About this property

Pet Friendly with Solar Power In An Historic Area, Close To Downtown, Sleeps 6

Kids are free, so when asking for a written estimate, do not enter the number of kids, or the web site will happily interpret them as extra adults at $50/night. Please note that short-term rentals in San Antonio are obliged to charge you a 16.75% tax as of January, 2019. This applies if you are renting for less than 30 days and if you are NOT on government travel. The estimate you will get when you plug in your travel dates will include this tax, but I can remove it manually if you qualify.

Although intended as a short-term rental for travelers with dogs, I am hoping for longer-term (30 days plus) rentals, and I'm giving a significant discount to encourage them. If you are looking for long-term, please inquire and tell me how long you are interested in staying and I will give you a quote (without the tax).

This is one of four places I have for rent that were all built between 1909 and 1930. They're all pet friendly homes. All four are in the same area, and are very close to downtown.

This one and another one (vrbo 919969) sleep 6, one sleeps 4 (vrbo 814164) and two sleep 2 (vrbo 1290930 and vrbo 14822728). If the calendar is full at one, you may find an opening at the others.

Each house has every amenity - I have been quizzing guests over the year about how to outfit the kitchen and bath so that you will have everything you need (washer/dryer, new A/C, comfortable mattresses, barbecue, dog doors, fenced yard, proximity to nice walks, restaurants and shopping) plus more: a bottle of wine, a few beers, bottled water, emergency pizzas, dog biscuits, a growing dog library. For your protection, all the mattresses are fitted with anti-bedbug, anti-allergin mattress covers.

This home was built in 1920 and was fully restored in 2016. It has high-tech amenities (solar power, internet, WiFi, Pandora and Netflix), new appliances, and open airy feel. The morning and evening light in the house is one of our favorite things about this house. It is about 10 minutes from downtown, and is on a bus route that takes you right into the city. Interstate 10, the major San Antonio artery, is 2 miles away, The airport is 4 miles away. The house is solar powered, and fully insulated with new A/C and heat. All three places are pet-friendly (no fees), and have fully fenced and gated back yards. There is a doggie door in the sitting room, allowing dogs to come in and out of the fenced area. You will be one block from five well-known restaurants, including two that specialize in ribs, one that serves the best hamburgers in San Antonio, a popular Mexican cafe, and a pet-friendly coffee house which has gourmet dishes as well as good coffee. A food truck parks most nights down the block and serves up excellent Mexican take-out. The neighborhood is known for the dozen or so antique shops within walking distance. Jason lives a block away, and can be at your door to help with any issues within minutes.

Rates don't change on holidays and rates are not based on the number of guests. I can work with your military or corporate allowance, and have done so many times over the last six years. This web site has a discount built into the estimate it provides when you input your dates. $135-155/daily becomes $80/daily for a month or more stay.

I know some of your schedules are nailed down, and some are more fluid. I've learned how to work with that. As with the short-term rentals, I will still do your maintenance, pay your utilities, and do the yard work. All furnishings, linen, kitchen gear, towels, cleaning supplies, vacuum, ironing board, washer/dryer, etc. are provided.

We stayed for almost month. Older home in established neighborhood. Owner came by to check in on Us and offer suggestions for activities. The squirrel living on the property provided hours of entertainment for our 2 dogs

Wonderful property.
We had a great time at Jason's house. We rented on very short notice roughly 12 hours. The house was ready to go when we arrived. Half hour after we got in a storm blew through and knocked out our power. Jason checked on us several times and made sure we knew where the emergency flashlight was. Electricity was out for a day but we made do. Jason stopped by next day to check out damage. There were a few trees that took a hit and he had them cleaned out pretty quick so our dogs could enjoy the backyard. We will be back. Thank you for a great time Jason. House is an older model but newly redone. It's a nice home with comfortable beds. Pet friendly was a God send for us. We have 2 older smaller dogs. Jason had several sets of beds and bowls for the dogs.

Pet Friendly, nice older home, Historic Area.
I would definitely stay at this home again! It's an older home in an Historic Area. It is a pet friendly home! It was great for us because we had three small dogs with us. The owner does not charge for the pets. Our pets had a great stay and we really enjoyed our stay! The owner was very friendly and was available if we needed anything. When we arrived at the house he had wine, beer, water bottles, coffee available. We had a wonderful stay! Melinda

Nice weekend getaway!
My family had a great stay in San Antonio! This home was perfect for my family of 6. My 3 children loved the home, they really enjoyed how they could run from the front of the home all they way to the back. That was endless entertainment for them! We had everything we needed! We had our Goldendoodle with us and the home had enough room for him to spread out and play. The back yard fenced in was perfect for him. There were even dog bowls, toys & treats for him. We were so close to downtown! It is a perfect location right down the road from the city. If your looking for a nice older home with character than this is a great spot for you. At the end of the street there are some shops and restaurants which was really nice too. Jason was super friendly and easy to work with! We will definitely visit again in one of his homes.

Well kept older home that's super pet friendly
We didn't end up bringing the dog, but loved that there were treats and a doggy door big enough for her to fit through. Also greatly enjoyed that there are good restaurants within walking distance. Jason is a responsive and helpful owner.

