This lovingly restored 1840’s terraced cottage has all one needs for a short or long stay in a beautiful part of England near York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Upstairs are two bedrooms (one double with a dressing table and large walk-in wardrobe, one with two single beds and a rail for hanging clothes) and large warm bathroom. Downstairs is a through room. The sitting area has two leather sofas - one a recliner; a flat screen TV with freeview TV and catch-up channels; a wood-burning stove with plenty of wood (although the central hating is excellent); and plenty of information about the area. The kitchen has a large table (with some of the best guidance about the cottage and location I have ever read), a good range of crockery, cooking pots and utensils, a utility area under the stairs, cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher and plenty of worktops. A dresser contains books to read and games to play. Outside is a yard which can be lit at night, and a small terrace with a table and four chairs for al fresco dining. Everything is of good quality and well maintained. And so welcoming. We found fresh flowers, soap and bath and shower products, tea and coffee and a welcome pack of teacakes, milk and eggs. Parking is on the local streets and free. The cottage is 5 minutes walk from Pocklington town centre with plenty of pubs, restaurants and largely independent shops. The owners live nearby and communications were excellent.

We have lived and raised our family in Pocklington for many years. We purchased Milliner's Cottage in the Summer of 2017

Why they chose this property

We chose Milliner's Cottage for its original Victorian features such as sash windows and fireplaces. We have renovated the property to a high standard, including comfy beds and recliner sofas, whilst maintaining its Victorian feel.

What makes this property unique

Milliner's Cottage is conveniently located in the heart of historic Pocklington; a very short stroll from shops, restaurants, arts centre (cinema and theatre), sports centre and Burnby Hall gardens (famous for its waterlilies). It is the perfect base for visiting the nearby city of York (13 miles) by bus or car, or for walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Wolds. Central heating, wood burning stove, free wi-fi, Netflix and catch up TV services make for the ideal year round destination.
