We had a great stay! Thanks for all the quick responses. Only comments are there aren’t 3 bedrooms…. There are three rooms with beds but we made it work.
The house was great for a long weekend. The yard is big enough to play lawn games and it’s a short walk to downtown.
P.S. don’t use the downstairs air conditioner if you stay here in the summer… it leaks and the floor is carpet.
No issues at all, great area, and the yard was perfect for my three young boys to play in during the evening!!!! The house was great!!! Wished we could have stayed longer!!!

Neat little place close to everything
This is the perfect girlfriend weekend getaway house. Walking distance to the downtown area. Plenty of room and clean beds. The owner is very easy to work with. I highly recommend this place.
Well stocked and clean. Power went out our last night and it was in the 90's that day. I was a little surprised that none of the windows would open for ventilation. There are plenty of fans provided but some air would of helped. Overall a great place and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Cute Beach-House Vibe
My friends and I enjoyed our stay at the Auggie House! It was a walk away from everything we wanted to do and see. The place was clean when we arrived and easy to access!
Thanks for a wonderful stay :)

MLK Weekend
The place was clean. Location is good to the cute little downtown area. No laundry - had to go in town and use laundromat. Needed a regular pan. We made pancakes and eggs in a wok.
There is a large bush with lots of creeping grapevine that obstructs the view of the road towards town and makes it difficult to exit safely

Clean and plenty of space
We had a great time, we took our 3 grand daughters with us. Roomy, with large dining room table. Our youngest son and his family rented a place a short distance away so we had a couple of large dinner parties with them. It is worth the drive to Warren Dunes State park, much nicer than the New Buffalo Beach. Would definitely rent again when the grandsons are a little older. Only mistake in the description is there is no washing machine.

Great beach house to stay, location is prime for restaurants and walking distance to the beach (est: 1/2 mile). Owner went out of her way to accommodate. Only down fall is that the beds are very uncomfortable (IKEA futon type), great for kids and the Pepsi machine in kitchen is for looks only. But none of the down falls would make me not want to rent again....I would love to stay again, just time I will be bringing foam cushion for the beds! ;)

Some pros and some cons
The house was laid out well for a large group. It had a large open area for the living/dining room and a very large dining room table. The house is decorated in a cute surfing motif, with surfboards and wave boards on hand, which made for some fun photos. :) The location was pretty good too - walking distance to downtown and the beach (although a long walk - too long if you're carrying a lot of things). The house is older, but clean. Our only complains are 1) the plumbing wasn't very good (toilet was always over-flowing) and 2) the beds were not very comfortable. The double bed in the upstairs bedroom was quite comfortable, but the double bed on the loft was as hard as a rock and on the twin beds downstairs, you could feel every single spring. If they replaced some of the beds, we'd stay there again.

Liked: Check-in, location
Disappointed
The property was ok. Decent location. Several issues during a 1 night stay. Water on bathroom floor and wet carpet outside bathroom door. Toenail clippings on carpet. Shower pressure wasn't great and tub held water. Shower broke after 2nd use and 3 of us weren't able to shower. No discount was offered even though all issues were immediately reported to property owner. Management did come out and inspected water on carpet and bathroom floor. Toenail clippings weren't addressed and didn't respond before check-out about broken shower. Extremely disappointed.

Cute house, good location, but dirty and lacked amenities
The house was in a great location and has a lot of potential. However, upon arrival we discovered one of the upstairs beds was broken. There were stains on the sheets and we found hairs in the sheets of one of the other bed as well as all over the bathroom. Overall the house was just dirty including the tools used for the BBQ.
I had messaged the owner prior to arriving to inquire on towels and linens and was informed they were at the house. There were five of us staying but only three towels. This was disappointing because I had reached out before arrival and the number of guests was on the reservation. For a house that advertises that it sleeps more 6 people, there should be at least one towel per guest on site.
Overall, we made it work, but for the price of the house we were disappointed and would chose not to stay here again when we return to New Buffalo.
We had a great time in New Buffalo the weekend of April 2nd to celebrate my wife’s birthday with some of our friends. Hit all of the fun spots in town: Beer Church, Casey’s, Ghost Isle, etc.
Home was perfect for the 4 of us that stayed overnight. Good location and in the middle of everything. Locations are walkable but located on a major traffic thoroughfare so I don’t recommend, especially at night.
If you are looking for a short one night or two night stay I would recommend. House was very clean.
The property was fine for a shorter stay. Not really comfortable, but I could see it being a great crash-pad for Summer months. It was a little dingy, the furniture was not comfortable, and the kitchen was woefully under-stocked. It is also located on a very busy highway. Fine enough for our stay, but we would likely choose different accommodations in New Buffalo in the future.
Great location, everything we needed to cook with, plenty of areas to sit and relax firepit, we roasted marshmellows the deck with lounge furn very comfy, tvs extra pillows blankets cot, boogie boards bikes, beach chairs
Location couldn't be better for the price. This was my first time visiting New Buffalo, and I will definitely be back. Augie's was perfect for our friends trip to the beach/lake.
Pros: great access to beach, restaurants, breweries by walking. Open floor plan was great while at the house and hanging out. Big table where we could all fit to eat. Complimentary Netflix was a hit! Plus the movie collection is very extensive. Firepit and outdoor area were great; ample seating. Plus they have a very nice grill for a short-term rental! Great parking. Outdoor shower is unique (hose off the house, so not warm). I used this after our beach day and it was perfect!
Cons: only one true bedroom (closed-door). The other beds (two twins and one full/queen) were separated (up and down stairs), but no door to the rooms. Not a huge deal to us guys, but could be a deal breaker for those with small children/infants. Kitchen is not huge, but definitely functionable (all cookware and dining utensils you need). Street noise everyone mentions is bearable. If you're the type to sleep with a fan (like myself), it's truly not a bother.
Overall, I would absolutely stay again if with my friends. If with family, I may look elsewhere just based on the doors as I have a toddler and understand how that goes. Kids over 5 shouldn't have a problem sleeping here. Definitely give this place a look!
We stayed at Augie’s Surf House for four days for a quick family get away. We had a great time and it was absolutely perfect for what we needed!

About the host
Hosted by Maria Augustus
This property was purchased for the purpose of deigning a surf house in the New Buffalo, Michigan. Surf houses like Auggie's Surf House exist all up the East Coast, California Coast, Hawaii, and Australia. But there wasn't one in the Third Coast. I wanted to give my customers a real surfing experience whether they surf or simply enjoy the surf and beach decor.
Why they chose this property
This property is unique in that it is in town yet offers private woods in the back. It is a large property equipped with an outdoor shower - large deck - fire pit. The inside is decorated for beach and surfing enthusiasts. Sure anyone can rent a house by a beach. This house was designed to give the customer a beach house and more. What's also great about this property is that you can drive up and park your car and leave it until it's time to leave New Buffalo. Walk to beach during day with provided surf boards and boogie boards. Stop by Third Coast Surf Shop and pick up some surf apparel. Hang out at the surf house after. Do some grilling on the deck. Then, at night, head out on foot to popular places like Redamacks, Stray Dog, and Buffalo Bills Bar-B-Q and more.
What makes this property unique
The unique benefits to Auggie's Surf House in addition to all the amenities like deck, outdoor shower, fire pit, DVDs, books, grill, hammocks, is the feeling you will get when your there. You will feel like your part of something special. Your not just staying in a hotel room or house. You really feel like your on vacation.
