Close to the Sainte Cécile cathedral and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum
Located in the heart of Albi's 13th century episcopal city, my parents' house has two main bedrooms, one of which looks onto the Tarn river. It easily sleeps 4, six with some accommodation. You can walk to the city's many attractions. Many food options within walking distance from 3-stars restaurants to a weekly farmers' market and the traditional covered market open every day. Many activities within easy driving distance, including the up-and-coming Gaillac wine region.

Gîte très pratique pour ne pas prendre la voiture et ainsi visiter le centre historique, un logement suffisamment grand et fonctionnel, un très bon accueil.

Great Neighborhood
We booked this apartment for the location which is great but the apartment itself was not as great. Let me start by saying we didn’t stay here. We arrived on a very hot day and the place was an oven. We tried for a few hours to get comfortable but ended up leaving and staying in a hotel. The furniture is quite old and uncomfortable. The shared public spaces (kitchen and sitting room) are on the second floor with the bedrooms on the third floor accessed by an open stairway. The owner was pleasant and helpful (getting out some fans for the heat). She didn’t respond to our texts about arrival but was there when we arrived. She had wine and told us to help ourselves to anything in her kitchen, which we were to share. This is not a free standing apartment but a shared space in her home with no real privacy. So for us it didn’t work but it is in a good location.
The location is perfect in this 3 story private home. Guests access floors 2 and 3. The owner/host Catherine was fantastically helpful and accommodating. She came with us to show us where the parking lot and neighborhood cafes were. She also left us snacks and a bottle of wine to welcome us. The bedding is a bit tired (get it?). There is no a/c (in this entire section of France) so we slept with windows wide open. This is a great place for four people looking for a very convenient place to stay in Albi.
Très bon accueil. On se sent comme chez soi.

Truly captivating
Catherine, the owner, takes great pride in her house and has kept furniture and accessories to fit in with the authenticity. We were able to check in and leave at our convenience and Catherine was very prompt at answering any questions. She greeted us with wine and tasty snacks and told us to help ourselves to any food or drinks in refrigerator and cupboards--and there was plenty (at least 6 different kinds of ice cream!). House is big with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. We were so intrigued by it that it was hard to leave to go out and explore the town. It really set the stage for a memorable day there. The house, town, river, old buildings and interaction with some teens enjoying their town made this one of my favorite days of our month-long trip.

Comfortable and well-appointed apartment located in the heart of the city
I very much enjoyed my stay in Albi. Majestic brick built environment dramatically situated on the facing banks of the Tarn. The city manages to feel both big and small at the same time, with massive, high brick bridges giving vistas of river, city, and sky. Well developed footpaths at river's edge offer shady alternative to city spaces above. Albi has many sites to interest travelers who enjoy history, architecture, and culture, as well as a healthy commercial district with shops and restaurants. At the same time, it doesn't feel like it's lost its essential character and become overly "touristy." The apartment is a very short walk from many of the most popular tourist sites, but its location on a small, winding alleyway makes it quiet and restful. Spacious bedrooms rooms and kitchen/dining access make it a comfortable refuge in which to relax while planning one's next adventure. Owner Catherine was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations and navigation, a gracious and knowledgeable conversation partner.

Ideally situated and friendly owner
This two bedroom apartment is located in the heart of old town Albi, just a couple of blocks from the Lautrec Museum ( which is fabulous), the Cathedral St. Cecile, and the wonderful covered market. Public parking is also close by. Catherine, our hostess was extremely gracious and helpful. Carrying our bags up three flights of stairs and welcoming us with a bottle of wine and some wonderful olives. When we lost our hot water one evening, she apologized and treated us to croissants and pain au raisin (to die for) the next morning. Catherine resides in California when she is not in Albi, so there were no language problems for us Americans.

Beautiful, comfortable and convenient
I really loved my stay here and will stay here again if I have the good fortune to return to Albi. Catherine's English is excellent, she was readily available when help or info was needed. Everything I needed was there and there was even an international adapter plug so I could charge my laptop. The farmers market was wonderful and so was the covered market nearby. It really is only steps from the cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum. Stay at least two days if you can, one is not enough for all Albi has to offer.

About the host
Hosted by Catherine Kelsey
I spend part of the year in Albi and the rest of the time I reside in the U.S. where I've lived most of my adult life. I was born and grew up in France then spent several years working in London.
Why they chose this property
This was my parents' house. I love sharing it with guests from around the world during the spring and summer months.
What makes this property unique
I am pretty knowledgeable about the city's history and its main attractions. I can point out the best eateries in town and activities for the whole family within driving distance. Being a native French speaker, I can assist guests when language is an issue. I will consider babysitting so parents can treat themselves to a romantic dinner or outing.
