Loved, loved this home. For our family and needs, perfect location. 3 minute drive to trailer our ATV’s to the trailhead for Imogene Pass. Also explored Engineer Pass. What a blast!
House was clean and house notebook was thorough . A welcome note from the owners w their cells was on the table with a container of treats. We all enjoyed our stay and the house . The toilet closest to the back door could be checked for a weak flush. - overall excellent
Nice house in Ouray. Super convenient. Clean and a place to hang out after long days on the trails. My only criticism is the limited satellite TV range of channels but really that's a pretty First World kind of complaint. I would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I visit Ouray every couple of years and were tired of the hotel experience so we tried out this property for the 6 days we stayed. The property is conveniently located close to downtown Ouray without being "in the middle of everything". There is a restaurant across the extra-wide street but we were never disturbed by noise. It was great having a full kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and oven, and outdoor grilling availability to cook a few meals. The home is historic but has been updated and is beautiful and comfortable. I'd asked if the larger bed was located downstairs since we are older and didn't want to battle the stairs every day. We were assured the accommodations would work for us. Unfortunately, the 1 downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed (not quite roomy enough for us) and both the full bath and 1/2 bath were on the first floor. The king bed was on the second floor so not convenient, but it was used for napping after a long day on the trail. I would suggest adding mattress toppers to the two larger beds as they were uncomfortable and neither of us got a full nights sleep on them. I want to add that the owner was quick to respond to questions and was very helpful. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing, amenity-filled location in Ouray. A big thank you to the owner for the welcome gift of delicious candies!
This house was a great place for our family to relax after a day of Jeeping around Ouray. It was conveniently located walking distance to shops and restaurants.
We drove here from Northern AZ and all of us were in awe the entire way. Such breathtaking scenery the entire trip. The home is even cuter than in the photos with thoughtful touches throughout. We were welcomed by some delicious English Toffee (made in CO) as well as a personalized card and list of local recommendations for everything we could think of in the area..we had an amazing time and are so grateful to Perry and Terry for our stay! Thank you!!
Perry is a great human being that supported my family the entire trip. If we ever go back to the area we will call Perry. I have never had such support from the owner.
Highly recommend!
The house is perfect, full of character, and having everything we need. The hosts always give that little something extra to add a bonus to an already amazing location. You won't be disappointed!!
My family and I stayed here for a week and enjoyed our stay! This property is in a great location, walking distance to just about everything! Would stay again!
Everything at the house is always more than we need for any situation. It is comfortable and clean, and our host always provides us with unnecessary but appreciated extras that enhance our experience. We will definitely continue to use this host's properties whenever we are in town.
This property was a perfect fit for our family of 6! Very clean, great location, all the amenities and extras! So much to do in Ouray we always wish for just one more day. Terry and Perry were fantastic hosts, we never actually met them but felt like we knew them as they were gracious and kind through our entire stay. Obviously, have grandkids and a nice family as this cottage fits all the needs of a family. We hope to return again soon for another 4th of July in Ouray.
clean property with plenty of parking and comfortable beds. no ac but there are plenty of fans and we didnt need it as it was cool at night. would stay again.
Wonderful home in Ouray. Beautifully updated and very comfortable!
Terry and Perry Hotz were fabulous hosts and very responsive to requests. They left us Hersey Bars, Marshmallow s and Graham crackers for S'mores. What a wonderful treat. Would recommend this to anyone interested in staying in Ouray!
Property spacious for our group of 4 seniors. The kitchen is large and the lot allows plenty of parking. The owner was immediately over when I texted about a toilet problem that he immediately fixed. The end of town is a quiet location, allowing easy walking to downtown activities. We were challenged by having no bathroom with the two upstairs bedrooms and having steep stairs to the main floor. We love the nearly empty house, for it allows room for backpacks, boots, books and bathroom supplies. We missed hair dryers, more hangers, and a kitchen with more cooking supplies like kitchen scissors. For once, we are in a VRBO with empty cupboards for our food. This space is much appreciated. There is a nice range of mattresses, from soft to very firm, so everyone was happy. Our time in Ouray was fun.
Our family really enjoyed staying in this downtown Ouray home over the 4th of July weekend. The hosts were friendly and communicative making check-in a breeze. The home was clean, with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of clean towels. The location was great, just off of Main St. making it a great option to leave the car behind and ride bikes around. Overall, a great option for renting a home in Ouray. We'll definitely check availability here for our next trip!

About the host
Hosted by Perry and Terry Hotz
Terry and Perry are Colorado natives (3rd generation on both sides). We have been vacationing in Ouray for decades. Perry is a real estate broker and owns his office in Cedaredge, Colorado. Terry has been a teacher and school administrator for over 35 years and recently retired. She loves yoga, hiking and biking, and tennis and pickle ball, and the grand kids. We love Ouray and all it offers and hope you will visit our home and love it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
The home was originally built in the 1900. It still offers the mining era charm but has been completely remodeled with a new kitchen, new 1/2 bath, updated full bath, updated electrical and all of the features you want and expect. It is only one block off Main Street, has adequate off street parking for Jeeps and ATVs, and is only a short walk to the Box Canyon Falls.
