About this property

Charming Ocean-Front Guest House on Private 3-Acre Peninsula

Enjoy our charming ocean-front guest house that is so close to the water's edge you will feel like you are on a boat.

The guest house, along with our home, is located on three private acres in the historic Pennellville area. We are three miles from downtown Brunswick, a beautiful coastal town of 20,000. Only two hours to Boston, 15 minutes to Freeport.

Brunswick features Bowdoin College, the Maine State Summer Theater, a Summer Music Festival, a farmer's market, fine dining and convenient shopping. We are a short drive to Popham and Pemaquid beaches, lakes, mountains, and state and national parks.

The guest house features a large ocean-front living/dining area overlooking a Japanese garden and a small efficient kitchen on the first floor. Upstairs are two large ocean-front bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, the second bedroom a double.

Enjoy our herb and perennial gardens and panoramic ocean views, or simply enjoy a nap in a hammock. Access to Middle Bay with kayaking, canoeing and swimming are at your doorstep, with easy access from our dock. Enjoy a picnic on an island and all that Maine's natural coast has to offer: ospreys, eagles, loons, herons, egrets, seals.

The Pennellville area offers a beautiful bicycling and walking venue among historic farms and vistas.

We are also open to home exchanges (which do not need to be simultaneous), especially in Europe and the Caribbean. Our three bedroom house on the same property, featuring ocean views from every room may also be available. The guest house is adjacent to our home, situated in another direction and they share a common patio.

Cozy on the coast
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was very comfortable and in a super convenient location with the water just steps from the door. Our hosts were friendly and easily accessible for any questions or assistance. Plenty of great restaurants and shopping nearby. Very relaxing trip!

A wonderful Maine experience
Adjacent to the waters of the Middle Bay of the larger Casco Bay sits Lynn and Jon's beautiful Maine home and rental property. We quickly found that having Jon and Lynn nearby was a real treasure, as they're knowledge of the area and relaxing demeanor were very comforting. The views are incredible and the changing landscape with the changing tides makes for new experiences, and kept our son and us intrigued throughout the week. While the home and access to the water were the real draw, we found the neighborhood and access to beautiful Brunswick and surrounding area to also be a wonderful bonus to this beautiful place. We would highly recommend this to anyone with a smaller group looking for a relaxing getaway in Maine.

Spectacular View & Super Clean Cottage - Wonderful Hosts
It's difficult to summarize how phenomenal our week was at Lynn & Jon's cottage in Brunswick, Maine. The views from inside the cottage and from the beautifully landscaped yard and dock outside are nothing less than spectacular. The inside space was sparkling clean and had absolutely everything we needed and then some. Beautifully decorated, all you need in the kitchen, towels and sheets smelled wonderful and so soft :) Some nights during our visit were chilly and the small gas powered fireplace that looked like a little wood stove but didn't require firewood (so easy to use!) was just perfect. Jon and Lynn were ridiculously quick with helpful responses when we needed something, and we loved every single recommendation they gave from sights to see and trails to hike to restaurants to visit. Our 8 year old daughter loved exploring the property and found shows and movies on prime video when the sun set. Suffice it to say - we highly recommend this property and these hosts. --Danielle

Lovely seaside cottage
Beautiful seaside property. Loved the elevated chaises on the access to the dock, and the views of the water. The cottage is nicely furnished and has beautiful views from the living room and both bedrooms. While the kitchen is small (as advertised) it is very functional; I did all my cooking there. Great stay, would be happy to return!

Soothing
The cottage is located on a wide vista bay just a few miles outside the town of Brunswick; not down one of the peninsulas. This makes it an easy access and less miles to travel when you want to explore. The owner's house is nearby, but the cottage has its own view of the water with floor to ceiling windows and a slider. Our favorite treat was the dock for our zodiac and the lounge seats built on the railings of the dock for sunning. The dock does lose water at low tide, but that did not interfere with our boat trips. Inside is adorable, very cozy with a gas fireplace, large bedrooms and bath. Kitchen, although small, has all you need and who wants to spend time in there anyway! Very quiet and lots of wildlife from bald eagles to chipmunks....Enjoy!

Beautiful spot to get away from the Hussle n bussle
Adorable spot tucked away in the woods but right at the Waters edge of a beautiful cove. We enjoyed a peaceful week here doing a lot of nothing but relaxing and enjoying the beauty and the sounds of the water and wildlife and the guy next doors patio construction lol. Still sounded better than the highway we live on at home. The owners John and Lynn couldn't have been nicer and we're very respectfully of our privacy. The cottage is adorable and comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy the place and the area. Lots of stuff to check out locally all within about a 40 min drive Max. Highly recommend if you want a quiet get away.

