Lovely Villa

The Villa was to a high standard , in a nice location within a 15 - 20 minute walk to the port. The Port area was as pretty as ever , we hadn't been for 5-6 years and the restaurants were all nice and busy , we would recommend prior booking though. The Villa had plenty of space and was well equipped , The UK TV being popular with us all being able to watch Cricket & Love Island ticked all the boxes for the 6 of us . The outside seating area was ideal for a bit of shade , spot of lunch or game of cards. If I had to nit pick on anything , all I would say is that both the Sun Umbrellas by the pool were broken wasn't an issue as had the shaded seating area , and 2 of the bathrooms didn't have shower curtains which led to lots of water on the floor after showering . It would of been nice to have the pool lights on in the evening also . This could be the management companies responsibility not the owners ? That said , I would highly recommend this Villa and would definitely consider booking again in the future . Many Thanks

Lockdown Getaway!!

Comfortable 4 bedroomed Villa. Grassy areas, BBQ and Pool. Most importantly, for us, was the childproof fencing around the Pool and Stair Gates inside the Villa. Fully fitted Kitchen and appliances, air-conditioning and fans.....a must during the summer months in this area. Easy to get to if you're flying in to Malaga or a twenty minute drive from Gibraltar.

Enjoyed our stay

Enjoyed the villa and pool which are described accurately. Communication and check in process very straightforward. Easy location to enjoy holiday from. Negatives were amount of noise at night from dogs barking and slightly run down feel of neighbourhood not helped by the closed down hotel and country club just don the road. On balance though a good place to spend a few days!

Family holiday

The villa was as described. The pool was a great size with more than enough sunloungers. Located in a residential area up a hill on the far side of the main road. Unfortunately there were some dogs but they didn’t spoil the holiday. Good 20 min walk to the marina, where you will find some excellent restaurants. Kids loved Garibaldis ice cream shop. There were also some good restaurants in Castillo Duquesa. Elizabeth was really helpful with any problems. Thank you had a fantastic family holiday.

Villa life with babies!

We are just back from a 4 week stay. We have two very small children and it worked perfectly for us. It’s a great set up and the heated pool is fab. We were able to manage the hill with the double buggy down to the port every day. Elizabeth was a pleasure to deal with throughout. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic villa with a super pool.

We spent most of our holiday at the villa and made full use of the swimming pool which everyone enjoyed including the eight-month old baby. The villa was very clean and well equipped. The sitting-room was spacious and great to have it opening out on to the garden. We had eight in the villa - anymore would have been a squash and the downstairs bedroom is really only a single room. The villa is in walking distance of the shops and town although it's hard work walking back up the hill with the shopping! The online shop was a great help when we arrived. We didn't hire a car. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

Great villa!

We were two families of 8 with children in age 7-11. We liked the pool area a lot, after a small problem with the heater it was fixed by the pool guy and it was lovely warm in the pool. Comftable beds and nice bathrooms. The grill and the terass was great! One thing that was not to our liking was that there were dogs barking threw out the night. The location in home away app is missleading the villa is not located were it says on that map. Elizabeth have been very helpful and overall We had a lovely time in the villa! Excellent Villa

Had a lovely stay with my family, spacious villa, gated around the pool was fantastic for our eldest grandaughter, nice large garden and an amazing chimney bbq, nice size bedrooms with 3 bathrooms, ample street parking plus a car port area that can be locked, overall we had a fantastic stay apart from the barking dogs in the early hours every morning, I have communicated this to Elizabeth and she will look into it, but don't take anything away from our stay, would recommend this property

