Who we are
From the past…
The structure dating back to the 19th century was at the time the home of humble peasants, who drew their sustenance from it and placed all their possessions in it.
The characteristic conical shape, which today represents a symbol of the Itria Valley and arouses admiration in the eyes of the beholder, was typical of country houses.
Great importance was given to an area used as a cellar, called "Palmento", used for the production and storage of wine, inside deep wells excavated there. The particular stone construction, covered with white lime, allowed to maintain a cool climate in all periods of the year.
In front of the cellar, a closed cone attic with a small window, called "L’Oria", was intended to store supplies for the winter, fruit from the harvests, small savings and family gold. The house was all that was owned and contained the necessary for survival, among its many niches.
... At the moment ...
The dedication in the work, the sacrifice, the passion, the spirit of sharing, have kept this structure alive, adapting it to the traditions and customs typical of the times that have followed one another, giving it almost the word that echoes today in the "Trulli of grandmother Palma".
Thanks to Mrs. Palma, who inherited the name from her grandmother in addition to the house, this humble and poor nineteenth-century residence, rich in values and lived stories, has been transformed into a complex of three holiday homes (ULIVO, POMOGRANO, PALMENTO ) which hosts people from many countries, contributing to further cultural enrichment.