Unique location
This lodging was all that was advertised....The photographs are a true depiction. The two bedrooms upstairs, each with huge windows, look out onto water through some very tall, old trees. It’ s like being in a tree house with water all around! The one bathroom, upstairs, is large, nicely equipped with a heated towel rack, that dries multiple towels at the same time. Magic! Might have to get one for our home! The kitchen was tiny but newly renovated. We were the first to enjoy its design that made good use of the limited space. No oven, as advertised, but that wasn’t a problem for just the two of us senior citizens. We ate dinner out a lot or brought in take-out. The owners, Lynn and Jon, were the best!!! Helpful when needed but not intrusive at all. We already are looking ahead to 2020!

A charming guest house perfect for a week’s get-away on Casco Bay. Close to Brunswick and within easy access to other amenities along the coast, it’s a perfect home base for a couple or two looking to explore the area. Thank you Lynn and Jon for sharing your home!

Beautiful views, privacy, fishing off the dock
My wife and 20 month old son stayed here for a week. The house is very nice and spacious as we never even needed to enter one of the extra bedrooms. It was easy to “ child proof” for those with children this age that want to touch everything. The views from the house are fantastic on the front and side. The only thing that could be improved is the kitchen which is small with no microwave and the fridge is a mini fridge. It was still fine for breakfast and lite cooking but we ended up eating dinner out more than we would prefer. The location is great as it’s very private yet a close drive to so many Maine attractions. We had never been to Brunswick and were pleasantly surprised as there is plenty to do in and around the area. The dock is fantastic for either swimming or fishing in a private setting. The tide comes in and out at pretty dramatic differences. I found that stripers were coming in at the night time high tides to feed on little baitfish. They were mostly schoolies although something did snap my 25 lb test one day. They are tough to catch as it’s hard to get them to go after other bait when there are millions s of these tiny baitfish around. I caught a couple throughout the week on worms and clam. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation on the ocean in Maine.

Amazing views with easy water access
Our stay was comfortable, relaxing and peaceful. The ocean views from the cottage are gorgeous, with an expansive look out to the Bay - as well as an intimate overlook of the inlet. The private dock was so convenient for swimming and enjoying sunrise/sunset at the water's edge. A short walk away is another great swimming spot and boat launch. Situated in a picturesque, low-development neighborhood for long walks enjoying nature. We also loved the proximity to downtown Brunswick, Freeport and Portland. So many great activities nearby. Owners are super nice people too!

Peaceful, beautiful spot on the Maine coast
Spent a wonderful time in September at this very lovely guest house on the water. The house and the grounds--at a gorgeous, picturesque point on the water-- are so peaceful and quiet, but still within driving distance of all the wonderful things Maine has to offer. The guest house has large rooms--beautifully and comfortably decorated---with everything you need for a great stay. And there are so many thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. The location is perfect--on a point with just the water as a background. And it was really wonderful to look out the window at the trees, hear the birds chirping, and watch the changing sky over the water! The owners are so pleasant and helpful, and will make sure you have whatever you need to make your stay just heavenly.

Wonderful Property
We had three generations stay at this cottage for almost a week and we had a blast. We had traveled to Maine for a college graduation and decided to come early to enjoy the ocean. This place was perfect for our needs. The owners were there to greet us and give us the run down and then left us alone to settle in and enjoy the beautiful property. They were extremely respectful of our privacy but were always available to answer questions at any time. The property is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. I wish we lived closer because I would frequent this cottage every year if I could.

Sejour extraordinaire
Magique !

Maine at its best!
We spent a wonderful summer week in this charming cottage on the bay. The views are incredible, the tide goes in and out dramatically, great places to walk, you can even find edible mushrooms in the woods (just ask the hosts). The cottage is very comfortable and welcoming. Great breezes at night, birds singing in the morning, a private dock for swimming and fishing, what more could you ask for. The hosts are helpful and friendly and a wealth of local information. We left with that "peaceful easy feeling."

A Wonderful, Scenic, Quiet Retreat
Arrived here at the end of a short, scenic drive out from the Portland, Maine Jetport. I was greeted by the owners to an awesome marine panorama with views, from atop a embankment just feet from the high tide line, east across the sound to Harpswell and looking southward. The unit itself tends toward pleasant rustic and includes a kitchenette with fridge, two large bedrooms, a bath and a wonderful glassed-in sitting room. A cable TV was available, but I don't do TV, and a small propane heater was not needed in the warm July weather. A short drive takes you to the town of Brunswick, which has numerous stores and restaurants, and also accesses coastal route 1 - the main gateway to the beautiful Maine coast both north and south. The sound of the seabirds and the tidal flows lulled me to sleep and greeted me each morning. Finally, watching the private fireworks on the far side of Harpswell Sound the evening of the Fourth was a treat. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect Maine Retreat
Three of us stayed in this idyllic Brunswick cottage in August. The location couldn't be better, at the end of a little-traveled road and right on the water. We were close to Brunswick, Freeport and Portland and all they have to offer and yet, it was so completely peaceful that we heard only the tidal water and the birds. The cottage is very comfortable and attractive, and though the kitchen is small, we were able to make most of our dinners at home and enjoy them while watching the sun go down. The hosts are beyond nice, though very careful about the tenants' privacy. I'd very much like to return.

