inside was equally impressive....there was everything we could have possibly needed......the bungalow was beautifully presented.......the bedrooms were clean....the beds were wonderfully comfortable.....the bathroom was warm and the shower amazing!.....The living room, with its patio doors which led onto a patio area, meant we could take in the views from inside and out , was comfortable and had a large screen TV as well as a reclining sofa!! We felt thoroughly spolit....nothing was missing....the quality of the furnishings was superb and the peace and the quiet a real treat! It isnt often that you find somewhere that ticks all the boxes....but for us we were bowled over.....so much so we have booked for 2019!!! We are happy to thoroughly recommend to anyone!...Enjoy!!!

Wonderful

The bungalow is very stylish(combination of minimalism and opulence), spotless and equipped with all modern conveniences. The view from the terrace is truly spectacular and we could admire it everyday as our wonderful hosts made sure(I don't know how) we also had fantastic weather. The hospitality we were offered was generous and kind.
