About this property

Oak Creek Canyon Cottage: cozy and scenic, minutes from downtown Sedona

Adorable two-bedroom, solar-powered cottage in Oak Creek Canyon, just steps away from a PRIVATE stretch of Oak Creek and 15 minutes drive from the town of Sedona with high-speed STARLINK internet. Well-behaved pets (furry family members) are welcome. 30 day rental required. Oak Creek Canyon Cottage is a 1960s bungalow located in lower Oak Creek Canyon, one mile south of Slide Rock State Park on highway 89A and 5 miles north of downtown Sedona. Because it is located in a lightly forested section of Oak Creek Canyon at 5000 feet in elevation, the cottage is a lovely, mild spot in which to spend the winter, and a shady, cool spot to beat the heat in the summer. Oak Creek itself is just across the street, so you can take a folding chair down to sit on the banks and enjoy the water, fish and birds. The cottage is furnished with a queen bed, a full XL (long) bed, a cot you can use in the living area, and is decorated with eclectic art, featuring regional artists. Internet service is provided to the cottage by STARLINK and supports video streaming and remote work. There is a small, but fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a back deck where you can eat outside or hang out and watch the humming birds. Other amenities include laundry facilities and a new tub/shower, yard games, and a BBQ grill. The garden is filled with fragrant flowers in the spring and summer and offers a variety of fruit bearing trees in the late summer and fall. There is a hiking trail (Sterling Pass) just a quarter mile from the house, and many, many more hikes in the nearby area. This is a wonderful place to use as a base to explore all that Northern Arizona has to offer: it is 40 minutes to Flagstaff, 1 hour to Jerome, and 2 hours to the Grand Canyon, just to mention just a few of the fantastic destinations within easy driving distance. Note: Because of the house's location, there is some road noise during the day --- but it is very peaceful at night when the day visitors go home!

Extremely comfortable stay.

Very quiet cul de sac location 6 miles up 89A from Sedona in the Oak Creek Canyon. Towering mountains surround the property. Two good sized bedrooms, large deck, a bath and a half, friendly neighbors. Dog friendly with a fenced back yard. Highly recommend.

Perfect place for a small group

I wanted a place in Sedona but away from the hustle & bustle of Sedona proper. This definitely fit the bill. Except for 2 nights it was only me & my little dog. The cottage is small, but well maintained. Communications with the owner were great plus the neighbors were friendly & helpful. Trips to the grocery store, etc. took about 15 minutes but with such beautiful scenery the drive was a pleasure.

Cozy mountain cottage in Sedona

I spent a month here and experienced all sorts of weather including snow and cold temperatures. In spite of having to stay in place, we had everything we needed including TV, DVDs, games and fantastic views to look at. The cottage was equipped with all the necessities we needed. It’s a great place to stay while visiting this beautiful area of Arizona and is close to all the sights.

Tranquility

This was such a pleasant, calm, easy stay. The property is charming & nurturing. And the view - it is just impossible to be so close and see the gorgeous red rock cliff, hear the creek, and feel anything but grounded, peaceful. The cottage is fully equipped and so cozy. I completely enjoyed cooking, walking, visiting the neighbors & their dogs. I work remotely and Alice set up a small desk with monitor / keyboard / mouse for me. I put it next to the gas fireplace & stared out at the red rocks while I worked. The location is perfect - just outside the bustle of town, but so close it’s easy to do errands and reach all the trails. I fully recommend this place and lovely hosts for a calming getaway.

Escape to Oak Creek Canyon

Alice & Larry's house is located in a perfect little gated neighborhood with a great view up the side of the canyon. Most of the time we seemed to be practically the only ones around other than frequent visits from foraging deer. The neighbors we did bump into seemed quite friendly. There's access to the creek across the road, and a cafe with a great back patio a couple miles down the highway. There was some traffic noise from Highway 89A during certain times of the day, but the nights were relatively quiet. The house was just about right for two adults and two cats. Being from Phoenix, we all loved having the windows open for cool breezes mornings and evenings in August. And we were blessed with some rain on almost every day we were there. Alice & Larry were very accommodating and helpful. I suppose the biggest compliment we can give regarding our overall experience is to say that we're re-booking for next year!

A wonderful little cottage in Oak Creek Canyon with easy access to Sedona.

This cottage fit our needs perfectly. Our dog appreciated the fenced in yard and we loved the deck Waking up in the morning to red rock views, starlit skies at night, easy access to all things Sedona and friendly neighbors with helpful hints added to a wonderful month we will long remember as a special time in our lives.

Has EVERYTHING, for long term stay. Great size & location!

The cottage had everything we needed for our 6 week stay. It was the perfect size, and really loved the location in Oak Creek Canyon. It was close enough to Sedona to enjoy the activities there, yet far enough away to make you feel, you were away from it all. Very clean; new washer & dryer, comfy beds, nice yard and deck. Indian Gardens Cafe was a short distance away to get great lattes. Hosts were great, and very responsive to any questions or concerns. Would love to stay here again, if we return to Sedona area.