Perfect End-Of-Summer Escape
This cottage is very charming and wonderfully relaxing! All of the windows are extra large and allow you to see the ever-changing bay scenery from dawn until dusk. Watching the tide rise and fall and the sky change color throughout the day never gets old. As an artist, i really appreciated the charm of the interior of the cottage- the floor color, furniture, wall paint colors and each wall has original art, an excellent touch. The house was very clean, another thing my family appreciated. Jon and Lynn are so nice and hospitable and never imposing. The town of Brunswick has roadside vegetable stands and many fantastic restaurants but we frequented a dock near by that boils fresh lobster for $1 each. There is much to see and do for everyone- an phenomenal Maritime Museum in Bath, a ropes course and ample antique shopping. My whole family misses being at the cottage! I would highly recommend this property.

Gorgeous view on the water's edge
We'll always have lovely memories of our two weeks at this cottage. We stayed here with our 10 year-old daughter while our older daughter was at the Maine Media Workshops. The drive to Rockport was a little bit longer than expected, but this was the perfect location for exploring Mid-coast Maine--close enough to major roads, but in a peaceful, pastoral, secluded setting right on the water. We kayaked, clamored over the rocks along the shore, rode our rented bikes to a nearby marina for penny candy and ice cream cones, and took day trips to Camden, Monhegan Island and Portland. It was always a pleasure to return to the cottage, light the gas fireplace to take off the chill, and spend the evening reading a good book while listening to the waves lap the shore outside. The bedrooms are spacious with huge windows overlooking the water. The kitchen is small, has a microwave and cooktop, but not an oven or dishwasher; but it was the perfect size to remind me to keep things simple! Jon and Lynn are great people and were very respectful of our privacy. This was our first time using vrbo and we can only hope any subsequent bookings will be as successful as this one.

I Didn't Want To Leave...
... and in fact, extended my stay by a day. The view was magic, the calm waters of the inlet were perfect for swimming and kayaking across, the house was simple but comfortable. I especially loved the airy bedrooms upstairs. There's a peaceful serenity to the whole property -- with beautiful gardens, plenty of comfortable places to sit, read, or just take it all in, and lovely walking in the area. John and Lynn are easy-going and delightful, they made me (and my dog) feel right at home. Brunswick also yielded unexpected delights: a great meal at the Back Street Bistro, coffee and a bite at the relaxed and spacious Frontier Cafe, and a great walk/hike through the woods of the Town Common.

Beautiful, ocean-side haven after a day of sightseeing
John and Lynn's guest house was everything it said it would be. It's a beautiful, secluded cottage that was in the perfect location for day trips to many Maine attractions. The cottage is exactly like the pictures. Lynn and John were so helpful and gracious. My husband, pre-teen son and daughter, and I stayed for a week the first of August. We didn't want to leave. We did day trips into Portland for the Portland Sunset Harbor cruise and a Sea Dog game. We made the comfortable drive to Acadia National Park for a day, absolutely beautiful. Freeport is also very close for a discovery school adventure with LL Bean. We were very glad that we had picked this place to stay after the hustle and bustle of some of the other towns we visited. Check out the Bodoin College Art Museum and Perry Museum only five miles from the cottage.

Charming and Restful
I just spent a week at this cottage, using it as a base for a family reunion in Brunswick. I was there alone for several nights, and then joined by two sons and my daughter-in-law. The cottage is exactly as described - located right on the water, attractively furnished, very well-equipped, comfortable beds and lovely linens. The kitchen is small but works well for breakfast, lunch and a simple supper. The view from the cottage is amazing - right on a spectacular tidal inlet with sweeping views of rugged Maine scenery. I would definitely go back. The owners are accommodating and available, but you have a great deal of privacy here. We loved it!!

Attractive, Comfortable Cottage in Ideal Location
When my wife and I wanted to re-visit Maine, we looked for a place that was centrally located to facilitate our exploring the south coast. Lynn's and John's cottage is it! Not only did it give us access to everything of interest in the area for our ten day stay, it made our stay quite comfortable. We were not disappointed to find that the pictures in the listing accurately portrayed the charm and sense of peace that we sought. The quite pleasant and serene location was exactly what we had been looking for. We enjoyed long walks in the rural setting of this quiet getaway. On the flip side was the cottage's proximity to every place, from Kennebunkport to Portland to Freeport to Boothbay Harbor to Rockland. Added to that was our host's wonderful hospitality. We truly felt like guests when we met John on our first day there as he explained all that was available for our comfort - from the hammock to the kayaks. Lynn was equally gracious in guiding us to local sights and longer road trips. Would I recommend this cottage to a friend? Absolutely! Thank you, Lynn and John!!
