About this property

Homely and Sunny 3 Bedrooms Chalet to Enjoy Vacation or Work in High Mountains

The Chalet lies in a wonderfully sunny position on the edge of the beautiful village of Saas Fee and has outstanding views of the Saas Valley. Renovated completely in 2005, and continuously improved under the new ownership, the chalet is built over three floors and consists of 3 double bedrooms with balconies, master bedroom benefiting from en-suite jacuzzi bathroom and a terrasse. Living room is a large open plan living space with a modern open plan kitchen, fireplace and balcony. There is also a shower and toilette bathroom, and a storage room. There are large balconies on each of the three floors.

All modern conveniences are provided including LCD flat screen TVs and DVD players in the master bedroom and living room. An X-Box 360 and games, Playstation 2 and games, MP3 Sound Dock in the living room, WiFi internet, computer corner with desk and printer, large wood burning stove/fireplace, dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, extractor fan, high quality furniture including large L shaped leather sofa in the living room. The kitchen is very well equipped including the pot for slow cooking and a raclette and fondu set.

This chalet is primarily our own family chalet which we use in winter and summer. When we do not use the chalet we offer it for rent and we expect our guests to look after it as if it was their own. Everything we use is left for the guests to use, and this will include, coffee and tea, oil, vinegar, spices and similar, that we have used. And we encourage our guests to leave whatever is left over for the next user. Books, maps, DVDs, everything is the same for us and for our guests.

We have unlimited internet, a small desk, all in one printer, spare paper and ink cartridges, various electrical connectors which we use when we "work from home" from the chalet. So we recommend it if you need to work from home. Members of our family do it very often. A perfect place to mix pleasure with being a digital nomad.

Access to ski lifts is on foot (~800 m) or by free bus. If you do not want to bring your skis home every day there are many storage facilities at the bottom of the slopes, and a lovely walk to the chalet.

There is a separate piste and lift exclusively for sledging and additionally that piste is lit and open one evening a week.

Skiing is possible at several other lift systems in the Valley or in Zermatt (about 45 min by car, bus or train). When buying ski passes there is choice of various ski areas. Various ski passes schemes are offered every year and it is well worth checking the current offer in advance.

Several ski schools operate and the resort is very popular with snow borders. There are extensive facilities for children.

Summer activities are as good as the winter ones, some will say even better! Biking is popular in all its variations, walks of all degrees of difficulty, and many other activities are offered in Saas Fee and vicinity. Very popular are tours with private guides to the more challenging peaks.

Resort Activities: Ice Skating, Sledging, Bob sleigh, Ice Pavilion, Snow tubing, Ice Climbing, Snow Shoe Trekking, Husky Dog Rides, Winter and Summer Hiking, Cross Country Skiing, Tennis, Badminton, Indoor Swimming Pool, Sauna, Whirlpool and Steam Bath, Mountain Biking and Cinema are all available in the village of Saas Fee. And every year some new interesting and sporting activities emerge. Equipment is very easy to rent.

When you book the chalet we send you a "User's manual" for the chalet and the map of Saas Fee. There is also some practical information in it and we are happy to help you with any special questions you may have.

Heel fijn huis

Surprisingly cosy accomodation
We spent almost 2 weeks in Saas Fee, and staying in Chalet Olivia assured a variety of things to do, both outdoors and indoors. If we got tired of skiing, hiking and sledging, staying at the chalet felt like at home. Dozens of books (also for children), movies (both classics and those recently released), X-Box, Playstation 2, a wood stove in the living room, jacuzzi... As a family cook, I have to mention nicely equipped kitchen where you can prepare and serve any meal, including the equipment for fondue and raclette. I also liked those homey details, such as scented candles and a bowl of nuts. Most important to us is that the chalet is situated in the peaceful and very sunny part of the village - we could enjoy sitting on the balcony during the warmer days and were able to watch the goats wandering around near the chalet.

Perfect family chalet in beautiful Saas-Fee
Our first visit to Saas-Fee, and certainly not our last. So much to do in the summer, we stayed 10 days and could easily have made it a longer visit. Cable-car system is excellent, and takes you to 3500M peaks. Our favourite was the Hohsaas with walking on the glacier in summer heat; so good we visited it twice. Chalet Olivia is excellent for a family with 3 good bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Top-floor open plan living room / kitchen makes for a sociable holiday. Look forward to visting again in the winter.

I am a retired pediatrician and we have bought this chalet to be enjoyed by our extended family. But when we are not using it, we offer it to guests to enjoy it and help us meet the cost of running and maintaining the chalet. The chalet is the same for us and for our guests.

Why they chose this property

We have looked for a place in the mountains for many years. Our requirements were many and they were difficult to meet. When we thought we would never find it we discovered Saas Fee and this lovely chalet. And we made up our mind very quickly and never looked back. Our four grandchildren, age 20 to 8 love it and we are very happy with it.

What makes this property unique

High up so that even sleeping there is a health benefit. Lovely walks and excellent summer holidays. Certain snow and skiing for everybody of every expertise. High mountain feel and atmosphere. A village without cars and everybody has to walk and soon starts to enjoy it (we have never yet used the free electric buses that seem to go everywhere)
