An original country farmhouse, beautifully restored to provide immaculate, comfortable, spacious accommodation with lovely, open country views.
This very beautiful old building has been lovingly and thoughtfully restored by the family who own it to provide a perfect, comfortable and memorable stay to everyone who is lucky enough to stay here. Set in glorious countryside, surrounded by olive and almond trees and fields dedicated to cereal crops, the views are stunning, of sparkling Lake Viñuela, the mountains and several little whitewashed Andalusian villages.
The house and terrace garden is fully fenced with ample parking. Enjoy outdoor life, the beautiful pool, the built-in outdoor kitchen and barbeque in the shade of a pergola cover (not shown on photos, as about to be installed at the time of taking the photos), and even an outdoor sun lounging 'bed'. The outdoor space constists of terracing throughout.
The cortijo (farmhouse) itself has been in the family for generations. As the Spanish families have gradually moved out of the countryside and into the towns, the old country houses in many cases are now empty, and this family, not wanting it to deteriorate, decided to give it a quality make-over and offer this wonderful family home to all families wishing to enjoy the country life here on their holidays!
The house, which can comfortably accommodate 14 people excluding the sofabed, consists of a large open plan living room and dining room, with an open fireplace at the far end for our Winter visitors (very cosy - ask us if you need a delivery of logs) and an air conditioning unit. There is a large dining table and extra seating for large family groups in this room too. A couple of steps leads up to the brand new, fully fitted kitchen, with plenty of worktop areas, a ceramic hob, built-in electric oven, dish washer and washing machine. There is a useful hatch from the kitchen through to the living/dining room, and a door leading out to the barbeque and outside kitchen, to the side of the house.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The double bedroom is the coolest and quietest in the house (very cool in the Summer due to the immensely thick stone walls) with a double bed and wardrobe. To the far end is a triple room, with three single beds and views overlooking the lake and mountains. The downstairs bathroom, next to the kitchen, is modern, with brand new fittings and a shower cubicle. There is also a door out to the pool and barbeque terrace from the downstairs bathroom - ideal to avoid taking wet feet through the house!
The stairs lead up to a bright, comfortable landing, with sofa (sofabed) and air conditioning unit to cool all of the upstairs.
On this level there is one double bedroom (very quiet, and away from the other bedrooms, with lovely views from the window), a wonderful quadruple children's room with four single bed and bright and colourful to delight the children, and a triple room with three single beds.
In any of the rooms with single beds, it is possible to push together the beds as required, to make double beds.
The upstairs bathroom is also modern and newly fitted, with a shower unit.
This lovely country house is beautifully finished throughout with all new furniture, fittings and facilities. Enjoy lazy days just at the house, or head out to explore the area. As the house is just off the A356, it is very easy to get around. The pretty country town of Riogordo is just a few minutes drive away with plenty of shops, restaurants and sports facilities, as well as a medical centre. The pretty whitewashed villages of Alfarnatejo, Alcaucin, Periana, Colmenar, and many others, are all within a short drive, and stunning Lake Viñula is 10 minutes' drive. There are magnificent country walks and mountain hiking is a delight, with stunning mountain ranges very close by. Other large towns and cities are an easy day trip away, such as the fascinating, historic town of Antequera with its many monumental buildings and the ancient 'Dolmens', Malaga city (35 minutes), Velez-Malaga and the seaside town of Torre del Mar (25 -30 minutes), Cordoba (1.5hrs), Granada (just over an hour), and even Seville (under 2 hours).
