Home away from home.
Lovely cottage, has everything you need for a quiet getaway. Host is really nice and the area is lovely. We had two dogs with us and they loved the enclosed field to run around in. The surrounding villages are nice to visit and plenty of pubs and public trails to check out. All in all a perfect holiday. We Will be coming back.

Brilliant stay, top host
We had a really enjoyable stay and Nigel is a brilliant host. Everything that you need is in the property and Nigel is very helpful. The children loved the 'walled garden' and the dog loved the private field. Will definitely return..

Cottage
The cottage is advertised as Limestone cottage on VRBO but the actual name of cottage is The Coach House,we had terrible trouble finding it we happened to bump into the cottage owners mother and she said she would take us to cottage after telling her the owner is called Nigel. otherwise the cottage is great and has everything you need you do need a car as it is remote.

The Coach House
Lovely old building in a fabulous location with everything we needed inside and enclosed garden outside plus use of the grass field behind for the dogs to walk and play in. Nigel the owner and all of his family there on the surrounding farm were very welcoming and friendly, good communications prior to arriving after booking, thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Remote vintage, dog-friendly coach house
The property is an updated coach house with vintage charm that is situated on a former farm amid the family-owned properties. It was quite difficult to find in the dark on arrival (access is past a farm courtyard and there isn't any phone signal), but the remoteness meant lots of quiet and calm. We went there for its remoteness to get some end-of-year work done and to have some outdoor space for our miniature dachshund. The property has a small, fully enclosed garden that is escape-proof even for tiny dogs. You also get access to a very large grassy field that is fully enclosed and where the dog is allowed to run around. The owner Nigel was very lovely and responsive and came by regularly to check-in on whether everything was alright and to refill the wood for the furnace. The house comes with a large and a small towel per person and bedsheets. For longer stays, a change of towels and more than one kitchen towel might be helpful! We ended up using the washing machine to clean the ones we had, and would recommend providing a drying rack in the house. The furnace was definitely a highlight and so was the quiet. One suggestion might be to add a space heater upstairs, since the house is a bit drafty (as to be expected given it's from the 1650s or so!) and the master bedroom is in an open space/the stairway as part of a gallery and there's no heater. Either way, we'd definitely come back again :)

Fabulous Family Break In the Peak District
We had a wonderful time at Nigel's cottage in Aldwark A week in the October half term with our 2 boys, 10 and 12 and the dog. Nigel and his family made us feel so welcome, loaded us up with firewood for the wood burner and gave us great tips for dog friendly walks We had brilliant weather and did a couple of big hikes on the Peaks as well as just enjoying the cottage and the fields behind Thank you Nigel, we will be back, Anna and Family

Aldwark stay
Property was as listed and had read several reviews . Perfect for 2 adults and our dog, fenced off garden so we relax knowing our dog was safe. Rural location but only 20 minutes or less to Buxton, 15 to ashbourne, matlock or bakewell. Several local pubs but check online opening times especially if you would like food.

Nice stay
Nice, cosy, traditional cottage. Mostly quiet location but the yard is shared with the owners son and children, so not always very private! My children liked playing out with them on their trampoline though 😊 The owner and his family are around and available for any help you need. Very friendly and welcoming. Kitchen has all the things needed for cooking. Things to note: The main bedroom is more of a mezzanine level above the lounge with curtains rather than a wall. Not a problem for us though really. There is a sofa bed so the cottage can sleep 6, but it would be very cosy!! The only negative for me that it was a shame the nice views are not very visible from inside the cottage as the main windows look out onto the yard. A bigger sofa would be better. The 2 chairs are not ideal for relaxing in front of the tv on an evening.

A relaxing and enjoyable week away
Rurally located in a lovely small hamlet yet within very close driving distance of Matlock, Bakewell and a host of other great places to visit and walk, the cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. Nigel was there to greet us on arrival which was nice and explained everything we needed to know however there is all the information needed in a folder should you need it. We needed to let Nigel know about the toaster which had stopped working which we could manage without using the oven grill but in record time, a replacement was provided! Nigel and other family members we met were very friendly. We had our daughters dog with us for the week and he settled in straight away. Would recommend staying at the old coach house.

Lovely cottage
Its situated in a quiet rural area which is what we wanted as it was for our babymoon. Its quaint with lovely knick knacks and a real fire!! The Internet works enough for streaming. The neighbours are really friendly. The cottage was clean throughout. I read on an earlier review the bed is uncomfortable, it's not!! It's so comfy, my boyfriend struggles to sleep normally and he slept like a baby. There was a problem with the heat when we arrived but Nigel sorted this out as fast as he could and was informative throughout the whole process and answered his phone fast etc. The information book was great, we went to the recommended Italian restaurant, the food was AMAZING!! We definitely will come back once our baby is born and holiday here in the future. Highly recomment. Thanks

Country cottage in peaceful surroundings
Well equipped cottage in a brilliant location ,near enough to all the locality has to offer, great walks, stately homes and unique villages. Cottage is ideal for couples or small families and dogs. The use of a large enclosed paddock to allow pets to have a good run enhances the property as well as having a safe enclosed garden. Highly recommended

Coach house stay
Overall a lovely place to stay. Just found the bed and pillows uncomfortable. But I guess that's a personal preference. Location was lovely. Not far from main towns. But you had the quietness of the country side. Even liked the sheep looking in the window.

Perfect winter getaway
Everything was very cosy and comfortable. Really enjoyed having the open fire. The kitchen was equipt with everything I needed and the bed was super comfortable. We were made to feel really welcome. The enclosed garden area was great to let my dog out and not worry about him. He also made good friends with the neighbours dog and enjoyed running around the paddock with her. Very central location to get everywhere easily whilst being quite remote. Lovely to see the stars at night with no light pollution and was so peaceful. Only thing location wise that would have been nice was if there had been a pub doing meals in short walking distance but I knew this when booking and ate out lunchtime instead and stayed in of an evening, so as long as you're aware beforehand it's fine. Really enjoyed a relaxing break with loads of sightseeing and would hope to make it back.
