Comfortable cottage with some small niggles
The cottage was beautiful and ideally situated to enjoy the North Norfolk coastline. The decor in the cottage was lovely and overall, it felt very cosy yet spacious in the cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. It was great having the conservatory and the outdoor table to sit out on a nice day. It was lovely hearing so many birds around the cottage. There were just a few things that influenced my overall rating and let the cottage down in our opinion. The shower in the main bathroom was unusable as it was leaking. We were able to use the 2nd shower downstairs during our stay. The clothes dryer was broken and this was the only option available for drying clothes. The blind in the 2nd bedroom was not working as the cord was broken, which meant my daughter woke early every day. The fridge is really small and the door wouldn't close properly and its freezer compartment's door was broken and kept falling off. Although minor on their own, these niggles added up if you are trying to cater for the needs of a young family (sleeping, feeding and washing).

Lovely comfy cottage
Sutton Cottage was beautiful - cosy, comfortable, well-equipped and in an excellent location. We did not need to use the car as we could walk to the beach with the dog, walk to the Lifeboat Inn for supper and just enjoy Thornham, which has everything you could ask for. The wifi was slightly patchy during our stay, but still good enough for some work and gcse revision to be done! A really relaxing stay in a peaceful village and as a bonus we had fabulous weather so could make use of the sun-trap back garden.

Early spring break!
A lovely week blessed with glorious weather! The cottage was lovely, a perfect location on the coast so nowhere was far to go, east or west. Beautiful beach walks, Thornham nature reserve to Holmes and Holkham were spectacular. Our only criticism of the cottage was the supply of basics was practically non existent, one bin bag for a week, no washing up liquid on arrival, we take most things along for cottage breaks but never bin bags! But a lovely comfy home for a week, thank you.

Thornham escape
A great cottage - spacious and clean in an excellent location. Thornham is a little foodie haven with lots of great places to eat - the Orange Tree and Chequers Inn are exceptional.

Warm and cosy in spite of storm Arwen
Storm Arwen arrived during the first day of our stay at Sutton Cottage, and we were warm and cosy throughout in spite of the wind, rain and snow showers. Good location for all the attractions of the North Norfolk coast, and a good base to come back to each day. Cottage has everything needed for a comfortable holiday.

Sutton Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sutton Cottage in Thornham. The cottage is tucked away off the main road within easy access to all the facilities Thornham has on offer. Three great pubs and the fabulous Thornham Deli. A short walk to Drove Orchard where you get Gurneys fresh fish, Eric’s fish and chips and The Drove shop selling fresh fruit and veg and other interesting groceries. It is also within easy reach of the coast and all the walking the fabulous coast has to offer. The coast hopper bus is also very useful and stops in Thornham. In fact, there is no need to use your car during your stay. Sutton cottage is very well presented and equipped. Very cosy and also light airy. Plenty of downstairs space and two lovely bedrooms and is provided with luxury bed linen and towels. We shall be returning to Sutton Cottage ...........

Sutton cottage thornham
The cottage looks nice from the front and the conservatory is nice . But I didn't think the sheets smelt clean in the bedroom discoloured bath mats and no toilet gel inside the toilet made me think it hadn't been cleaned mold on door of bath . Downstairs front door sticks .no wheel on one armchair . Bit shabby outside

Lovely location, ideal for a base in North Norfolk but not as comfortable as imagined!
Sutton cottage looked fabulous in the brochure. What we now realise that the pictures were taken when it was first renovated which was several years ago. Everything was fine and fairly clean (very dusty under beds and on bedroom shelves) but the furniture was not at all comfortable. We were looking forward to relaxing at night but you could not do that as the settee in the lounge was so uncomfortable and has lost all its shape. It was also quite small with lots of stains so luckily I had taken a throw to cover it. The arm chair has lost a foot so it tipped to one side when sat on! You always felt like you were going to fall off. What you cannot see in the picture was that the kitchen is open plan in the lounge so if you are cooking or boiling the kettle you cannot hear the small TV. The bathroom was great, and very clean. The dining room was also great and spacious but the outside area needed a good sweep up (we did find some dog muck from previous guests which was not nice) The beds were OK and were more comfortable than the living room furniture. In spite of the above the owners had thought of everything and there was even milk in the fridge and a few essentials for the first night. Key collection was easy. Quite location and secure outdoor area if you have a dog. All in all this could be a fabulous property but it needs updating with new furniture before we could recommend it to anyone. For the price we were expecting more to be honest, it is smaller than it looks in the brochure and I am not sure how you would go on if 4 adults stayed there, luckily there was only 2 of us and a small dog. Next time we would look for a bit more luxury so we could relax in the evenings in comfort, sorry.

A beautiful cxaage in a great location
Sutton cottage was beautiful. Well decorated with up to date fittings and fabrics. It was situated in the lovely village of Thornham with lots of easy parking. There was plenty of space for the three of us and adequate chairs, plates etc. The stairs were however narrow and the outside area had not been swept. The summerhouse was also disappointing. It smelt a little damp and i didn't want to look at a washing machine when trying to relax. The sofa was a little uncomfy too. Overall though- a lovely place to stay. Thanks for the cake on arrival- a nice touch.

Better than the photos
A beautiful cottage that looked great in photos, but in reality was better and bigger. Perfect location for us: close to beaches, park for kids, lots of pubs for choice of eating out, close to food shopping. Garden was perfect for outdoor meals and for the dog... she smelled of lavender all week! A lovely place to stay and explore.

First visit to Norfolk
Fantastic location and lovely cottage with everything you need. Good pubs just down the road and fantastic walks on the doorstep. Only 3 very minor issues 1/ the stairgate doesn't fit the very narrow stairs so be warned if you take little people or dogs and 2/ two of the bowls in the crockery cupboard had someone's unfinished breakfast left in them 3/ the door to the lovely conservatory needs a latch to hold it open - as I say very minor issues (other than the stairgate perhaps) and a lovely cottage in a cracking location........

Very enjoyable holiday in well located village for exploring N Norfolk
Comfortable cottage and well set back from main road so quite quiet. Small pretty, well landscaped garden, but perhaps dogs would prefer a larger garden!

Lovely comfortable cottage
Fab cottage located centrally in the lovely village of Thornham. Weather wasn't great part of the week we went (snow and high winds) but the cottage was cosy and with three pubs, all within a short stroll from your front door, we couldn't really complain! Cottage was well equipped and the conservatory/garden room was an added bonus, especially when it was so cold outside. Our only recommendation / request to the owners is that curtains be added to the large window in the lounge (behind sofa). Not for privacy (as you are not overlooked) but more to help keep out the draft. We realise it was particularly windy that week but having curtains at that window would have helped. Many thanks.

Sutton Cotttage, Thornham
Lovely cottage and very well equipped, very welcoming on arrival and the garden was perfectly enclosed for an adventurous cocker spaniel. Location was good for daily walks to the beach and easy stroll to all of the the fantastic public houses. Our only niggle, was the sofa was extremely uncomfortable, and after a long walk it would have been nice to sink into a nice comfy one.

A great break at Thornham
We normally spend our Norfolk break in Blakeney but we thought we'd give Thornham a try because its nearer my Birding sites. We like a luxury stay so we would book Sutton cottage. On arrival we found the property quite dusty, the inside windows especially. But other than that, it was warm and the log burner was a nice touch. Upstairs, the bed was very comfortable and a good bath with plenty of hot water. We will be hopefully for next year.