Glorious days in Oak Creek

The house sits just inside the road along #89A in a private quiet neighborhood with modest homes. The house is clean and and well maintained and has a sweet sunny window filled Az room that leads to the large deck. The fenced backyard is brimming with grass and fruit trees. The red cliffs behind the house are quite a sight in the morning, and after a rain. Alice and Larry were quick to respond when we had any issues. We felt safe and secure at all times during our stay. We enjoyed greeting the neighbors on our daily dog walks around the neighborhood loop.

Every day just got better

The house was perfect for my dog and me. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have everything you need, the kitchen is fully stocked with every appliance you could want and the location is just gorgeous. I wish the sofa in the den was more comfortable to watch a movie, but not a show stopper! I loved the drive into town and back. (both to Flagstaff and Sedona) The neighbors are lovely. I will be staying again. Thank you so much for sharing your cottage.

Beautiful, quiet cottage in Sedona

I had a lovely month here with my little dog. The cottage was tucked in a private, small community on Oak Creek. The red rock cliff face is yours to gaze at and marvel its beauty every day. Sedona is a few miles down the road, which is a gorgeous drive. If you bring a pet it is perfect, a very nice deck and fenced yard in the back. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. Thank you for sharing this lovely place.

Perfect location

I really fell in love with this cottage. Located in Oak Creek Canyon, it is only minutes away from Sedona, the best of both worlds. The cottage has a cozy, retro vibe and is equip with everything one needs. The back yard is large and fenced. The path down to the creek was too difficult for me, but I am told many people can hike it. I enjoyed hearing the creek from the comfort of the deck. I also enjoy early morning yoga and star gazing on the deck. Larry and Alice made my first experience with VRBO extremely easy and very pleasant. Larry was very responsive in providing necessary repairs, lawn maintainence, adjusting the sprinkler schedule, and even providing an additional fan. The neighbors were so warm and welcoming, I hated to leave.

Relaxing location - close to Sedona and great hiking

The cozy Cottage is a charming get away nestled in the rocks that was a wonderful “home” for us for the month. It was stocked with just about everything one might need - and we did most of our eating at home - so we appreciated the various kitchen items. It was so much fun to see the change from winter to spring - especially with the fruit trees starting to bloom - and to be able to quickly grab the binocs in the cottage to look at various birds passing through, especially the ones we don’t see at home! Got to read Zane Grey’s CALL OF THE CANYON tucked in the "library" too - Wasn’t at the top of my list, but hey, we’re here! There are SO many trails in the Sedona area and once we got used to the traffic nuances we got around Sedona just fine - had no problems parking at trailheads - and continued to marvel at the variety in all the trails. Once our hikes were done it was so nice to head back up the Canyon to the cottage - traffic noise was there but never too much - After all we were staying in the Canyon. I would only say that there really isn't much opportunity to do a simple walk more than a small loop around the neighborhood - We did the Sterling Pass Trail once but that was once. There was Oak Creek across the highway howeverOak Creek was still showing a lot of devastation from the earlier floods. It was fun to hear it from the back deck as it roared on by. Hanging out by the Creek wasn't really all that great because of all the damage - did see a pair of Mergansers when we went down at the end of our stay. Alice and Larry were wonderful to deal with - Obviously they have enthusiasm for their cottage and the area - and very responsive to the couple of little things that came up. Great hosts. If we are ever in the area again looking for a long term rental the Cozy Cottage would definitely be on our list!

FABULOUS COTTAGE!

May 1-Sept. 1, 2018 We had a wonderful time staying in Oak Creek Canyon Cottage this summer! The cottage is so cute and cozy, it made us feel right at home. Super location, in a quiet neighborhood, with the most friendly of neighbors. The red rock view is stunning! We really enjoyed having coffee in the morning while delighting in the view. In addition, the many fruit trees are delightful! We had the best stay and hope to return soon.

Perfect cottage minutes from Sedona

We loved our stay at this cottage. There are too many reasons to list them all. The owners were extremely kind to us, it was minutes from Sedona, not too far from Flagstaff, the weather was warmer than Flagstaff yet cooler than Sedona, and hiking trails were all over. We plan on visiting this area more in the future and we will always call these owners first so we can stay in this cottage. We highly recommend this place to anyone that is visiting the area.

Adorable cottage, tucked in the canyon very close to Sedona, but a reprieve from the chaos

I absolutely love this property! Alice and Larry are extremely welcoming hosts, and have a gem of a cottage. The canyon is about 7 degrees cooler than Sedona proper, and is very lush and quiet. This was a welcoming contrast to all of the red rock, sun exposure, and activity in uptown Sedona. Yet, Sedona is less than a 10 minute drive. In the colder months, the cottage has a cozy, gas burning fireplace, which makes the living room warm and toasty. Both beds, and the futon were all very comfortable for sleeping. The kitchen was well-appointed, and the second bathroom addition was great. The fenced in back yard offered privacy, and they have just added a beautiful new deck. I stayed here almost 6 weeks, and I will be back every year! This cottage offers the true feeling of "getting away". They have private access to Oak Creek across the street, which would be amazing in the summer. One of my favorite hikes in Sedona, Sterling Pass, is just a few hundred yards away. Thank you, Alice and Larry, for sharing your property so others may enjoy!
