Friends getaway
To be honest after reading some of the reviews I was a little cautious. No need, this cabin more than lived up to our needs and was clean comfortable, the two back decks were a wonderful bonus. If I has 1 concern it was the steep stairs. I am sure it is on the list because you could tell there was work that had been done. I would absolutely stay again.

Not what I expected
It wasn't worth the money. Starting with the driveway, it's vert steep (not mentioned in the description) and has holes and divots making the climb very difficult. The porch was dirty and not swept. The floors inside had not been cleaned. The couch was threadbare (the foam cushion was completely exposed. I used my own blanket to cover the couch. The microwave barely works and should probably not be used as it has rust on the inside. The dishwasher didn't work, although the owner did replace it while we were there. There was a dead mouse behind one of the toilets. We had to take all trash with us, which I've never had to do when renting a cabin. There are blinds that were broken. We would not choose to stay here again.

Value Stay
We loved our stay at the quaint, secluded cabin! The home was roomy with 4 bedrooms and 4 full baths (plus a loft bedroom.) The wrap around and tiered porch provided lots of outdoor living space and there was plenty of parking. Household items are a bit dated but for the value, it was not a concern!!! Inside was very clean although porch could stand a little sprucing up. One small car struggled a little on driveway but managed. For a dog friendly place, we will definitely return!!!

Liked the spaciousness of 4 big bedrooms. Enjoyed the hot tub. Not very bright and inviting though. Front door opened up by itself from the wind.

Very enjoyable
The hill going up to the cabin could be a slight inconvience but the gravel is set up in a way to make it easily accessible for small cars. The cabin was very nice and cozy it was great and accompanied our group staying very well. The hot tub could have been a little cleaner but was not enough to consider a concern. Overall a great cabin and great for a group of 8 as well as being convient to downtown and the local ski slopes!

Disappointing
This was our first trip to the mountains and my children and I were so excited and looking forward to having a beautiful cabin in the woods. I have to say, the location of the cabin is beautiful but we all were so disappointed by the cabin. It needs a lot of work. When we walked in the mildew smell was very strong! There was no ac units in the living room, dining room or kitchen which made it hot in the house. The furniture is old and worn especially the recliner that is torn up and looks awful. Only the TV in the living room worked (sometimes)Two of the kitchen chairs are broken. The cabin was dusty and dirty. Cobwebs everywhere. The kitchen and bathrooms were dirty . The range over the stove was broken. One of the worst things was the animal urine smell on the bottom level. It was awful and overwhelming. I will never recommend anyone I know to rent this cabin. We booked the cabin till Monday but we left Sunday morning. We could no longer deal with the smell and the condition of the cabin and my grandson and daughter developed some kind of welts and hives on their arms and legs. This was the first time I've used VRBO and I'm not sure I ever will again!! Sincerely, Michelle

Beautiful Cabin Getaway!
I had such a blast here! Loved the layout, the decor and especially the hot tub! Very spacious for my family of 4 and could of invited more! Love how the bed rooms are on all levels for privacy, the fireplace in the living room is very cozy and the 2 porches were a plus for grilling out. Kitchen has laundry room and cookware with a decent size table to sit at as well! Grandfather Mountain, Boone and Blowing Rock are just within a short distance which is one of the many reasons we will be back! :)

Very rustic and outdated but comfortable and affordable.
We enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable and the location was perfect. Furniture is worn out and appliances were old but worked sufficiently. Kitchen had everything we needed (except wine glasses :) ). Flood lights were not working or out which made it hard to find your way from car to house in the dark. Some lights were also out in the house. Furnace is located in a basement bedroom so you hear it go on and run at night. House was clean and nice having private bathrooms for every bedroom. Loved the big decks and the grill was a plus!

