About this property

Firth Cottage - stunning views in a peaceful but convenient location

Firth Cottage is a pretty semi-detached cottage situated in tranquil wooded grounds in the hamlet of Alcaig on the Black Isle. The owners also live within the two acre grounds.

Firth Cottage features stunning views of the Cromarty Firth with the mountains of Easter Ross beyond from the large open-plan living area. It's a view which constantly changes with the tide and light. The tidal firth is a haven for wildlife and ospreys can be seen most days in the summer months from the cottage fishing over the firth, and in the winter thousands of geese can be seen in the fields and overhead.

The cottage is spotlessly clean, modern, well-equipped and peaceful.

There are two bedrooms that can sleep a maximum of four people. It has a very spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washer-dryer machine, gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge with a small freezer compartment. Of the two bedrooms, one contains a king size bed while the other has twin beds. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

The lounge has a TV with Freeview, a DVD Player with a selection of DVDs, a CD/Radio, books, games and an abundance of leaflets and useful information. There is under-floor heating throughout with individually controllable thermostats in each room, and a heated towel radiator in the shower room.

From the lounge, french doors open out onto the private patio area with a table and chairs. There are shared wooded gardens which host an abundance of bird life. The cottage is located at the end of a private drive and has parking for two cars.

Despite the peace and quiet, the cottage is conveniently located for the town of Dingwall (3 miles away) and the Highland's capital Inverness (12 miles). It is also the perfect base for touring the Highlands being at the hub of the road network. Some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK - Glen Affric, Loch Ness, Torridon, Assynt - is less than an hour away. The Black Isle itself has historical villages like Cromarty, great beaches such as Rosemarkie, and Chanonry Point which is the best land location to see dolphins in the UK.

Two well-behaved pets may be allowed at no extra cost but only by arrangement.

In short, Firth Cottage offers you the opportunity to stay in a clean, comfortable, quiet location with exceptional views and be perfectly located for the best the Highlands has to offer.

Relaxing
This cottage was huge and offered us a lot of room to spread out. We enjoyed just sitting and reading while it rained and went on several hikes as the weather allowed. The host provided brochures for everywhere in scotland and hiking maps. Great place to stay!

Beautiful fully equipped cottage in peaceful location
A lovely weeks stay in a peaceful location with beautiful views . The host was very welcoming and the cottage is fully equipped with everything you could ever need . As well as cooker, washing machine , dishwasher , microwave etc. there was a great selection of books , DVD’s , a radio , tv , lots of family games and a great selection of guide books/leaflets etc .. Everywhere was spotlessly clean - it really was a home-from-home .

Vacation/Anniversary
This lovely cottage was amazing! From the location to our lovely host! After flights getting delayed and arriving late at the cottage Mrs Frances was there to greet us and explain some things to us about the layout of the cottage to the using of the rubbish bins! The cottage was extremely clean, had a fully equipped kitchen plenty of bath towels and was very homey! The quietness and view from the in the living room was so wonderful! We enjoyed getting up every morning to enjoy a coffee and the view! It was a prefect little Paradise for us! Again the location was great it was in the country and had field and livestock all around the area. There’s a store near by if in need of groceries! We will definitely come back and stay here for our next trip!

'Does what it says on the tin', clean, spaceous, great view over the Moray Firth
5 nights, well positioned for Scotland's East Coast. There's a Tesco at Dingwall, c.5 miles away, and for more urgent needs there's a Co-Op in the nearby village. We used the house as a base for exploring. I will add one caveat, namely that we thought the cottage was detached and secluded, as the photos suggested, whereas the cottage is a semi, the other renters were no bother, and the Owners live on site, some 20m away, and couldn't be nicer. Neither proved an issue, but we wanted 'detached and secluded'.

Excellent Property
We used the property as a base for exploring northern Scotland. The property was very clean, had all facilities that we needed and was very peaceful and private with great views over the firth. It was perfect for travelling around as it was easy to get to and from main routes, without having to navigate tiny lanes. Frances (the host) was great, even leaving some cake for us and some treats for our dog. My only comment would be that the listing did not mention that dogs would not be allowed on furniture, we only knew once at the property. Not really a problem, but might impact some owners. Overall, really, really good.