Lovely family holiday

After a few teething problems (which were rectified to our satisfaction after contacting Elizabeth the owner) we went on to enjoy a lovely time in this villa. Everything worked as it should, kitchen was well equipped and even had indoor china and sturdy plastic crockery for outdoor use. Plenty of fridge/freezer space to stock up for an entire fortnight. Bedrooms had plenty of storage space and plenty of extra bedding if you needed it. Beds were comfortable and we all slept well.....My mother in Law loved her shower room in the master bedroom. TV and Wi-Fi worked well. Plenty of beach towels provided and the outdoor toilet a very good idea. Pool was clean and a very good size (The temperature of the pool was a little on the cold side for the older members of our group) and lots of pool toys and float aids were provided. The shutters on all the windows allowed us to keep rooms cool so A/C was not needed after the first couple of days. The walk down to the town was pretty easy and a nice walk, also fine to walk back up if you are young and fit but a struggle for the older members of our group.... they hired a car so were fine... taxis also reasonably priced. A couple of us hired bikes for a week ( Roadrunner at the Marina hire bikes and other equipment) and went on some lovely bike rides in the area. All in all we had a wonderful holiday and this villa was far superior to the one we rented the previous year. I think the only real downside was that the Golf course was pretty run down (comment from my father in law) Would certainly recommend for a family holiday.

Areas of concern....

The pool and the garden are beautiful and when you spend time outside thats key. But the inside needs lots of TLC. The villa has got to an age when things need replacing. Bathrooms need updating...cabinet doors worn...shower screen dirty and very loud squeeks. Bathroom blinds discoloured with time. Loose floor tiles. One bedroom bed damaged. Cushions dirty. Electric blind not working. Advertised heated pool....whilst appreciate sunny...freezing cold until about tea time. Asked for Duquesa Estates to help but werent interested and we had to then contact the owner who did then explain that the heated pool was extra but she told us how to turn it in. Unfortunately this was too late to give it chance to warm up by the time we set off back home. No shelves in oven. Unsightly array of wires next to a lovely fireplace. Dirty in a few areas. Electric gates obviously broken as now chained and padlocked. The pictures make it look like it was not overlooked...which it was. And there are obviously peoples houses who had dogs. On many a night the barking kept us awake.Whilst this feedback will not take away the fact we had a brilliant holiday because when you work hard for your holidays you make the best of what you have...and as we got married and this was our honeymoon....we had....in our opinion...overpaid for what we received.

Very nice villa

Recently stayed here. There were four adults and three children under 5. The facilities were exceptional. Everything we needed was available. Some of the property was a little 'worn' but there was sufficient items to make our stay very comfortable. The fencing around the pool meant that we didn't have to worry about the little ones. They were safe in the garden and couldn't open the gate.

Excellent

This villa has to be in our top 3 that we have stayed in. The pool is the best I have ever seen, large and so clean. The villa has everything you could need and the decor is too a very high standard. I would just like to say a great big thank you to the owner Elizabeth who went out of her way to sort out the pool heating for us as we had a 4 month old and the pool was just a bit too cold for him. Her response was fantastic. We have stayed in lots of villas throughout the world and a fair few in Spain and I have too say if we have ever had an issue it was never dealt with so quickly as Elizabeth dealt with this. The villa is located in a great position for travel not far away from the main coast road, shops and restaurants. If you dont want to drive it is an easy walk to the port which has all you need including a large array of restaurants. We will definitely be back to this villa next year.

Excellent Place to Stay in July

We stayed in this villa for a glorious week at the start of July 2016. The house is well laid out - lovely living room with open fireplace - excellent open air dining terrace next to BBQ is perfect for breakfast lunch and dinner- pool is large and well tended with walk in steps for easy access- master double bedroom has a luxurious wet room shower area and access to a large balcony overlooking the med and one of the greens at the adjacent La Duquesa golf course. The garden area laid to grass has some mature trees that you can sit under if the sun gets too hot. Sun loungers round the pool are comfortable. House is walled in traditional cortijo style The walk down to Duquesa is possible but recommend a taxi back - or even better drive down to the car park by the bridge and then walk across the main road on the bridge - this takes you out at Castillo De La Duquesa which is a gorgeous little place right on the sea which still manages to retain some traditional character and has some great bars and restaurants. A short 5 minute walk along the promenade past two beach bars and you are in Puerto De La Duquesa which has tons of marina charm and some good places on the upper level to eat / drink. If you are going shopping try out the refurbished big Carrefour in Estepona (drive along the beach and you can't miss it) - there is a great café outside which the staff use for their tostadas con mermelada and café con leches. The market in Estepona port (on a Sunday morning 10am till 1pm) is a great spot to do some bargaining and have a café con leche. All in all it is a fantastic location to holiday in a real nice house!

