Deep Water Cabin

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

Deepwater Cabin is a solid timber framed structure built into the mountain side on the edge of the National Forest in a true, remote wilderness area. It is one of the very last waterfront dwellings up-lake, to the Northwest, that is still accessible by car. The cabin's grass- and fern-covered sod roof blends into the vegetation of its perch on a rocky point surrounded by sparkling blue Lake Chelan waters.

The location on a point gives expansive views up, down, and across the lake. Deepwater is half an hours’ drive from Chelan, far from any town lights, so one can see countless brilliant stars on a typical clear night. Watch shooting stars under the Milky Way out on the patio. In the day you will watch flocks of swallows swoop through the air catching insects, and osprey flying by, patrolling the shore for fish.

To access the lake, a trail switches back through rocky terraces down to a solid, newly built stairway and dock. At the clear, deep waters edge, swimmers can launch into the refreshing blue depths.

Boaters will have access to explore miles and miles of wilderness shoreline with a kayak, canoe or paddle board. Be aware that the lake access at Deepwater is very steep, so launching may be easier at the nearby 25 Mile State Park, a short paddle to the South.

Inside, the cabin is classic and cozy, with big sunny windows and two double patio doors. The two wings provide a sleeping space and a living/dining area, with the bath and kitchen in between. The bathroom has a new washing machine and a shower with plenty of pressure; pure water pumped straight from Lake Chelan! There is a drying rack for your wet laundry, which solar drys quickly on a typical sunny blue sky day.

The compact kitchen offers all major appliances offering all you need for great foodie meals, and the sunny, open patio is wonderful for reading, having meals and enjoying time together and an amazing place to relax. A small gas grill awaits your steaks or the beautiful trout the fisher-persons in the party may bring up from the lake, where the big fish swim by the dock.

A very comfortable queen-size log bed will accommodate two, while the living/dining area features a brand new fold-out full-size sofabed and an older long sofa for lounging and sleeping, accommodating one or two extra persons. The cabin is most appropriate for a couple or small family, it can sleep up to four. It's best to bring your own sleeping bags for any more than two, since the linens provided are for the queen bed only.

The historic, scenic South Lake Shore Trail built in the 40s by the CCC parallels the lake shore and begins just a short walk away. Larger boats can be launched at Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park, which is less than a mile from the cabin. Miles of Forest Service logging roads meander the hills just behind the property, providing access to National Forest lands for mountain bikers to explore the unparalleled wilderness beauty above the lake.

The town of Chelan has good restaurants, fun shops, a great health food store, and plenty of local wine tasting. The region has many wineries and vineyards, so you may want to take a day to sample the local fare.

One day of your visit can be spent on the Lady of The Lake, the local ferry, going up-lake to the remote community of Stehekin, which has a great bakery and access to amazing hikes in the North Cascades National Park. Another day trip nearby could be to Holden Village, a Lutheran Camp 12 miles up into the mountains, which also can be reached on The Lady of the Lake ferry. This is a playful, festive intentional community which is open to guests and provides meals and full accommodations in a village that was once a thriving copper mine.

Deep Water Cabin is an ideal setting to explore and play in the water and mountains, relax and refresh, and soak in the bright sunny skies and the vast deep blue beauty of the lake. Come enjoy a getaway in gorgeous Lake Chelan!

Deepwater Cabin
The cabin and amenities were very nice. We enjoyed our stay. However there was one wrinkle we must make note of. We were disappointed that the propane grill didn’t work. We had a nice meal planned around it based on the advertised availability. When we contacted host services for assistance the situation was not addressed and no attempt to correct the problem was attempted. This would have been an easy fix if someone had checked the propane tank to ensure it functioned properly in the first place.

A little rustic cabin
Overall we enjoyed our stay! It was nice to be right on the water but we were disappointed we couldn’t use the dock for boats or our kayaks. We did get some good fishing in off the dock. The place had everything we needed but definitely needs a deep clean. The grill didn’t work for us but there is a small grill on the side of the house. The bedding was dirty and the place had lots of cob webs and bugs inside. A rustic place like this I can understand though. I would just recommend if you have 4 people bring an air mattress and your own bedding. Our biggest complaint were the beds. It says it can sleep 4 but the pull out bed is broken and is extremely uncomfortable. The main bed is also very uncomfortable with flat pillows. Luckily we brought a cot to set up in the other room. Wifi hardly worked and we didn’t have any service out there but we kinda expected that from reading other reviews. Not a huge deal for us but just be prepared. It was still very peaceful and relaxing and vacasa was awesome about communicating with us!

lake lovely but major fly infestation
Horrid infestation of black flies and fruit flies. Left after first night, and would've left same day if hadn't just drove 4hrs to get there. Also had emailed week before to ensure bbq was functional, advised it was replaced, but not the case. The lake view- amazing. The cabin needs serious attention.

