Warm welcome and great accomodation
We have returned to Whitestones again, and and it has been great. Ann and Jim gave us a lovely welcome, and had even remembered my birthday from last year! The accommodation is well equipped and feels like home. It is so peaceful sitting on the balcony for breakfast (or any other meal) and cosy in the lounge of an evening. The weather helped of course, but even when there was a bit of a wind the conservatory is great. So many options. We were sad to leave. The location is ideal for us, very quiet but within easy reach of places we wanted to get to. We visited the Bristone Village Store again and found lovely local produce plus the staples we needed. One of our favourite things is that we can find a number of places along the southern cliffs to have a picnic supper and watch the sunset, all only a few minutes drive away. Although it is also possible to watch the sunset from the upstairs bedroom - lovely!
We plan to return again.

Delightful stay in a lovely cottage
We had another lovely stay at Whitestones, in this peaceful and well equipped cottage. Ann and Jeff are very welcoming and helpful. It was lovely to eat outside on the balcony overlooking the secluded garden and listen to the birds. We discovered an excellent mobile Fish & Chip van (The Jolly Fryer) that visits locally. We ate ours sitting in one of the car parks on the cliffs (off the Military Road) watching the sunset.
The cottage is set in lovely peaceful countryside but also within easy access (by car) of the many island attractions.

Whitestones 2021
If you are looking for a quiet base in west Wight this could be a great option. The bungalow is located down a vey quiet country lane and is spacious inside, easily catering for our family of five. It's actually larger than the photos suggest. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Anne who is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. I can recommend star gazing on the patio when the skies are clear and walking over the downs from Whitestones. Freshwater and Yarmouth are just a short drive with a range of great pubs and restaurants. I can recommend the Red Lion , Freshwater for Sunday roasts, The Hut , Colwell for all things sea food, The Bay in Totland for small plates, The Blacksmiths, Calbourne at sunset for great gastro like food and La Cucina , Yarmouth for great Mediterranean inspired dishes. Brook and Compton beaches are very short drive and great for kayaking, paddle boarding, body boarding and surfing depending on the wind and tide.

Home from home
The owners made us feel very welcome.
We were impressed that there was a smart TV (often rentals have an old, small TV).
Lovely garden and secluded location. Perfect for us as visiting family in neighbouring village.
Will definitely be returning.

Not sure what it means.
Excellent location to visit places of interest on the island. Nice, comfortable cottage with all facilities and all needs provided for. We were promptly and happily helped by the owner of the property who lives next door and is always available. The only change required is that of beds and mattresses which are old and not so comfortable. We would happily recommend it for a week's stay and holidays on the Isle of Wight.
