Beautiful setting, comfortable home
The lake house was a great home base for a family gathering. The beds were comfortable, the house was warm, the setting is beautiful, including a great golf course for winter walks. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen too. Be sure to bring your own toiletries.

Just what we wanted
We had a terrific stay and will be coming back. A great property with beautiful screened in porch on the back. The wifi was great, we needed to do a small amount of work remotely and it worked very well. Janet the house manager was wonderful to work with and extremely helpful. This was perfect for our family of 6, kids shared 2 bedrooms which are a touch small but they only slept in there. Library on first floor could be used as large bedroom and master bedroom is enormous and has a great view.

Peaceful lake getaway
A beautiful house with views of the lake and opportunities for boating/paddleboarding. Janet was a wonderful host, made it super easy to check in, was always available, and had many recommendations for things to do in the area. I came to Wisconsin to do some speed skating at the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis, but also wanted a real vacation, and staying here was perfect. It's a really easy 30-40-minute drive to western Milwaukee, even during rush hour. This house would be great for a family or for a group of friends. Highly recommended; would stay here again.

What a wonderful setting to reconnect with family that we had not seen for the past year due to Covid. Everyone felt rested and at ease. The many books and artwork added to our wonder and enjoyment of the world at large.

Delightful retreat home
From the moment we arrived we knew we had picked the right property. Beautiful and spacious, as well as rustic it hits the right note for a retreat vacation. Our thanks to Janet, we had a great three weeks in the country.

Charming house on tranquil lake. Private, comfortable, relaxing.
Updated older home with large, lovely enclosed porch that overlooks a beautiful, quiet lake. Books in almost every room made us feel at home. Three bed and three bath with original wood floors with newer heat and AC. Separate library can be closed off for a 4th bedroom if you bring your own inflatable mattress.

A Hidden Treasure!
I am originally from Milwaukee, but reside in Arizona now. For our annual 4th of July trip, we decided to switch it up and rent a lake house instead of staying in the city. This house was absolutely perfect for my husband, myself, our 2 boys and in-laws. It was just far enough away from everything to feel like a true escape, but a short drive to the grocery to pick up supplies. The boys had a blast fishing and floating on the lake. The property manager, Janet, was extremely helpful upon check-in. She even gave us local restaurant recommendations. We will be back!

Stunning Fall Color
The house was in excellent condition, the surroundings quiet and restful. While some leaves had already fallen, the maples around the house were a blaze of golden color. We could occasionally hear Canada geese honking as they flew to the lake and sandhill cranes trumpeting in the distance. We enjoyed some neat restaurants in the area including Holi Canoli, Rushing Waters (fresh trout) and The Henhouse.

Wonderful
This house was warm and inviting, perfect for a girls weekend for 4 women. There was plenty of room to spread out, inside and outside. You can tell that the owners are interesting by the decor and books; I'm grateful that they allow people to rent it. A stellar part of the visit was Janet, the agent who lives nearby. She was generous with her time and was available when we needed her. She found us a boat rental for a day, helped us with details on how to drive it, and gave us local information on where to take it. We also had access to two kayaks for a low rental price. Our stay was wonderful already and Janet made it fantastic. She's a gem, as are the house and lake. By the end of the visit we wanted to move in.

My go to lake house rental
The location is ideal with a no wake DNR protected lake attached to the main lake. One can enjoy water sports on Eagles Springs Lake and solitude or a picnic on your boat on Lake Lulu. The house has comfortable elegance to it. Private and yet easy access to town.

Not what you see in the pictures. . .
We drove down a bumpy dirt road with holes filled with water before arriving at the property. The house is quite old and poorly furnished, dirty & dusty with uncomfortable sofas in the living room. Every draw in the kitchen was a mess. The pots, pans and utensils were simply thrown in every draw. The upstairs linen closet as well as the master bedroom closet was an equal mess. There was no soap (other than hand soap) in any shower. The towels were old and the sheets weren't much better Janet, the next door neighbor handles the rental. She came running over to collect the security deposit-really? There wasn't anything in this house we could possibly ruin. In fact, we left it in better condition then we found the house. We have traveled around the world using VRBO and I must say that this place was one of the worst we have rented. . .especially for $250 a night in the middle of nowhere. (We were there for the North Face Challenge Race). It wouldn't take a lot to make this house charming. A good cleaning with a few comfortable sofas, nice sheets and towels and an organized kitchen and closets would do the trick. Incidentally, you cannot go swimming from the dock outside because the lake is extremely murky.

Perfect escape for families or writers
We spent a delightful week at this lovely lake house in early August. A phenomenal book collection and artwork from around Asia give this old Victorian a lot of character and charm. Yet, the place isn’t so fancy or fragile that you’re worried about having kids visit. The caretaker was responsive, super friendly and gave great recommendations. (Elegant Farmer, a short drive from here, has the best apple pie I’ve ever tasted!) My young kids caught panfish and bass off the pier every day. The water there is clear and shallow enough that you can see the fish eyeing the bait. We rented kayaks and explored the lake. On our next trip we hope to paddle all the way to Lake Lulu, a no-wake DNR lake that's supposed to be gorgeous. For those who prefer swimming in pools to lakes, there’s a wonderful newer YMCA nearby in Mukwonago that has a zero-depth-entry pool and a waterslide -- much nicer facilities than the Ys we have in the Chicago area. One of my favorite parts of the trip was seeing all the cranes. We hear their distinctive calls when they migrate overhead in the spring. Now we know where these magnificent birds spend their summers. On our last morning as we packed up, a crane stood on the pier, the brilliant red feathers on its head shining in the sun. A perfect end to a perfect trip! We’re already planning our next visit. p.s. This would make a great writer’s retreat in any season. There's strong wifi and three distinct spaces for writing. The library is surrounded on three sides with windows overlooking the woods. The screened porch overlooks the lake, and the dining room has long table with plenty of room to spread out your notes. You’re in a serene setting, surrounded by books, not far from coffee shops, and there's no TV to distract you.

Great quiet escape
My family stayed at this lake house for six weeks while we transitioned out of the area for a move. The house was clean and beautiful. We enjoyed this secluded home with an awesome lake view from master bedroom, living room and front deck. It was stocked with everything we needed for day-to-day use. Janet, the property manager, was very responsive and always super helpful with anything we needed. We miss the place and would most definitely go back!

Great place for families...
The caretaker was very kind and answered all of our questions and even helped when we got locked out. She also even brought over toys for our kids and my niece. This charming lake house has an excellent view. We stayed here with my sister and her family and we all had plenty of space. We even hosted a brunch for our extended family and had plenty of room for everyone. We are from AZ and when we come to visit family in WI again, we would definitely stay here again. AND the price is great!
