About this property

Large Secluded, Pet Friendly Cottage, set in 12 acres-Great Base For Exploring

Set in it's own 12 acres of grounds and pasture land, and surrounded by many more, Ffynnonddewi is made up of a traditional Pembrokeshire farmhouse and adjoining, converted barn and milking parlour, making it perfect for a multi-generational get together or if some of the party just need some space away from the group.

Furnished with lovely comfy beds, with Egyptian cotton linen and traditional Welsh throws, cushions and fluffy towels, you will feel right at home.

But that's where tradition ends, the kitchens are fitted with the latest modern appliances and gadgets and the house is served with superfast broadband and wifi which is also connected to the 4k ultra HD TV with freeview play and a Chromecast HD so you can stream your own media directly from your phone, tablet or laptop and whilst we do not have a cable or satellite package you can easily stream your own Sky or Virgin media Go package directly onto the fully internet connected TV

A perfect secluded base for holidays, celebrations, adventures, escapes or just to rest and relax.
Summers at Ffynnonddewi are all about fun and freedom, beaches, surfing and adventure activities as well as the great outdoors, or quiet walks along the Coastal Path.
You will be spoilt for choice with many of Pembrokeshire's best beaches close by, with the fantastic Newgale being just 5 minutes away.
The coast path and nearest beach is within walking distance from the house.

Winters are all about getting together with friends and family for celebrations and parties and snuggling down in front of a roaring log fire, and having no near neighbours you can really let your hair down.
The property underwent a complete refurbishment and conversion back in 2005 and recently underwent a full programme of further upgrades to an even higher standard.

Family group holiday
Wonderful house to stay, which worked perfectly for our extended family holiday. Lots to do around the area to suit everyone, and back to the barn for family meals. Clean, welcoming and well-equipped. We had a fantastic week that passed too quickly. Thank you Gareth & Luci, you were kind and generous hosts.

Lovely countryside stay in Pembrokeshire
Wonderful stay at Ffynondewi - Gareth and Luci were very easy to deal with, property as described, kitchen well equipped. Location is quite remote but that’s what we were expecting and did a first big shop on the way in Haverfordwest. the Pembrokeshire coastal path is stunningly beautiful with picturesque Solva and St David‘s nearby. BBQ grill and outdoor space were great. Good number of bedrooms and bathrooms.

Christmas Break in Solva
We stayed as an extended family and made good use of the separate spaces offered, the weather was very windy but lovely for outdoor walks and activities, with a splendid log burner to chat round the fire and play charades with the grandchildren in the evening! Happy family meals. A very moving visit to St David’s Cathedral also made our stay.

Superb property ideally located
Excellent week at Fynnonddewi. Properties are of a high standard, excellent finish with everything you could need during your stay. Plenty of field space around and a secure rear garden for our dog so we could relax outside. Minutes from Solva and a 10 minute drive to Newgale and St David’s. Highly recommend a stay here.

Great place for a family holiday
Ffynnonddewi provided very comfortable and well equipped accommodation for our family holiday. Rooms were all comfortable and plenty of bathrooms. The best feature was the big kitchen dining table which was great for family use. The kitchen was very well equipped with lots of cooking stuff as well as crockery/cutlery/glasses etc. The property was well located close to many beaches as well as St David’s/ Newport and all the lovely little villages.

Brilliant Pembrokeshire break
The property was ideal for our large group aged 4 - 81. Lots of space, well-eqipped, secure garden for playing and barbecue, really close to Solva village for basics, pubs, shops, etc and crabbing! Also short trip to Newgale beach - ideal for kayaking and body boarding. Host was great, very helpful and accommodating. Good time was had by all.

Good base for a great week in Pembrokeshire.
The owner Gareth was friendly and helpful, and we had good communication from him and Lucie prior to our arrival. The properties weren't quite as secluded as we were expecting from the description as the campsite is literally adjacent to them although this didn't cause any issues. The kitchen in the barn conversion is a great social space for a group of 14 adults and teenagers as was the garden and lounge and both properties are equipped with everything you might need. We had a good time and the location is great for exploring the local area and only a short drive to the beaches.

A peaceful experience
The house was excellent! A well equiped kitchen, comfy beds, plently of space and games galore. We made full use of the pool table. Downside is you need a car to get to the beach and the rabbit warren of roads is a bit of a challenge. Also was expecting more of a view from.the house. I would however thoroughly recommend this beautiful house and converted barn.

Family holiday
Spent our annual family holiday here and had a lovely week. Lots of room for everyone across the two houses, which were really well set up with lots of attention to detail. Had an issue with WiFi but Gareth endeavoured to sort it out asap. Loads of detail in the information booklet provided, really helpful! A beautiful part of Wales, stunning coastline and plenty of water activities to try out. No local pub within walking distance but Solva is only a short drive away and has some lovely ones to sample! Overall, a great stay, would recommend!

