A trip back to my youth
We were in Buffalo where I grew up for a wedding. The farmhouse and barn reminded of a friends 100 head dairy farm in Clarence which I loved to visit growing up. Everyone enjoyed the large, comfortable accommodations and family history. Took my 5 yr old grandson on a walk before they drove home which he really enjoyed thanks to the mowed trails.

Enjoyed the family farmhouse
The location was great and the home was perfect for our group. Beds good and very clean, had all the things we needed. Yes, water smelled but no danger the homeowner had bottle water ready.

Honest review
The Good: The farmhouse is beautifully restored and updated, very nice and clean. Comfortable beds and high quality linens. Hosts very welcoming, kind and accomidating. The Bad: Although the farm sits on 140 acres, the house is 30 feet from a very busy road with constant loud road noise. 3 of the 4 bedrooms face the road. We visited in August and had to have windows open with fans for comfort due to no air conditioning. The AC was not an issue and my fault for not reading amenities closer. The Ugly: The high sulfur content of the well water makes doing dishes or taking a shower smell of rotten eggs. Two family members chose not to shower due to the smell. I also live on a farm with well water in a sulfur rich area and know technology exists to mitigate the smell and treat the water. Beautiful restoration of home but would not stay again due to the poor water quality.

Another amazing trip to the farmhouse
This was our second stay at this awesome farmhouse. There was plenty of room for all of us (traveled with my sister and our kids). Place was clean, spacious, and check-in was a breeze. Our hosts thought of everything…plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, drinking water, paper plates and cups, etc. We flew into Buffalo and rented a car (30-35 minutes). We enjoyed Windy Brew, the Flipside, Byrncliff, East Aurora, and Letchworth Park to name a few. Kids enjoyed exploring around the farm and especially finding blackberries and wild raspberries. Thanks again for everything, Di! Hope to be back again soon.

The property is amazing. The photos do not due it justice - just beautiful. Sitting on the front porch during a rainstorm sipping a cup of tea was the highlight of my weekend. The beds were super comfy. The new sofa was perfect! Bring some drinking water if you have an aversion to well water.

Could not have been happier with our choice to stay here. A cozy house with so much property to walk and enjoy the outdoors. Great views of hills…the barn on the property is huge and a marvel. East Aurora is close too. Very happy!

On the Farm
Beautiful farmhouse and property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds were the most comfortable for all. The leaves were changing by the day! Kitchen was well equipped for meals at home, however we did enjoy Route 78 Pub in Strykersville and the Pine Lou ge in Cowlsville. Thank you Diane for everything!

Beautiful Western New York
We visited some friends living in the town of East Aurora for 4th of July weekend. The property is super close and it was great to have our own little get getaway during the busy weekend. The farm felt like home. Our 3yr old had a great time playing ball, throwing rocks and exploring around the property.

Beautiful Farmhouse
What can I say this house was SUPER comfortable and spacious for me and my family! We came in for my daughters college graduation and was super lucky to stay in this gem. It’s super quiet, TONS of space for small children to play in, the beds are so comfortable we had to DRAG my mother out of hers! The property owner answered questions IMMEDIATELY and was super easy to reach. My daughter LOVED the tree swing. The only alarming thing is it’s well water so when we turned on the water it did smell like sulfur. But after running the water frequently the smell died down. Having NEVER lived in a farm or used well water this was shocking but Diana was super comforting and reassuring when I called her about it and educated me on farm life! I WOULD DEFINITELY stay here again!!!!

Great location for rural Western NY. Well equipped and plenty of space. Built in the 1880's with old cemetary in back. Driveway is not paved so don't wear good shoes if it's been wet recently

A Piece of Heaven in the Country
We had a wonderful stay over the Christmas Holiday. The property is great and there is tons of land for the kids to roam around! The house is spacious with everything we needed for our stay. I usually don’t sleep well away from home but the whole environment was relaxing and I must say the beds were extremely comfortable! We were fortunate enough to have snow a couple of the days and my boys had such a good time having snowball fights and running around in the snow, being from Texas this is something that my kids have never had a chance to do. There are towns within 20-30 minutes of the property with restaurants and grocery stores for anything you may need as well. Diana, the owner, was extremely helpful and friendly and even let us have a late check out when our plane flight was changed unexpectedly! Thanks for a great experience! I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to stay in the area!

Beautiful country property!
We LOVED the farm house and all the outdoor space for the kids the run around on. It was a wonderful retreat from our normally chaotic life. Reasonable drive to Niagara Falls and Letchworth State Park, and all the country roads were so pretty to drive on.

We hope to be back to "our farmhouse" soon!
We LOVE this place! The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean and very well stocked with more than everything we needed. Diana left us plenty of bottled water and more. The flower garden, wildflowers, sunflower field near the house, the path up into the farmland, and the trees are all beautiful. We were there in late September, but I'm sure it's lovely in any season. I had at first wondered if it would be too much of a drive from our destination of East Aurora, but it's not only a quick and easy drive, but the rolling hills and farmland of the area are absolutely beautiful! Any time we are back in the area, this is definitely where we will want to stay.

About the host

Hosted by Diana Meyer

Host profile image
David and Diana Meyer have purchased from the family members his grand parents farm. Lovingly restoring the house and barns to help save an important part of our family history. Our area is an important part of a valuable farming heritage, so quickly becoming extinct. Just looking at so many beautiful barns that were built by families with so much pride and skill, now failing into ruin; due to neglect and lack of funds. Our family still enjoys spending time at the farm, sharing holiday meals and adventures over weekends. The guys enjoy hunting as their grandfathers and uncles have done in the past. By sharing our place with others allows us to keep the land and love of this space a living dream for our generations to come.

Why they chose this property

We both were born and raised in this area. David helped his uncles with many dairy chores, from milking to haying and gathering sap to make maple syrup. All the family Christmas celebrations were shared in this farm house with Grandma Rose. Diana grew up a few miles away on a dairy farm with her parents and eight siblings. So the pride of farm and land were instilled in us both from our very beginning. This is what we have shared raising our three children and hope to pass on to our six grand kids.

What makes this property unique

This marvelous house has raised and nurtured six generations of our family. The many house additions that were tended to by family members for the space necessary to raise their growing family. The visitors that spent a working summer away from their distant city life. Or a young couple spending time on the farm as they traveled on their first trip as married folks. The return of a young soldier from WWII, injured at war but now safe at home with the people who prayed for his return. We have delightful photos of the barn being raised and family weddings hosted on the lawn. Just an easy Sunday afternoon with friends and siblings that came to share the talk and shade of the trees. Come and enjoy lemonade and sitting on the porch. You too can just enjoy counting the cars that pass by. This is America as it was meant to be lived and loved.
