Casa May is a wonderful two bedrooms country house nestled in the foothills of the "Costa Vicentina National Park, yet close to the award winning beaches of the Western Algarve. This 2 bedrooms country house is set within undulating countryside not far from the village of Budens and benefits from magnificent, wide open country views.
This Quinta is a traditionally built Country House full of character and has been tastefully modernised, yet retains many beautiful features such as high beamed ceilings and the pretty hard-wood cottage-paned windows.
The house consists of a bright entrance hall that leads in one direction to a spacious lounge with feature fireplace and a large bay window taking in the southerly view, overlooking the meticulously maintained gardens to the countryside beyond. Adjoining is a fully-fitted kitchen with oak cabinets, complemented by solid granite work-tops, plus a bright and spacious dining area (6-8 persons) with wooden double doors out on to the terrace and colorful landscaped gardens. On this side of the property, there is also a barbecue area with a secondary kitchen/utility room and two cobbled outdoor sitting areas surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens perfect for al-fresco dining and entertaining.
Facing south, there is a delightful covered terrace partially glased to protect from dominant winds which doubles as a second living area.
Back inside the villa, off the entrance hallway there are two generous bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom with king size 78" has a stunning large en-suite bathroom with a big walk-in shower and twin sinks. The guest bedroom with king size 78" as well is very spacious and the family bathroom is just across the hall. Both bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes with sliding glased doors. Fly screens have been fitted to most of the windows, allowing fresh air to enter in the summer nights.
All the rooms boast large windows that flood the house with natural light and afford lovely views over the gardens and open countryside. Central heating is available for those chilly nights.
Outside the front door a pathway leads to the spa garden and roof terrace with panoramic country views all around. The jacuzzi hot-tube is sunk into the landscaping, perfect for relaxing any time of the day or night as the whole area can be tastefuly illuminated, to admire the wonderful starlit sky of the Algarve nights.
Outside the fully automatic irrigated landscaped gardens there is a further 3 hectares (almost 7.5 acres) of land. One area is set with a multitude of different fruit trees, including peach, apple, plum, pear, cherry, mulberry, almond, fig and loquat. A small stream runs through the valley in the winter time. The land then rises steeply up to the hillside and is an untouched wilderness covered with ancient cork oak trees. There is a paved area under the shade of one of the cork oaks, the perfect spot for meditation and relaxing in a total immersion in nature.
Closer to the house, to the rear of the barbecue area, is a beergarden terrace with stunning views over the Vale Ruivo (the red valley) where a number of pine trees have been planted on the north side.
Casa May is perfect for anyone wanting to lead good life during his stay in Algarve, in a very private house surrounded by peace and nature, but by no means isolated. It is only 1.5 kms to Budens where you will find a large Intermarché supermarket, cafes and restaurants or 8 kms to the larger town of Vila do Bispo where all shops, farmacy and health center, daily fruit, vegetables and fish market and restaurants are available.
Its a 15 minutes drive to the larger city of Lagos, the former capital of the Algarve, which has managed in spite of great popularity with tourists to preserve both character and charm with its fort, walls and old quarter.
You can reach the quiet south beaches of Burgau, Cabanas, Boca do Rio, Salema, Figueira, Zavial, Ingrina within 5-10 minutes drive, or the wild beaches of the western coast well known by surfers of Castalejo, Cordoama, Beliche within 15 minutes drive, or the fabulous ones of Bordeira, Amado and Carapateira within 20 minutes.