Perfect place for a relaxing weekend!
We really enjoyed our weekend at Jason’s pet friendly home. We were in town for a wedding and to see the sites but wanted to bring our dog. This house was perfect. It’s spacious and well furnished. It had everything we needed or wanted. Very comfortable furnishings and nice sheets. Our dog Ginger loved the big dog bed more than her own. The dog door is awesome though it’s a double flap wall version and we could not get her to push through it on her own. She’s timid though, and most dogs would probably be ok with it. We only once left her there without us once so it was just fine. The fenced back yard is secure and large. The location is awesome, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Close to everything. We walked all over at all hours and enjoyed seeing the quaint homes and people out on their porches. There’s a nice little park in the same block and it spans 3-4 blocks. We can highly recommend staying here and are grateful to Jason for providing this great place from which to enjoy San Antonio and surrounding areas.

It's exactly what is described - it was 0wrfevt for the occasion.
We utilized the property for Air Force graduation. It was convenient to Downtown, Lackland, and the airport. It was a great time with space to just hang out and visit. The park was an awesome escape for my boys to play basketball. Don't judge a book by its cover though the house is 90 some odd years old, it had the modern convinces. The owner checked in with us each day to make sure we were okay. This was our first experience with this type of rental and we are already talking about our next adventure. It's not the Ritz but for a place to lay your head each night and spend some time with your airman I would recommend this location. Only recommendation add an Island countertop to kitchen for more countertop space.

Cute, comfy, pet friendly home!
We had a wonderful stay at Jason's property. It was clean and comfy, and the location worked out well for our quick trip to see some San Antonio sights. Jason is a conscientious home owner and was attentive, but not obtrusive. This was a great place for our family (four legged members included), and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Unique and spacious home!
We chose Jason’s property because we needed a home for 10 days while looking for our permanent residence in San Antonio. We also needed a place that allowed dogs and this place was dog heaven with a fenced in back yard, treats, toys, and dog beds there for you. The property allowed us to feel ‘at home’ even though that wasn’t the case. Jason’s communication is excellent and he provided prompt assistance for a few things like new batteries in a smoke alarm and help with the laundry machines. The property is in walking distance of some fabulous restaurants and nestled in a neighborhood that has a series of parks strung through it. The TV had a roku box, there was WiFi, and the pantry and fridge had a few staples to share. We’d be happy to do business with Jason again!

Exceptional Owner! Very Livable and Dog-Friendly Home
This home was perfect for our stay in San Antonio! We love to travel with our dog and it was so nice to stay in a house that actually welcomes dogs. From the moment you walk in the front door and see a jar full of dog biscuits and a bowl of doggy bags and toys, to the hardwood floors, the doggy bed awaiting, the doggy door to the back yard and the fenced-in back yard, you can see that Jason really wants his dog-loving renters to relax and enjoy their stay at his house. Jason was fantastic - not only does he live close by, but he checks on you to make sure you have everything you need. The close location to downtown was appreciated, too. Thanks, Jason, for making our stay so easy!

Centrally located and super dog-friendly!
Jason was hospitable and quick to reply. House was perfect for our group, two couples with dogs in tow. Lots of open space in the house and the fenced-in backyard. Super close to great antique shops on Blanco and Hildebrand, restaurants on Blanco, and bars on N. St. Mary's. Not far from downtown and the Pearl. Cool historic home with some modern, practical updates. Just right!

A place to relax with the whole family.
Approaching this house, I was a little concerned by the appearance of the neighborhood - some properties very well cared for, some - not so much. However, we soon realized that this is a nice middle-class area where children play outside, neighbors talk to each other and parks are never far away. The house was perfect for our needs - clean, very spacious, and dog-proof. With 3 canine children, finding a place that not only accepts dogs, but actually welcomes them, is a treasure. The home is 91 years old - with adequate upgrades to meet modern expectations. Beds were comfortable, kitchen appliances were very nice and proximity to downtown was incredible for the price. The linear park at the end of the block was a great place to walk with the pups. The only shortcomings were - no local TV access (get satellite...please) and a shortage of wash cloths and hand towels. Very little counter space - but I don't see any fix for that! I still give this place 5 stars and would stay here again without hesitation.

Fun, well-stocked house with great host
The house suited our needs well for a weekend trip to San Antonio. Plenty of space for 2 young kids and 3 adults. We didn't need to cook anything, but the kitchen seemed well stocked with plenty of beverages and kitchen-ware. There were a few unexpected oddities, but nothing major - one bathroom only had a shower, the other bathroom only had a bathtub (no shower head), and the bedroom with the fold-out couch didn't have a door. Jason was great - even though he was out-of-town, he kept checking up on us to see if we needed anything, and was very accommodating to us. All-in-all, a nice house at a good price!

About the host

Hosted by Jason Greenlee

Host profile image
I split my time between Costa Rica and San Antonio because they bring together the yin and the yang of my life. I love San Antonio Mexican restaurants, Starbucks, and USA Today, on the one hand, and I love hanging out in the lineup off the big palm tree in Nosara on the other hand. My dogs feel that I need to find a girlfriend (maybe someone that can cook their favorite meals?), but I keep telling them that finding someone that will put up with us is going to be a challenge!

Why they chose this property

You will love the community that is in this neighborhood. The friendly people, the restaurants withing walking distance, the historic buildings. It's very near downtown San Antonio, but it seems like its own small town - in fact, it probably once was its own town.

What makes this property unique

Bringing your four footed friends with you, antique shops, restaurants, close to bus routes or a short drive to zoo, Riverwalk, etc.
