Great family trip
The house was in the perfect location and had the perfect layout for four generations ranging from 5 months to 88 years old. The layout of the house allowed us to spread out. It was the most well equipped rental we’ve ever had.

Great location
Very interesting house with a lot of history. Just realize it has some quirks. Loved all the fireplaces. The location is private, shopping is close by. The waterfront was perfect for our family. Sandy beach was great for the kids. Our family had a great time. Towels are provided but would recommend bringing more. Would love to stay there again.

Great Family Stay!
This was our second stay at this delightful property, it is perfect for our multigenerational group, including kids aged 10-18. The private beach was great for relaxing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and a little fishing. The large dining room table accommodates our whole group when cooking and grilling in. We all enjoyed the beautifully landscaped yard and fire pit. Perfect to relax after the beach, play yard games or set up outdoor movies. The kids LOVE the outdoor shower! Jon is a very responsive and attentive host. We noticed a hornets nest and sent a text to Jon with a picture. Jon called back immediately and got exterminators onsite to take care of the situation swiftly The family cannot wait to return! Thanks Jon!

Wonderful!
Great location and beautiful old property! Only complaint might be that the AC struggled to keep up and two en-suite showers weren’t quite enough for our group of 11. But mostly we had a wonderful time!

Another great stay!
This is our third year renting this property from Jon. The property is perfect for our young families. The private beach is calm, clean and safe for the kids. We love beautiful landscaped yard with the bunnies. The kitchen is large to accommodate all the at home cooking these days. Thanks for another great year!

Perfect Family Gathering Place!
There was something for everyone in our multi-generational group to enjoy. The private beach was perfect for relaxing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing and swimming. The kids enjoyed various yard games in all the open space, especially when the bunnies were watching! We all enjoyed ending the day by the firepit. Jon's beautiful home gave everyone in our party a place to be able to escape when they needed a break from the rest of the group. The kitchen had everything we needed and having the grill available was a great bonus. Really, the best part of our stay was Jon's generous hospitality and attentiveness to our needs. Thank you Jon!

Another great year!
This is the second time we stayed at Jon’s family house and it was just as lovely as the last time. Plenty of room for our big group. The beach and beautiful yard is prefect for the young kids. We would definitely stay again in the future.

Excellent family vacation!!
This beautiful old [kind of funky!] house was perfect for our reunion of my 2 children, their spouses, and 3 grandchildren, and Nana and Grampa. The owner was fabulous and even put up gates for the stairs. We had two 19 month olds who love to explore. The river was perfect for the kids! And the 4 bunny rabbits in the lawn who weren't afraid of us was really great!!! The W. Dennis beach is close, as is playgrounds, etc. I hope we can return again!!!!

Beautiful Cape House on Beach
We LOVED our stay at Jon's house. The house is perfectly located on the Bass River. The house was large for four families and more. We had plenty of space. The kitchen was well appointed and we loved the butler pantry to prep food and drinks. During the day we fished, made sand castles with the kids and BBQed on the gas grilled. At night, we made fires and roasted marshmallow in the outdoor fire pit. We loved giving the kiddies baths in the claw foot tubs. The lawn and gardens were well maintained. We loved so much and hope to make this a yearly trip. Thanks, Jon!

The home was as discribed, lovely refurbished Antique home with modern kitchen. Everything needed was available. The grounds were beautiful and easy ascess to the river, flowers were spread around the home to make you feel at home. We highly recommend this home for a large family reunion or just a great vacation.

The home is an antique: a lot of funky charm. But you cannot beat the location
Part of this house was built in Nantucket a couple of hundred years ago, and it's been moved twice. It was once part of the House of Seven Chimneys, of local fame. I'm not sure who Aunt Maria was, but the name has been attached to this house for a long time. It is right on Bass river. It has it's own beach. It sleeps twelve! We used it for a family get-together and the large living room was perfect. I has wi-fi, a washer/dryer, tons of room indoors and out. It has a lot of really old furnishings, and lots of books that are nautical of are of local historical interest. Electricity hadn't been discovered when this house was built, so some of the switches are in odd places. Plumbing was also added later. There has been a lot of settling over the centuries, so there's a lot that is not plumb, level, or square. (Walking across some of the floors is like walking on the deck of a ship underway.) If you require a modern house where everything is new and perfect, stay somewhere else. But I loved it. It was clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are numerous. There's plenty of parking. If you are new to the Cape, it's mid-cape location is an ideal starting point for explorations in either direction. If you brought a boat, there's a boat ramp at Smuggler's Beach, a half mile away, unless it's small enough to launch from the beach in front of the house, I guess. (I don't have a boat.) You can run out for groceries (or pretty much anything, really) and be back in 20 minutes. Anyway, we loved the place, all the guests loved it, and we had a wonderful time. (I could imagine living here. Yikes!)

A charming 200 year old home with a private beach
Not a McMansion, but a lived-in home. A true beach house with a great waterfront location and comfortable living and sleeping spaces. Also perfect for people who like to cook: a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a top of the line outdoor gas grill. There is a small private beach on Bass River and a 20-minute walk to a beautiful sandy beach on warm Nantucket Sound. Also fast WiFi and state of the art TVs with Xfinity DVRs. We shall return!

Come rent a week or so and consider owning this unique, historic, and beautiful summer/year round home.

Why they chose this property

Five generations of my family have enjoyed this home,
Antique, Water Front, Fully Modernized.
There are very few like this on the Cape.

What makes this property unique

Spectacular Location. This is the main living quarters of Charles Henry Davis' famous "House of Seven Chimneys". The rich history of this house includes being moved by barge from Nantucket to Cape Cod by barge in the Mid 1800s when it was already an elegant antique.
