Alfaz del pi
Alfaz del Pi is a town located in the province of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca, Spain. The town nestles in the foothills of the Sierra Helada, in the district of the Marina Baixa.
It is situated 47 kilometers north of Alicante and has a wonderful beachfront, with spectacular views to the huge rock Peñon de Ifach at Calpe.
History
The town dates back to the Moorish occupation. The name "Alfaz" derives from the Arabic word for "sown land", as the region was used to grow fruits and almonds. Later on the town became a fortified settlement, which protected the local coastline against the Barbary pirates.
About town
The town is very attractive and offers excellent amenities, including supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants, and services such as a medical center, post office, etc.
Beaches
The beach at Alfaz del Pi is particularly appealing, with golden sands, a pretty promenade and crystal clear, calm waters. The views from the beachfront are beautiful with a clear view to the Peñon de Ifach at nearby Calpe.
Places to visit
Alfaz del Pi is well located to explore the rest of the Costa Blanca and Alicante Province. We recommend visits to the Terra Mitica theme park at Benidorm, the Fuentes de Algar waterfalls, and the Terra Natura Safari Park.
Aside from leisure attractions, from Alfaz de Pi it’s easy to visit Alicante City, Benidorm, Albir, Denia, Calpe and other cultural and attractive seaside towns and villages.
golf
If you want to participate in a round of golf during your holiday then you are in luck, as Alfaz del Pi is close to several good golf courses, including Ifach Golf and Real Faula courses.
Eating out
Alfaz del Pi has a great choice of dining options; with a good selection of traditional, seafood and international restaurants.
Climate
Alfaz del Pi enjoys a fantastic mild all year round climate, with temperatures reaching 40ºC in the summer; the winters are warm and temperate.
The Costa Blanca / Valencia region
Welcome to this exhilarating and enchanting part of Spain. This region stretches from Valencia (the city that invented paella, is home to Formula 1 and Americas Cup racing) in the North to Alicante (a bustling, bright port and holiday city with vibrant night life) in the south.
Along the White Coast of the Costa Blanca you will find some of Spain's most popular beach resorts including Javea, Denia, Moraira, Altea, Benissa and Calpe offering blue flag beaches, excellent sports activities, lovely marinas and fishing ports surrounded by restaurants and bars serving some of the best of Spain's traditional cuisine.
The World Health Organization has designated the northern Costa Blanca as possessing one of the finest climates found anywhere, and the EU has awarded many of the beaches in the area the prestigious "blue flag" for water quality and cleanliness several years running.
The coastline boasts some of the Spain's finest beaches, as well as pleasant natural features such as La Albufera - a freshwater lake famous for it's bird life, eels, flat bottomed boats and surrounding paella restaurants - and charming towns such as Altea - one of the prettiest little pueblos on the Valencian coastline - as well as the tourist Mecca of Benidorm with it's superb beaches and fantastic nightlife.
Alfaz
Alfaz town center is a five minute drive from the villa. Everything you might need for your holiday is available. There are banks where you can be attended in English, Norwegian, German, French and of course Spanish. There are lots of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, hairdessers and beauticians. The local Friday morning market is ideal for clothes, souvenirs and fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables. Also in the center of Alfaz is the Casa de Cultura (cultural center) where there are often shows, fiestas etc. The center is the hub of the town where everyone congregates. Next door to the cultural building is the sports center with gym and tennis facilities. Whilst Alfaz is a favored residence for all Europeans due to the climate, and although it is cosmopolitan, it still retains a very Spanish feel.
Alfaz has a beautiful cobbled beach at the quiet but upmarket town of Albir, which is a minute drive away, or a local bus can be taken from the town center or Alfaz down to Albir. From Albir you can walk along the prom to the harbor and yacht port of the picturesque old Spanish town of Altea where you can relax in one of the fabulous sea side cafes. Altea is rightfully known as 'A Jewel in the Valencia Region'. This picturesque town looks out over the sea across one of the most delightful bays on the Mediterranean. Overflowing with history, over the centuries Altea has welcomed Iberians, Romans, Moors and Christians, all of whom have contributed to the special culture of these coastal lands. The Old Town, with a walk through the cobbled streets and past the designer boutiques and craft shops up to the 'Domed Church' plaza at the top, should be on everyone's itinerary. In the Plaza the cultural and leisure center of Añtea is the magnificent Church of the Virgen del Consuelo (Our Lady of Solace). Altea's peacefulness and tranquility have made it a paradise for artists and craftsmen.
The thriving tourist metropolis or Benidorm is only a short drive to the twenty minute drive from the villa - with the four great theme parks, Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and Mundomar, being ideal to keep the family content.
