This small apartment ('La Stalla'),is part of a 13th century country cottage. It's set on a secluded and lovely hill surrounded by olive groves, oak forests and arable land. This is a protected area where no modern buildings are allowed. At present there are only organic cultivations since 1985 and wildlife has thus developed to such an extent that now there are all sorts of wild animals such as porcupines, badgers, wild boar, fallow dear, roe dear, buzzards, owls, woodpeckers, white herons, beautiful hoopoes and lots of other rare animals...
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO COME HERE WITH INDEPENDENT MEANS OF TRANSPORT..!
The apartment 'La Stalla' (The Stable) is on ground level and has a private entrance + small terraced garden and is suited for 2 people.
The entrance is directly in the bed/livingroom. Ensuite a small bathroom (shower, wc, basin), then a lovely 12th century archway leads to the stone floor (ex-stable, with existing manger) kitchen with stoves, microwave oven, washing machine.
The 'La Stalla' apt is next door to the slightly larger apts :'L'Acetaia' code : HAUK 8043566 and 'La Vista': code HAUK 8551054 (up to 4 p. each). We therefore strongly advise that if you care to stay longer than 5 nights, to book in on one of the two apartments, for in one case, there is a private terraced-garden (L'Acetaia'), in the other case ('La Vista' apt) it is on the first floor, but it is a larger flat (60 sqmts) with (a very private.!) roof terrace with beautiful views..!
The property is connected with the local tarmac road with a 1/2 mile private dirt track road. (N.B.: this road is in only in part a private road of ours, so, at times, not always in a perfect state of upkeep, therefore not suitable for low slung sports cars..!)
It takes 10 minutes to get to all the most important double-carriage roads (toll and non-toll) leading to most of the places of interest in Tuscany (Prato, Pistoia, Pisa, Lucca, 5Terre, Livorno, Siena, S.Gimignano, the Chianti Classico area, Arezzo, etc.). These can not be seen or heard. There are no high-voltage electric cables polluting this area.
This is an ideal hamlet away from it all, but also only 8 miles from the town centre of Florence !
There is a very efficient tramway in Scandicci. The terminal (Villa Costanza) is where you hop on the tram (€1,70 - frequency every 3/4 mins) and it takes 25 mins to get to the centre. You will leave your car in a free parking and 'hop-off' in Florence at other terminal (Piazza della Stazione / S.Maria Novella).
There is a very close supermarket at the bottom of the road (5mins by car) EUROSPIN (Via delle Fonti), at T junction turn left 30 mts., to the left. (there are all sorts of other supermarkets: COOP, ESSELUNGA, PENNY, LIDL within 10/20 mins).