Quaint, private and secluded cabin (our fav!)
Love the location of this cabin over this part of Lake Chelan. Quaint cabin that is literally at the end of the road! Very secluded and private- which we love and is why we choose to stay here time and again!

Beautiful, private and cozy place to stay in Lake Chelan
I spent the weekend at the cabin with our two teen daughters and my husband. We were pleasantly surprised at how well appointed the kitchen was. We had all the tools we needed to cook our meals. The views from the property were absolutely stunning. It’s very private and quiet. It’s quite a drive to town so if you are wanting to be in the middle of the Chelan action or close to stores this isn’t the place. If you are wanting peace and quiet and private access to the lake, it’s amazing. The walk down to the dock is steep, not for people with accessibility issues or who can’t handle steep, loose terrain. For my group, it was great. We had zero cell reception the house but there is WiFi that worked for us in the house and on the patio outside. It would be a perfect retreat for a couple but it still worked well for the four of us.

Don’t rent with this grouo
Cabin looked lovely but we never got the chance to experience it. Weeks after we reserved a huge fire started in the area. It’s now July and it’s expected to burn through October. One of our party can not handle smoke. We asked to reschedule but we were refused. We found communications difficult and once we did connect, the company was inflexible and uncaring. Will never rent with this group again.

Buyer beware
The cabin itself was lovely, quiet, and had a nice view of the lake. I was told in the fine print, after booking the property, that the dock MIGHT be unusable due to lake level. No might about it, if the lake isn't full, it won't be usable. My plan B was to launch kyaks at the nearby state park. What we weren't told was that ongoing utility work was going to have the only access road dug up and impassable for up to an hour at a time. Complaints about the road, cleanliness, and how to dry dishes resulted in a text from Vacasa saying the local team would contact us. They did not contact us. It's a shame that such a nice place was ruined by poor customer service. I'll never use Vacasa again.

Relaxing Getaway
Great location, right on the lake, although a bit of a challenging walk down to the dock. We were shocked to find the dock 8 ft above the water! We fully understand why now, but it would have been good to know up front. Fshing was challenging at best fro the dock. I did launch my kayak down the road and had some solid rainbow trout fishing. We will be back.

Adorable rustic cabin on the lake!
You can't beat the amazing lake view @ this super cute cabin tucked away in the woods. While quaint, it has everything you need for a fun weekend getaway. Full kitchen, plenty of outdoor seating on the patio - we grilled fresh salmon and took in the lovely views at sunset. You definitely need to be prepared for an "off the beaten path" unfinished, winding dirt road to get to the house. We accidentally took a wrong turn on our way in and got a little stuck on a gravel road so I would bring our SUV next time vs our smaller lexus but once we got there it was so nice and relaxing. That is exactly what we were after. :)

Perfect seclusion
I don’t know how well this rental will work during the busy season, but it definitely worked perfectly for us! A scenic thirty-minute drive into Chelan for day activities, and scenic views both inside and outside the property. On a less windy day, grab a bottle (or 2) of wine and sit at the dock. So beautiful and relaxing. A small but well-stocked kitchen for stay-at-home meals, and plenty of comfy sitting in the living room area. Great internet! Bring your own viewing device for a stay here- there is no TV. Absolutely recommended for anyone thinking of staying here!

