Fab villa with outstanding garden and pool
We spent a great week at Quinta Amarela in late Sept 2024. It is a characterful, spacious villa with 3 bedrooms on each floor (the two floors are completely separate). There are 4x double bedrooms (2 ensuite) and 2x twin bedrooms, but one of the doubles can be made up as a twin. The garden is the absolute stand out feature - very private with stunning mature trees, plants and landscaping, a great (large) pool area with towels supplied too and lots of separate areas to relax or play ping-pong, petanque or bounce on the trampoline. The upstairs terrace is spacious and great for outdoor dining or relaxing with a drink. Some of the outdoor furniture in other areas is a little old.
The upstairs kitchen is really well equipped for cooking for a big crowd and there are plenty of plates, cutlery, glasses etc as well as cooking and food prep equipment. The downstairs kitchen is much smaller & not so well equipped but handy for storing drinks for the pool. Most of the bedrooms are of a good size, though the two twin rooms are smaller. All have air con. The downstairs bedrooms felt dark, a few brighter lightbulbs would make a big difference here.
Rene manages the property and lives on-site in a cottage by the entry gate. He is always around to help sort out any issues. The style and decor of the whole house is very characterful and stylish, if a tiny bit dated in a few areas - it is a very impressive place and a great location to spend a peaceful, secluded holiday.
