Great venue for a family celebration
10 of us, aged 21 - 80, stayed for a weekend break to celebrate a diamond anniversary. The kitchen and dining room were fantastic for cooking (the aga made it warm and cosy) and gathering round the large dining table, or the smaller one in the window overlooking magnificent views. The lounge and some bedrooms had amazing views too. We made good use of the snooker table, table tennis and tennis court and enjoyed sitting in the garden and taking walks in the area. Beds were comfortable (and some very spacious!) in spacious rooms. We have never stayed somewhere that is so well equipped and in such a picturesque setting.

Family trip to Scotland
I can highly recommend Netherhall as a place to stay. It was perfect from the off and the place just kept on giving! From the beautiful views of the river, the great history of the house and family, the great facilities for the kids (tree house, swings, boating, tennis and even ponies to pet) to the beautiful wildlife - it was so lovely to see the birds in the morning and the red squirrels! There were even parts of the garden we discovered on the last but one day! Susie was always on hand, helpful in finding things for us to do and places to go. The area itself is great to explore - our days were filled with beaches, hikes and bike rides! Thanks again for a great stay and book it if you can- you will not be dissapointed!

Millenium re-visited!
As a group of six couples that have been friends for over 30 years, we were looking to create another New Year gathering to celebrate our 2000 Millennium gathering of 20 years ago! Netherhall was the perfect venue for our gathering! Netherhall is a large country mansion, set on the banks of the river Dee and was absolutely perfect for our New Year celebrations. This is such a beautiful family home, which radiates a family feeling in every room. The drawing room with large open wood fire was absolutely lovely, with stunning views over the Dee in morning at sunrise - a relaxing room where we were able to retire after dinner for entertainment. The dining room was perfect, a fantastic dining table which comfortably seats 12 - the perfect setting for our New Years eve dinner and ample space for us to provide our usual New Year cabaret. Breakfast around the alcove table with views again over the Dee were breathtaking. The country kitchen was brilliant, with space to relax and to gather with a lovely double Arga and electric oven. There was no shortage of utensils, crockery and pots/pans and plenty glasses - wonderful room! All the bedrooms were beautiful and well sized and the beds extremely comfortable. even though we stayed in winter, with frost on some nights, the bed linen was cosy and we did not feel the cold. The billiard room was a real bonus for the men - albeit the games were long (highest break - 8). The grounds are lovely and the walks along the Dee are truly wonderful. We ventured out to Castle Douglas - a lovely town with fantastic butchers and Bakery - and to Kircudbright, a lovely harbour town - well worth the visit. Overall, this is a beautiful family home - one can feel the atmosphere of a lovely family home and there is ample space for families with children - an absolute haven for children to roam and explore and for adults to relax and enjoy such peaceful surroundings. Susie Ross our host, has been excellent in ensuring that we were well catered for and with the assistance of her housekeeper, Maggie, we were well looked after. We as a group of adults (and two dogs) had a New Year stay to remember at Netherhall - truly magical house, surroundings and peaceful atmosphere - we shall treasure our memories of Netherhall and our New Year celebrations for years to come! I'm sure we will visit again and would highly recommend this lovely home. Many thanks to Susie Ross and to Maggie

Excellent
I have never stayed at a holiday home so well equipped and welcoming as Netherhall. The size of house, grounds and facilities were excellent for our family party of 8 adults and 5 children. It is a lovely, comfortable and warm big house, with lots to do inside and plenty of space for older and younger activities. It was especially welcoming because of all the family photos, paintings, books and toys - a real home away from home. The fire and the Aga are very welcoming too. We enjoyed boating on the river, playing snooker and tennis, local walks and the children enjoyed cycling in the grounds. The garden is beautiful. The children enjoyed collecting the eggs from the chickens. Everything in the house was very clean and worked well. On arrival there were 2 lovely home baked cakes. It was great having Maggie, the housekeeper next door. The local surrounding area is great for golf and beaches too. It was a real treat to stay and we all had a great holiday, thank you.

Due to work commitments we cannot be here all the time, so we rent it out for others to enjoy when we are away.