Great stay once you leave the house
Everything about the outside area of this rental is great. The view is excellent, the dock is perfect and a lot of fun for swimming or fishing, and it is just private enough to feel like you're out in nature. The house itself leaves a lot to be desired. It feels like they took an old rustic cabin and figured out the absolute bare minimum amount of money they could put into it to make it a rental house. Everything is pretty sparse and it sort of feels like roughing it in some ways. If you visit in the warm season, you have to leave one window open with at least one of the two provided plastic fans noisily running all night just to keep the house from getting super hot. There is no AC if that's not obvious. The doors don't feel like they lock very securely. By that I mean that they could probably be pulled open by a strong tug even when they're locked. There is no dishwasher. The refrigerator is small and has flimsy shelves. The kitchen has only the most essential items, which is fine but we found a couple of times when we wanted a sheet pan or plastic wrap or foil or something that other rentals typically provide. There was also no laundry detergent provided. Overall, this rental just does not have the supplies that most other rentals have. The shower door does not stay shut. We tried holding the door shut with one hand while we showered and still ended up with a big pool of water on the ground outside of the shower after every time we used it. The lighting isn't great and the strange solution they found for that is to string outdoor patio lights around the ceiling that you have to climb on a chair to plug in/out to turn them on or off. The smoke detector did not have batteries in it and was also obstructed by some beams the owners had stored in the rafters right in front of the smoke detector. Huge fire hazard. On top of all this, the house was very dirty when we arrived. There was visible dirt in the coffee maker carafe and on the coffee maker itself. There was a trash bin full of rakes and tarps right next to the front door. I'm assuming this was Vacasa's fault so my star rating ignores the cleanliness of the house.

We absolutely loved the view and the cabin is cute and cozy. A little hard to find so make sure to get there during the day unless you know where you are going. Not child friendly so if you have young kids you definitely have to watch them very closely.

Great view better dock.
Property is great. The weather was a bit smokey but that didn't stop the fish from biting. Fished all day and relaxed in the evening with a great view. Property is tight for a 18ft fishing boat. Plan on unhooking the boat and muscling it 180 degrees and rehooking to the truck.

Amazing (long) weekend getaway
This cabin was just as advertised; it was super cute, beautiful, and perfect for 2-4 (my partner and I went just as 2, but if you really wanted to bring a couple more, I think the space could accommodate +1-2). The views from the cabin/deck were so beautiful. I spent a lot of time outside taking in the beauty of the lake and mountain sides. We also had a lovely night looking at the stars, which had shown so clear in the sky! The access to the private dock was such an amazing thing to have. We swam and launched our paddle boards from there (noting/cautioning that one day the wind picked up rather strong after we got all the way to the other side of the lake. I can see how this could be dangerous to someone who does not have a lot of strength/endurance/experience with paddle boarding). The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils, which we used to cook 2 dinners, and some breakfast :) There IS Wifi (and it's pretty good speed!), which was a relief, because I got mixed messages from reading the listing/reviews. It would definitely be to everyone's benefit to make that more clear in the listing. My partner and I were very happy that there was warm, diffuse lighting throughout the space. This is so important for general atmosphere and feeling comfortable, but something that a lot of places don't get right.. We really appreciated that! There was one small hiccup, in that when we first arrived (and had to drive a long way) we found that the lock box combination that we were provided did not work, so we could not get inside. This was a huge bummer, because we knew we were a long way away from cell service, after a very long drive. We were lucky to have the grace of some great neighbors who happened to be around, and had a landline that we used to contact the local Vacasa representative. We otherwise would have had to troubleshoot remotely, which could have involved needing to drive back and forth multiple times before getting it right (indeed it took multiple phone calls with the rep before we arrived at the solution; the combo had been changed last minute but this information was not relayed to us). I think this a small miscommunication that has big impact on guests, especially if they're as travel weary when they arrive as we were. *PLEASE* try to avoid mix ups like that. We also would have appreciated a check out time of 1100-1200, as 10AM seemed a bit early (especially at the price we paid) but overall this place was well worth it. Thank you for the amazing experience! Ethan

Listing says boat parking, there’s not
Listing says boat parking, theres a vehicle with a tarp in the “boat parking” so we has to back our boat down a steep, curvy 80 yard driveway to get it down.. and in order to turn around we has to drive all over the neighbors property. 106 degree weather and no AC

5 Nights at Lake Chelan
This is a wonderful place to feel like you are in the wilderness yet a close 35 min drive from civilization. Very peaceful and quiet toward the NW end of the lake away from the crowds in the SE near the village of Chelan. No car noise and often wouldn't see or hear a boat for several hours. Stunning 180 degree view of the crystal clear blue lake and mountains. Lots of birds to watch. Cabin has a rustic charm, but has modern conveniences and is will appointed.

WONDERFUL, very private and relaxing cabin!
While a little bit hard to find at the point of contact, it was WELL worth it when we got there! What a secluded, lovely little gem! It was the most quiet, peaceful and relaxing place we have ever been and highly recommend it! Just the cutest little place with everything you need to have a relaxing vacation! Reminder that it is a good 35 min back to Chelan, so we recommend taking what all you need and just planting yourself there for the duration! Can't wait to come back!