Special Family Weekend
We have thoroughly enjoyed our family celebration weekend at Ffynnonddewi farmhouse and adjoining Ty Dewi. Both accommodations were clean, comfortable, and extremely well equipped, there was nothing we were in need of. Luci and Gareth were warm and welcoming and had kindly left us some wonderful complimentary items to enjoy. We were most grateful to able to extend our last day (we really didn’t want to leave!) with a late check out. Thanks again to you both.

One of the best places we have stayed at
We came as a party of 9 with 4 dogs between us. The property was fantastic and the hosts amazing. Gareth organised and cooked the food for the birthday party that we had. It was spot on and even had left overs for the day after. I would recommend the property. Ideal for family and friends and with the enclosed garden great for the 4 legged members. Communications were great and lots of useful information given before we arrived. Hope to return in the near future. 10/10

70th birthday celebration
Our party comprised 7 adults, 6 children and a dog. Each property was ideally equipped with everything we needed. The outside space was ideal for the evenings and the grandkids loved sitting round the firepit. The location was perfect as a base for visiting the various local beaches but it's vital to check the tide times daily at whichever you plan to visit as at high tide the sand can disappear (Newgale). By consensus Whitesands was our favourite. Would not hesitate to recommend the property for a large party like ours.

Amazing Christmas with extended family
We rented both properties for a large family get together at Christmas. The photos do not do these properties justice. They were both fantastic. Clean, well equipped with a very homely feel. Luci and Gareth had decorated both properties for Christmas and had left us some lovely goodies and very thoughtful items (crackers and turkey tray!) The booking process was very easy and communication with the owners was brilliant - I had a few questions before arrival which were all answered timely and in depth. Thank you for a memorable Christmas. I would not hesitate to recommend.

A Wonderful Week at Ffynnonddewi
From the minute we arrived the farmhouse and dairy were exactly the relaxing location and accommodation that we all needed. The versatile accommodation perfectly suited our group needs, as we had age ranges from 17 to 77 across three different families. All the beds were comfortable, both properties spotlessly clean and tidy and it was sooooo quiet!! It was great that all 13 of us could dine together in the diary kitchen which has everything that you need to comfortably cater for this size of party. We were blessed with great weather and spent most evenings sat outside around the fire pit looking up at the stars. We only needed to contact the owners once and they were very easy to get hold of and sorted our very minor issue within 30 minutes of calling. All in our party commented on what a great place it was to stay at and there is every chance that we will re-visit in the future. Thank you Gareth and Lucy.;

Great holiday
The property inside was excellent no complaints about that. The outside was not what we expected as a listing of secluded property. The campsite was next to the house (the owner did say they were going to move it at some stage, but that didn't help us) so consequently we had campers driving past the house some at speed. Also children from the campsite playing very noisily at the end of the house and walking past the property very noisily, when we were getting our children to bed. The views from the house were not as expected either, with the bins etc on view opposite the french doors by the kitchen. I appreciate that the back garden was secure but we were expecting to be able to see a view from it. The location is great with more than enough to do for a weeks stay.

About the host

Hosted by Gareth and Luci Chapman

Host profile image
We are Gareth, Luci and Lola, the dog.
We moved from Oxford where Gareth ran his own building company and Luci worked in events.
We moved here looking for an easier pace of life, in a part Wales we loved, and knew well, having holidayed here for many years.
After searching for a few years we fell in love with Fynnonddewi and it's lovely rural location the moment we saw it and just knew it was the place for us.

We have only been here since November 2017, and are constantly upgrading to make your stay even more special.
We are always on hand to help whether it be issues with the cottage or information about the local area, and look forward to welcoming you to this lovely part of Pembrokeshire.

If your dates are not available please do contact us by following the "ask owner a question" link, we may still be able to help.
We very much look forward to hearing from you and welcome any questions about the property.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with natural beauty of North Pembrokeshire and the variety of things to do. There are peaceful walks, along the coast path or the Preseli Hills, or for the more active, coasteering, sea kayaking, or surfing.
There are beaches galore, many of which allow dogs or have a dog friendly area.
The choice is yours whether it's building sandcastles or exploring rockpools and many can be deserted even in the height of summer.
There is wildlife all around whether it be seals, dolphins or those at the Folly Farm zoo.
Pembrokeshire is a birdwatchers paradise with the islands of Skomer and Skokholm being some of the most important seabird breeding sites in Europe.
We have our own share of wildlife on site too with foxes, badgers and rabbits. Autumn and winter sees large flocks of ducks on our pond, along with large flocks of lapwings in the neighbouring fields, buzzards and red kite are often seen overhead and barn, tawny and little owls hunt alongside bats at night.

What makes this property unique

We are set in rural surroundings just a couple of minutes from Solva, surrounded by 12 acres of our own land and many more beyond that. We are directly about 1.5 miles from the coast which is easily accessible via a footpath direct from the property.
The nearest road is several hundred yards away so there is no need to worry about children and traffic.

Activities can also be arranged either at the property or elsewhere or we can provide a team of caterers, should the chef of the group fancy a night off.

We also offer a discount for whole weeks booked outside of the school holidays, which is automatically applied on checkout.
