Maison Fontaines is a 17th century village house in the heart of the medieval mountain village of Bargemon. A picturesque mountain village at 45 km from the Mediterranean Sea. The sweet scent of Provencal country life and the delightful village sounds form the balance between liveliness and tranquility. Living among the French is to taste the real French life. In a village with a walled old town and a village square with plane trees where you can see and experience everything throughout the day. Discover the charm of Bargemon and the warmth of Maison Fontaines.
Rooms
The two guest rooms of Maison Fontaines are located in the house where the owners themselves also live. The one guest room is on the second floor with a private bathroom with shower / bath, bidet and toilet. The other room is on the third floor. Guests of this room also use the bathroom on the second floor. Because we want to offer our guests every privacy, it is only possible to reserve a second room if you are acquaintances. Both rooms have a comfortable double bed and a cozy seating area.
Breakfast
If you use the breakfast then you are very welcome in our attractive kitchen.
You also have the option to have breakfast outside or inside at the local bakery. An experience in itself!
Table d'Hôtes
On request we provide a three-course menu including wine arrangement in the kitchen. In good weather we serve the aperitif including snacks on the roof terrace with an impressive view over the old rooftops of Bargemon. From here you look more than 40 far away with the mountain village of Claviers in the foreground that is a feast for the eyes in the late evening sun.
BARGEMON
At 500 meters, in the department of Var, to the north-east of Draguignan, lies the mountain village of Bargemon. A picturesque medieval village that has been a source of inspiration for celebrities over the centuries. Scientists, alchemists, poets and painters found the peace and beauty of the lush Provencal hilly landscape. Surrounded by olive groves, Bargemon, with its narrow streets, charming squares, sparkling fountains and impressive plane trees, makes an unforgettable impression.
With over 1 500 inhabitants, Bargemon may be small, but it has all the comfort of a larger place. For daily shopping there is the supermarket with a Presse, the greengrocer, two bakers, a butcher and the Tabac. Eatery, restaurants and pizzerias ensure that you can enjoy culinary delights both at noon and in the evening. Moreover, in the season the galleries and boutiques are open, while the community provides a varied program of activities throughout the year. The doors of the multimedia center and the museums are open all seasons and the local Syndicat d’Initiative (VVV) has many great tips for trips in the area.
Bargemon also has a general practice and a pharmacy. So everything is at hand. The pure spring water from the "Source Couchoire" is certainly worth mentioning. To visit the larger supermarkets, a drive to Fayence, Draguignan or Le Muy is necessary. And as for the markets; every day there is somewhere nearby!
SURROUNDINGS
Not far from the Lac St. Croix, the Lac St. Cassien and the Gorges du Verdon, Bargemon is an excellent base for cyclists, hikers and water sports enthusiasts. Golfers will also enjoy themselves at the nearby Gulf of St. Andréol or the somewhat further away Gulf of Roquebrune. Paragliding, tennis and horse riding are also possible, while the local "piscine municipal" offers a refreshing dip from May to October.
Bargemon is approximately a two-hour drive from Marseille and 75 minutes from Nice. In 45 to 75 minutes there is the cosiness of the seaside towns of Fréjus, St. Maxime, Juan les Pins and St. Tropez. But cities like Aix-en-Provence and Arles can also be done in one day.
