Super Cute, Cozy, Historic Sea Spray Cottage #5

Sea Spray Cottages were built in 1950. There are 5 cottage in total, each cottage is similar to the others, but unique in its own way.

My wife and I have been operating the SEA SPRAY COTTAGES OBX for vacations rentals since 2009. We run a mom and pop operation, an experience from a day gone-bye but thoroughly enjoyed by our guests.

Sea Spray Cottage #5 is perfect for those looking for a quaint space to enjoy time at the beach. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other bedroom has 2 twins. It has a comfortable living room with wide-screen TV, living room/dining area and wide galley kitchen. You will not believe how comfortable and charming it is until you spend some time there. If you are looking for a private getaway or to vacation with just your immediate family or just you and just your significant other, this is the place for you.

Dogs are welcome, we try to keep it to 2 (it's primarily a cottage for folks- not a kennel). $125 for the first two and $100 each after that but you must let us know if beyond 2, PLEASE.

The location can't be beat, the beach is just across the street and at about mile post 11.7 (just south of Nags Head Pier and north of Snow Bird's Soft Serve Ice Cream) where all that Nags Head has to offer is close by.

The cottage has an awesome front porch with panoramic views. The porch is great for lounging and enjoying your favorite beverage as you watch the world go by as folks stroll, run and bike along the multi-use path that is across the street. The cottage also has an awesome back porch with a bistro table for morning coffee or an intimate dinner.

Bed linens and towels NOT provided, but our assistant manager, Billy has a side gig where he can suite you up for a fee. Just ask for his number. Check in is at 4 and check out is at 10:00.

If your desired dates of travel are not available in this cottage, we have 4 others. There are 5 cottages in total at Sea Spray Cottages OBX, all similar in vintage, but unique from one another. If you are a regular on the Outer Banks, they are the gray cottages with the pink doors on the beach road in Nags Head.

Located in Nags Head, this cottage is near theme parks and near the beach. Wright Brothers National Memorial and Glazin' Go-Nuts are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and Island Farm. Clean and convenient

This vintage cottage is very cute and clean. It's one row off the beach and central in Nag's Head. The small fenced area was a bonus for the dog. With a few small upgrades, it would be a 5 star for me all the way around. The only reasons it's not a 5-star rating for me are: 1. Having to pay $40 for sheets and towels for a 2 night stay. 2. The mattress in the master is lumpy and needs to be replaced. 3. No curtains in the bedrooms meant no sleeping in for anyone (there are blinds, but they aren't any good at blocking the light). 4. No anti-slip mat in the shower. 5. No extra pillows or blankets (we arrived during a spring storm and it was much chillier than expected, plus only one pillow per person seems a bit limited for such a generally upscale area/property).

Always great at Sea Spray Cottages!!!!

This our 4th time and the place was even more pristinely clean than last time. The rockers on the back deck had just been painted, and everything looked fresh. Sorry, I left my food in an insulated bag in the fridge when we left (My wife told me to check one last time... should have listened . . . oops). I hope somebody enjoys the Jim Beam!!! Again, these cottages are great, old school Nags Head with fresh design style!!!!

Nice little place close to the beach

Nice little cottage, like a throwback in time! Loved the yard for the dogs. The couch was not comfortable, but okay for a short stay! Loved the short walk to the beach!

Great Stay

My family and I had a great time staying at the cottage. The location can’t be beat - the beach is located right across the street and restaurants are on either side, some within walking distance. The cottage was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed and we loved having the option of relaxing on either the front or back porch. We’ll be back for sure!

A week-long beach escape

The property met, or exceeded, our expectations in every way. The cottage was quiet, relaxing and plenty spacious for the two of us, plus our golden retriever. I might also add, it was clean and the kitchen/bathroom had received some recent renovations that were not shown in the pictures. The location was great as well - it’s within a few minutes walk to the beach. With a little more perseverance, one could walk to several other restaurants in the area. However, at no fault of this property, staffing at the restaurants are low, resulting in sporadic closures and long wait times at the open restaurants - plan accordingly. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this property to any of my friends or family looking to avoid the hotel-esque vacation setting.

Loved it!

The house was super clean, you can tell they are taking Covid seriously. It was exactly as described and it was nice they had a starter paper towels, trash bags etc. We didn’t have to go to the store right away. Beach is a short walk across and down the beach road, maybe 150-200 yards. It’s not fancy but is super cute and relaxing. Communications with the owner were very easy.

Perfect, quaint getaway spot in the heart of Nagshead

It is a perfect little getaway cottage that was super clean, renovated and allowed pets. Location is great, beach just across the street, Tortuga's Lie (favorite restaurant) in only half a mile up the road. Two turns away from the dunes, main drag. Check in was piece of cake, very responsive renter. I really couldn't ask for more.

Great house but could be cleaner

The location and house size was great for our family. We also enjoyed the classic beach cottage style. The house could have been cleaned more thoroughly. There was a lot of dog hair in the house and on couches as well as dog poop in the backyard. Master bed was very loud and squeaky. Kitchen utensils could be improved.

Cute cottage, great location, amazing weekend!

We loved spending a long weekend at this adorable dog-friendly cottage! Firstly, the location is great - an easy walk to two public beaches, the Nags Head Fishing Pier and Tortuga’s Lie. Jockey’s Ridge, Kitty Hawk Kites, and FatBoyz Ice Cream are just a short a short drive away. The cottage itself is clean, well kept and incredibly cozy. It is certainly a vintage, classic beach house, but has been wonderfully updated. My husband and I were thrilled that our labradoodle could join us. With a gate for the front porch steps, our pooch was happy as could be watching the activity on the beach road. The fenced back yard was great for puppy potty breaks and for hosing off a sandy dog. If you are looking for a comfortable, classic cottage, you should consider this house!

My wife, Laura Lee Garrett, has been vacationing on the Outer Banks her entire life. She introduced me, John Vollino, to the area when we were dating and have been vacationing there ever since. In 1991 we purchased our first cottage. In 2007 we purchased the Sea Spray Cottage Court and in 2009 we started renting Sea Spray to vacationers. At the end of 2015 we were fortunate to be in a position to purchase Cottage #5. We renovated the cottage over the next 4 months and are now able to offer it to vacationers as another rental options. Like the other Sea Spray Cottages, this cottage was also built in 1950.

Why they chose this property

It was located immediately to the south of Sea Spray Cottage Court, it is build in the same style and it makes perfect sense to add it to our cottection of vintage cottages to offer to guests.

What makes this property unique

Unlike most of the newer cottages being build on the beach, this cottage, and all of the other Sea Spray Cottages, offer an intimate space that if full of character and also offers modern conveniences.
