About this property
A Hill Country Get Away
A single story strawbale adobe home sitting on 13 private rural acres west of downtown Dripping Springs; 40 minutes south west of Austin; 30 minutes east of Johnson City; 1 hour north west of San Antonio. Our home has available 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, 2 full baths, and an open living, dining and kitchen, with a small deck off the dining area.
We will provide a house sheet with how everything works. We would want you to treat our Texas home as you would want your own to be treated.
Front gate needs to be kept closed since our llamas roam loose on the property.

Big owners house in large lot of Texas Hill Country
A large house by the owners with many amenities on a large lot. The outside is a rural piece of Texas Hill Country. Bird watching, flowers and the three lamas belonging to the property are a relaxing peaceful environment.
We were visiting the Hill Country and to see the solar eclipse. The house was clean, beds comfy, and it made a great place for a home base. Had good communication with the host. We also liked being greeted by the llamas when we arrived! Would stay again!
This was the third time we’ve stayed at this wonderful spot. The location nestled in the hills is so lovely. Quiet, serene. A great place to relax. And the llamas are a great treat.
The house is very comfortable. Nice kitchen. Comfortable bed. Kind of hard to leave!
Very relaxing place to stay to get away from city life. The llamas were interesting to watch. Would definitely stay here again when visiting this area.
This small ranch has a beautiful view and is a perfect location to visit local state parks and still close enough to town to take advantage of those amenities as well. We loved seeing the llamas grazing and attempting to pet them. They would eat their food from a bucket we held, but shied away from touch. Meg always made sure we knew about approaching bad weather, but other than that just let us enjoy her wonderful home. Thanks, Meg!
If you're looking to get away from it all and be far away from the hustle and bustle of the city this is it! We loved the rural setting! The quiet sounds of nature and the llamas! The views were spectacular and the home was beautiful! We can't say enough good things about this property. We would definitely stay again and Meg was a pleasure to work with.
This was our second time staying at Meg’s property. The house itself is wonderful - spacious, clean, comfortable. And the property is lovely if you are a fan of the hill country. Lot’s of space and quiet. The llamas are an extra, special treat!
Was beautiful and very peaceful with lots of wildlife!
This place is amazing it was as if we were visiting family. Very homey feel! Definitely would recommend and we will be going back! The Llama’s were sweet and a bit shy but enjoyed the snacks they provide you to give them.
Very quiet location - just what we wanted after driving in to the Austin Grand Prix for 3 days. Enjoyed talking to the lamas, though they didn't have much to say other than how they enjoyed the Llama snacks. We also saw our first scorpion in the wild and left it alone. So, a very successful stay in the hill country!
There wasn’t any kind of reflector tape, lights, flag, or anything to be able to see the turn in to the gate in the dark. The house phone wasn’t working and our cell phones didn’t work on the property. Pretty dangerous for senior citizens in case of emergency. The house and beds were very comfortable.
We brought 2 of our 5 year old granddaughters and had a wonderful time feeding the llamas is something they will remember for a life time. House was as described and pictured all the comforts of home. Meg was extremely helpful and we are hoping to return someday with other grandkids.
This is a great place for just a place to get away and to shut down from the harried lives that we live. Everything was just as presented and we had a wonderful time. Caution: the Lamas spit! LOL they are a lot of fun also.
We all enjoyed our stay. This beautiful, secluded, property was perfect for friends to relax and catch up. We had big plans to visit some local wineries, distilleries and other local attractions, we never left the house.!! Meg was quick to respond to any questions we had. We are planning a visit back in the fall.
I loved this property and was able to give myself quiet time - house is full of character and charm! Bed was comfortable and home is very cozy! Llamas are friendly and will put a smile on your face.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this property and the llamas were like the icing on the cake! They were so sweet and loving and greeted us whenever we were there. The house is very unique and well organized. We loved sitting on the deck enjoying coffee or wine, depending on the time. We definitely had a wonderful, relaxing trip!
The house is very clean and it is a great location, soothing our needs perfectly. Centrally located so that we could go hiking at Pedernales state park and Reimers Ranch. Meg is a great host. And the llamas were the highlight of our stay. Getting to give them a treat every day was wonderful. They are very special creatures. We would definitely stay here again the next time we come to this area.
The house and property are just lovely. The house is very spacious and clean. The deck on the back is a great spot for relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying the quiet of the hill country. The property is, I believe, 13 acres, a big space that gives you immense privacy. At night it is very dark, so stars are fairly visible (though the light from Austin doesn't make this a great stargazing spot). We really enjoyed being there - a great spot to get away from the bustle of every day life. And the lamas are a wonderful treat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The llamas are an excellent greeting committee, and really add a dimension to staying in the hill country that you didn’t know you needed. The house is great- everything you need and then some. Views from the property are gorgeous. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our time here, relaxing on the patio, watching the llamas, and no distractions from the rest of the world. We were in town for a wedding, and this was the perfect place to get away.
Spacious and clean wonderful kitchen to work in. Two couples could easily stay without tripping over each other. Town is close enough to be convenient ànd far enough that you feel completely alone. The gate is easy to open and close. We enjoyed it so much we arranged to stay an extra night. Husband now wants a couple of llamas.
Everything was absolutely perfect! Meg was super helpful and quickly responded to our questions. The house was amazing and the llamas were adorable! Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet escape from city life!

Why they chose this property
Our home was part of Buffalo Bend Ranch and for over 20 years we raised bison and llamas, and we shared our ranch with goats, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl and many rescue dogs and cats. This was, and remains, a sanctuary to us. We have a seasonal creek in the back acreage. We enjoy the wildlife, the flora, and the weather the Hill Country has to offer. We hope you do too.
What makes this property unique
Our home is a strawbale adobe home. We built the house ourselves 22 years ago with the help of many friends and neighbors. Every door and window has a story. Our walls are over 18 inches thick and we mean it when we say "if these walls could talk"!