Great Place to have a Family Holiday or Chill Out

This Villa is wonderfully situated within easy walking distance of nice beaches and lovely restaurants. The Villa itself is well situated and the extensive Garden and good sized heated pool get sunshine from early morning until late in the evening which is fab. The outside seating/dining area is a really great space where you can chill out in the evening or take cover from the hot sun during the day, which is great. The Villa is large and has plenty of space with the upstairs bedrooms offering great accommodation. The Villa is located close to the Office which is reassuring in case there are any difficulties which can be quickly addressed (we did encounter some issues caused in the main by the Villa having been 'closed' for the winter and we were first to occupy it but these were quickly resolved by the Management Team (with the owner also making contact to ensure things were being done... which was nice). SO for any family looking to spend a quiet relaxing holiday with room to chill and play in the sun this Villa

Great villa; poor maintainence

The villa was great and was as described. However, the maintainence of the villa left much to be desired and we had to compensate for this during the first few days, for example defrosting the freezer, getting the cloudy pool cleaned, informing the managing agent of inadequate towels and sheets, etc. The positioning of the villa is on the other side of a dual carriageway from the marina and beach but once we had factored this in we found the beach was an ideal way to spend the day. The marina restaurants and bars were a bit too "British" for us but we did manage to enjoy ourselves. Overall an OK holiday but we won't be going back.

Fantastic Villa, exceeded our expectations

We have had a fantastic time in a wonderful villa which was all we could have asked for and more. The size of the pool was a huge bonus as there were 9 people in our party. We only had one very minor issue all week which was the Wi-fi connection but this was impressively rectified within 45 minutes of us raising the problem. We walked the 20 minutes to and from the marina most evenings and only returned to the villa in a very reasonably priced taxi on one occasion. We would definitely return to this villa and recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

Comfortable villa close to excellent facilities

This property was as described/photographed on the website. A spacious villa with excellent swimming pool that was ideal for our young family. There was plenty of wardrobe space for our clothes, the beds were comfortable and the plumbing excellent. The booking process with the proprietor was efficient and hassle free. The property had been cleaned thoroughly and was generally well maintained. There was plenty of crockery/cutlery to be used and the dishwasher meant there was no need for anybody to be washing up. In addition, the pool was serviced and the garden swept twice during our stay. There were plenty of pool inflatables for the children (and adults) to play with. There were a couple of opportunities for improvement which is why I have rated this four not five star. The main freezer was full of ice/needed defrosting and the door wouldn't close so was unusable for the whole week. And there was a mismatch in temperature between the air conditioning in the two main bedrooms which meant that one was too warm whilst the other was freezing. The information on the home away app stated that check in wasn't possible until 3 pm, and when we called at 2pm to say we were on our way, alarmingly their office had already closed. Our reception. On arrival was not very friendly, indeed we were directed to a safe and given a pin code rather than be welcomed by a person. However other issues were handled adequately during our stay so don't let that put you off. We had a lovely relaxing week, combining eating in with eating out, and sharing this lovely villa under the same roof as our children/grand children which otherwise wouldn't be possible.

Would love to come back again

The house for us was just what we wanted. At 1st we thought that it might be a little far from the port but it turned out to be just a nice down hill 20 minute walk. The house was clean and well equipped. The swimming pool is a very nice size and we loved sitting in the garden around the pool. Will certainly book again but for a longer time.

About the host

Host profile image
We have a young family and disliked the rules and constraints of hotels and communal pools, so we decided to purchase this villa and made it child friendly, yet stylish too. Duquesa is a safe place with everything you could wish for in a small area. We would happily let teenagers have a bit more independence here than in the larger towns.

Why they chose this property

Casa Flora is spacious, modern and clean. All the beds are high quality and new. We have tried to think of everything for the kitchen. There are 3 fridges to ensure you have plenty of cool storage. The villa is set on a good sized plot with room for children to play in the garden or under shade. The pool is large for a private villa and is heated if required.

What makes this property unique

Walking distance to marina.
Detached villa with gardens
Large pool
Heated pool
Sea and golf view from the top terrace
Spacious villa
4th bedroom can also be used as a playroom as there is a TV and Wii
