About this property

Cosy Cotswold - The Snug - cottage in the centre of Burford

The lovely town of Burford occupies a position on the meandering River Windrush. Burford is built on a fairly steep hill, and the view from the top of the hill looking down the High Street to the river is one of the classic panoramas of the Cotswolds. A lovely 4-arched medieval bridge, widened in the 18th century, crosses the Windrush, and though Burford itself does not occupy the northern bank, a walk across the bridge is rewarded by wonderful views across watermeadows to the spire of St. John the Baptist parish church.
152 The Hill has been completed renovated and now offers 5 individual holiday homes, The Snug is one of them, all five properties can be all be rented if you would like, family Christmas, special occasions, the whole property will sleep up to 23, but you will all have your individual space, please see 8379754, 8379752, 6977567, 8379755 and please contact us for details.
The Snug is a one bedroom cottage, with one bathroom with a large shower, it can sleep up to 2 people, the bedroom has its own clean style, with one double bed, large open plan living, kitchen, dining area and a sitting room with TV, a snug, cosy place for two.

A communal garden can be found at the back of the property, it is lawned and is available to all guests that are staying at 152 The Hill. When you step outside the property, you are metres away from a newsagent, a butcher, a deli, a chemist, restaurants, pubs, a little further down is the Co-op shop. It is a brilliant place to stay as a base to explore the Cotswolds, with many places to visit.

Bibury - 10 minutes, the famous Arlington Row and Bibury trout farm
Bourton-on-the-Water 15 minutes,- regularly voted one of the prettiest village in England, Birdland Park and Gardens and The Model Village
Oxford 30 minutes – what can we say – full of history, Universities, beautiful buildings, museums, the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers and many others, plus of course theatres.
Upper and Lower Slaughter 20 Minutes – ‘a wander alongside the stream seems like a privilege.’
Stow on the Wold 25 minutes - At one end stands the ancient cross, and at the other the town stocks, shaded between an old elm tree.
Broadway 35 minutes - the village also has an interesting artistic heritage which includes some well known artists, writers, and performing artists such as William Morris, John Singer Sargent, Francis D Millet, J.M. Barrie and Mary Anderson.
Stratford-upon-Avon 45 minutes – the home of Shakespeare and theatres
Bath – 60 minutes – known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Honey-coloured Bath stone has been used extensively in the town’s architecture, including at Bath Abbey, noted for its fan-vaulting, tower and large stained-glass windows. The museum at the site of the original Roman-era Baths includes The Great Bath, statues and a temple.
Cheltenham 30 minutes – race course, architecture and shopping
Cotswold Wildlife Park – 5 minutes

Very cute little place. Perfect for our short vacation. Property was an excellent location. The walls are thin to the outside walk area. Would stay again if in the area though!

Exploring the Cotswolds
Staying in Burford was a great midway spot to explore the Cotswolds. It was easy going to other towns but returning to our spot at 152 The Hill was like coming home again. The pubs were friendly , great food and the shopping held a good variety of interesting items. Overall we picked a great spot for 4 days.

The Snug - Burford
The Snug is a welcoming, comfortable and convenient place to stay in a quiet location just seconds away from restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. We would book again in the future and recommend to others. The owner goes the extra mile and provided bread, milk, cakes and a bottle of fizz !

A great stay in a great location
The Snug met all of our needs. Communication with Sally was effective despite some Virbo complications. The bread, wine and cakes were a welcoming feature. The unit was clean and very well equiped. The location in Burford was excellent and it was a great base to explore the Cotswalds. I would recommend it to friends. The bathroom however requires some attention. The door scrapes on the floor when opening/closing, there is mould in the shower, toilet flush is problematic, water leaks from the shower base, exhaust vent full of lint and many marks on the wall. Not withstanding we enjoyed our stay. comprehensively

Ideal get away
We stayed in The Snug for a 3 night stay. We loved it. The location is excellent. Lots of places to eat and drink. We went for a lovely walk (5 mile) and a trip out to Stow and Bourton on the water. The snug it self is very comfortable. It was bigger than I expected. The kitchen is very well equipped (we ate in for 2 nights). We loved the reclining sofa ! The bed was also very comfy. A nice spacious bathroom with a good shower. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Right in the middle of town
I don't think we could have picked a better spot in a better town to explore the Cotswolds. We loved Burford because it had plenty of food and shopping options but was still small enough to be charming. And this cottage was in a great spot to see it all. Right outside of our door were several great breakfast spots and a little further down, you could find at least 3 or 4 good pubs to eat dinner. The property itself was small and cozy as described but comfortable. The only thing that was a little tricky was the low door frame to walk down the step from the kitchen into the bathroom. I bumped my head a few times around there, especially at night, but I got the routine down after a couple of days. We appreciated the fresh loaf of bread left for us and enjoyed it with some local cheese that we bought. I loved the backyard area which really gives you some nice privacy from the hustle and bustle of the street. Parking was limited but not much of a problem when we stayed in September. Highly recommended location for couples.

Lovely place
Such a lovely cottage and village. We were welcomed by some Prosecco, bread, cake and homemade jam, it was very exciting. Unfortunately, some of the cutlery and crockery still had food on, so we had to wash everything before we used it. The sponge to clean was also dirty. That was our only negative point, everything else was great, and I would recommend this cottage and village.

Everything you need for a few days away
Stayed for three nights over the weekend, we have visited burford before, it has lots of shops, cafes and pubs so everything you need on your door step. We stayed in the Snug which was a nice little place to stay for a few days away, had everything you need, welcome gifts a lovely added touch. Spacious bathroom/living area. I know this jsnt the hosts fault but it was rather noisy early in the morning with people talking loudly/children crying. Parking was also a big issue for us and really took over our stay as we were worried if we left if we would get a space when we got back from a day out, which we never did and would have to keep driving round and moving the car till we got a space outside the property and for this reason we sadly won’t return. I know its also a snug but we also found the bed small so if your slightly above average sizing it a tight squeeze. Check in was smooth and hosts helpful overall lovely but sadly the parking was a major issue for us.

A little gem in Burford
Perfect spot as a homebase to explore this part of the Cotswolds. And the town off Burford has its own charm - good shops, good food, good pubs, good sights and walking paths. The Snug itself has everything you need. Right sized and perfect for two people. The apple tree in the courtyard was a nice treat- delicious fresh picked apples. And Sally left us in good shape with treats and plenty of coffee and tea (and Prosecco!) would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again!