Dark, Dirty, Dingy, Disgusting and Disappointing!!!
This was the most disappointing experience I have ever had with a rental from VRBO or anywhere else for that matter. I took my sisters to celebrate a 6 month recovery from a heart attack. This cabin was so disgusting that we brought our baggage in the front door, took a look around and realized we could not spend even one night there. Here is what we walked into and I have the pictures and video to prove it: • Dead bugs and bug debris in the bathroom drawer, along with a wet rag and used bar of soap with hair in it - next to the blow dryer • Pillows on the bed in main bedroom smelled like sweat and perspiration - didn't even check the others • Absolutely filthy outdoor chairs and tables • Dirty windows, grimy and spotted and hard to see through in some cases • Large cobwebs in numerous places, both inside and outside of the cabin • Filthy under the kitchen sink • Bad smell throughout the cabin • Two small TVs stacked in a closet, not viewable from the bed, assuming they even worked • Only 3 glasses in the kitchen, but 16 coffee mugs? • Entire control panel missing from stove vent, exposing the interior • Blinds missing in downstairs bedroom, looking out onto hot tub, one window had blinds, the one next to it did not • 7 remotes on TV in main room, with no visible instructions how to use any of them to simply watch TV • Missing drawers in bedroom dresser Even worse than any of the items above were what I considered to be Safety Hazards such as: • Some type of growth that looked like mold growing on wall in the bottom floor, directly below the cracks in the wall • Several electrical hazards including dangling wires • Numerous lights not working, making the cabin very dark and potentially dangerous (i.e 2 of 4 not working in kitchen and 2 of 5 out in dining room) • Overwhelming smell of rotten fish (?) in the fridge which permeated throughout the main floor whenever the fridge was opened. • Top of handrail going into the basement was loose and apparently repaired incorrectly with a small Phillips screw which did not secure it properly I tried to work with the owner but sadly my dealings with him that day and afterwards were even worse than the cabin and there was no remedy. Based strictly on my experience, I would NEVER rent a cabin from him again.

Looked good from outside
Smell when we arrived was terrible 2lights out in kitchen. Had to purchase toilet paper and paper towels lights on rear porch not working No trash bags Left light bulbs for next people. Rained 4 days while we were there 2 leaks on roof dripping down on Picnic table on back porch. Just seemed like one thing after another. Would stay here again Seems like very little work going into place. Had several people stopping by while we were there for work being done to garage. Wish they would have informed us. Had small children with us and didn't know there was going to be people coming and going Extremely disappointing stay.

beautiful, secluded cabin, perfect for a family getaway. everything we needed right here.
My family goes to the mtns every year for Christmas and we try to stay in cabins. This cabin did not disappoint! From the minute we saw it, we fell in love with it and have already decided we want to come back here next year. We skied, hiked, shopped...in the evenings we sat by the amazing fireplace and played games at the table. I didn't have to worry about linens or towels, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. Overall, it was one of the best places we've stayed and we can't wait to come back. Thank you, thank you Mr Cherry for sharing your home with us!!!

Nice Cabin needed help
Upon arrival it was getting dark, there were several lights burnt out, had to get light bulbs. Several Cabinet doors were m issuing or broken. The laundry door kept coming off hinge. Cover plate was missing over stove vent, hard to see how to turn on and off. Mattresses in lower level sunken, heater did not work in one lower level bdrm. The couch was sunken and hard to sit on and get out of. Lots of miss matched chairs etc. We had a good time with family but this home needs new couches and mattresses and could use some tlc

Great place for a big family!
We spent a few days over thanksgiving in the cabin. There were 5 of us and I wish more of the family could have come because there was plenty of room for them. We enjoyed roasting chestnuts in the fireplace and relaxing in the hot tub. The kitchen was pretty well equipped considering we cooked thanksgiving dinner there. I would stay there again!

Convenient location
The location of this property was convenient and there was plenty of bedroom space for a multi-family group. There is a wide, lovely porch on both the front and back of the property. The main living room and kitchen is relatively small and the property could use some general maintenance, but it is comfortable for a long weekend.

The Cabin
This charming and cozy cabin was conveniently located to local restaurants and various stores. Even though it was in a great location the cabin was nested in a wooded setting and gave you the feeling of being out and away from everyone. This location gave you the best of both worlds. I would look forward to staying in this cabin again. Very Pleased Customer, Jean Taylor

Very nice mountain cabin
We had a very nice stay at this cabin but for only one night..... So we really did not get a chance to enjoy it and the quiet woods enough. Great place for a larger group and the WiFi was very welcomed as cell phone signals there are sometimes not great. Thanks for the very nice stay!
