Dianne was very nice to work with and answered all questions promptly, and was very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area, distances to places, etc.. The home is as described, and is lovely. Spectacular views and many extra amenities, especially for enjoying the lake and dock. The lake is fairly quiet, and we saw loons on the lake, and moose not far from the house! Our granddaughters used the kayaks, row boat and paddle boats and even swam off the dock! Wet suits are there as well.
Kitchen well stocked for cooking meals, bring your own fresh foods, plenty of seating, most comforts of home. Plenty of towels, and supplies for a weeks stay. Fire pit great for evening hot dog roast and s'mores. Lawn chairs, outdoor games, activities, and picnic tables as well.
Great location for seeing lots of sights. We took day trips, going to Seward from Anchorage, before heading to the house, where we did Seavey's Ididaride Dog Sledding (on land, not snow) our first day. Also went to Denali doing the shuttle tour another day, and to Whittier, on the 26 Glacier Tour, and did the Alaska Rail train and raft tour out of Anchorage to Whittier, during our week's stay. Did a 9 mile round trip hike up to Reeds Lakes from Hatcher Pass. Some difficult terrain, but beautiful scenery. My husband brought home a broken ankle as a souvenir! :-( Be well prepared for the hike, it is wilderness, and grizzly's were spotted in the days before we did the hike. We highly recommend all of those activities. Plan lots of driving time if you intend to see lots of sights. Many 2 lane roads, but beautiful scenery everywhere!
Besides not being able to stay longer, our only disappointment was the hot tub, listed as an amenity when we booked the house, needed repair and was not working during our stay. Our son and family were quite disappointed, since we only found that out a week before our stay. And it would have felt wonderful after a long day hiking or touring! Hopefully it will be repaired soon.
Overall I would highly recommend this home. It is perfect for extended family. Plenty of bathrooms and sleeping areas, games and places for everyone to have their own space.
My husband and I, and our son, daughter-in-law and 3 older teen granddaughters were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, it was a perfect place to do that, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Alaska is amazing, and everyone we met was very friendly. Even at the Alaska Urgent Care center in Anchorage
