Charming farm house
My extended family stayed at this absolutely charming farmhouse. The kids loved exploring the property and hanging out in the nap shack. The farmhouse was beautifully decorated, had everything you could hope for and more (crock pot, griddle, popcorn maker, coffee choices, jetted tub, fire pit, hammocks, and so much more. I made a mistake in the beginning and lost my reservation; the host was quick to respond when I reached out and was creative in finding a solution so that we could still stay last minute. We were so grateful and appreciated his grace. We loved our stay, and this beautiful property will be our go to from now on.

Fantastic Home Base for Exploring
My family and I loved our stay at the ranch. It was cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed to easily enjoy our time near the Grand Canyon. Plenty of space to unwind and watch a show or play a game after a day of hiking. We had everything we needed (appliance/dish/etc) to make several meals together and enjoy them around the big table as a family. Seeing the donkeys, goats, and chickens was a treat, as was hanging out with the kids in the cute nap shack. We loved the outdoor patio with fireplace, too, which we used on a couple of cooler nights. It was such a treat to see all the stars-- and even shooting stars! The owner Jeff kindly let us know about the meteor shower (thanks again Jeff!). Jeff was very quick to respond to our questions and we got to meet him briefly. He's such a friendly, kind guy, and he gave us some great suggestions about the area. Williams is a good location to get to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff. Not too far from any of those but you get to see lots of pretty views on the drives to each place and appreciate the changing landscape. Such a gorgeous part of the world! I would definitely stay at this peaceful spot again.

Grand Canyon Stay
The property is well maintained and includes nearly every conceivable amenity imaginable. We found the portrayal of the property is accurate and well represented. Jeff was simply magnificent as he was available for any question and replied to our texts usually within the hour but never intruded upon our privacy in any way. He is the most conscientious and courteous host we've ever had. The property itself is convenient to the Canyon, Sedona and environs as well as Flagstaff. It should be understood that nothing in this area of the country is "nearby" - travel times come with the territory. Overall, I would rate this as an absolute 10. I should mention that there are horses, donkeys and chickens on the property that are maintained by people who live next door but had Jeff not mentioned they live there we'd have never known it. They are very considerate.

Grand Canyon Family Getaway
Jeff gave very detailed instructions and was always pretty quick to reply if we needed anything. The welcome kiosk in the house was pretty cool, I’d never seen anything like that before. It’s close to Route 66 and Bearzona. It’s about a 50 minute drive to the Grand Canyon. The house was exactly as pictured. We had six adults and one 2 year old. The kids corral was amazing and very handy that there was a stroller and a backpack carrier. We all loved the animals too. We tried to pet the horses but the owners of the animals didn’t see too keen to let us do so. The donkeys were easy to pet on your own though. Only real complaints are about the water pressure. The bathroom in the hallway upstairs had barely any water pressure at all so we all used the one in the master. There were also multiple stink bugs in two out of the three rooms we had to kill. It was also kind of annoying you have to have someone get out of the car to undo the gate every time you want to come and go, an electric gate would’ve been awesome. Other than that it has everything you need! All the outdoor activities including tether ball, swingset, horseshoe, etc were super fun. We enjoyed making s’mores by the fire pit too.

Just what we were looking for!
Everything was exactly as described in the listing. Jeff was super easy to communicate with. The entire family enjoyed life on the ranch for a couple days. The donkeys were entertaining, the views were relaxing and the wrap around porch was perfect to sit out on in the morning and evening. The little ones loved the toy room off of the porch. It was exactly what we were looking for.

Great place to stay in Williams AZ!
The Big D Ranch is a great place to spend a week or weekend in the Williams, AZ area. Our family had a great time fishing and hiking in the area and enjoying the property amenities such as horseshoes, corn hole, tetherball, etc. Our group of 10 plus a toddler slept well and took advantage of the gas grill for cooking the trout we caught at nearby Kaibab Lake and the firepit for smores and hot dog cooking. We'll be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the ranch. The home was comfortable and was in a great, central location to everything we wanted to see. Communication was great. I loved the website sent by the owner I could put in my phone like an app. And the interactive board in the kitchen was really useful. This was one of the best VBRO places we have stayed.

We had a variety of age ranges for our trip from 9-70. Everyone had a great time. The house was lovely. The rooms were comfortable. My kids loved playing tetherball outside. 15 minutes to Williams, which was a great little town that we spent several hours exploring. The owner was easily reached. He text me a few times giving me information about the area and to give us a heads up alot the meteor shower that was occurring while we were there and offered to let us go in to see the animals when the caregivers were there. Overall there is nothing negative to say about the stay. It was an amazing part of our vacation.

The ranch was amazing! It had everything we needed and then some. We even got to make homemade ice cream with the ice cream maker! About the host

Hosted by Jeff Dewey

Host profile image
Originally from Chicago & San Diego, Carrie and I both settled in the Phoenix area. Between the 2 of us we have 2 grown children, Hunter and Billie and nothing is more important to us than getting together and spending time with them. We regularly enjoy family gatherings at the Ranch whether it be for the entire week or just a weekend. Our reviews will confirm that family memories are indeed made here at The Big D Ranch. See you soon.

Why they chose this property

Being from the city, we wanted to find the perfect place in the mountains to get away from the hustle and bustle. We wanted to breath the fresh air, feel the cool breeze, nap under the trees in the hammock, sleep with the windows open, hear the roosters and the donkeys in the morning and the train at night. We wanted to be centrally located to attractions and enjoy the quaintness of the small town of Williams. We found what we were looking for and so much more. It's amazing and we would love to share it with you and your family. We look forward to hosting you.

What makes this property unique

The Ranch is located squarely between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon and only minutes from historic downtown Williams. During the summers you can hike, bike, take day trips to the Grand Canyon, visit Bearizona, a wild animal drive-through park or just stroll along the shops of downtown Williams. Maybe you just stay "home" for the day and pet the animals, play corn hole, tetherball, horseshoes, swing on the swing or nap in the hammock. The Big D Ranch offers something for everybody. You are sure to head back home with many great memories and a desire to return.
