Lots of steps

Property was great. We were not expecting that we had three levels. Bathroom is on first level. Living area and kitchen on second level and bathroom and two bedrooms on third level. Owner was quick to respond and helpful.

Perfect stay in Canterbury

We had a great stay at the Firehouse. The property was outside of the busy-ness of the tourist center, but close enough for an easy walk. The hosts were extremely helpful with their communication, and generous enough to let us drop off our luggage before our official check-in time so that we could start our tour of the area. The property was clean and a great value.

Lovely space, comfy beds, good location

Beautiful building with lovely personal touches. Comfy beds and spacious rooms. Sadly limited cleaning resources (no jay cloths, anti-bac spray, surface cleaner etc) which seems important right now - but maybe we should have thought more about bringing our own!

Private Home in Canterbury

The listing is accurate. The second bedroom's bath is located two floors below the bedroom, but the first bedroom is an en suite. There is a short walk to downtown, but that does mean the property is in a quiet location. We did have some issues connecting to Wifi, but the host was quick to respond and fixed all issues. Overall, a good place to stay for a visit to Canterbury if you're looking for multiple bed/baths.

Quirky house in great location.

Great location - a short walk to the historic centre of Canterbury with off street parking for 1 family car. Website states three bedrooms, but is actually two bedrooms plus a lounge with (double) sofabed. (See pictures). Nice touch for complementary tea/coffee and milk. Good communication with owners. Enjoyable stay - would stay again.

Perfect stay in Canterbury

We spent a week in the Old Fire Station in Canterbury and really enjoyed it. It is probably the best equiped holiday home we experienced with many small details (books, games, different cereals, tea sortiment etc.) making our stay very pleasent. It is clean and furnished tastefully. We would love to come back again. Many thanks!

Great location close to Canterbury centre

The property suited us just fine - it was comfortable and well equipped and everything clean. A short walk into Canterbury which was ideal. Sebastian and Adelle were very helpful and communicated well. It was good to have some basic ingredients, selections of tea, coffee etc left for us as well as a welcome pack. This image is not of the Arthouse but of the house adjoining which is misleading. The Arthouse has a large number of stairs which should be pointed out - it is a tall thin building. We had 2 cars which was a challenge as there was only room for parking one car and not much room on the street parking. Also it was better to reverse into the passageway on arrival as reversing out of it onto a very busy road is difficult.

Love Canterbury! Great Location.....but lots of steps

We loved the city and the location of the ArtHouse is excellent. But we are old and were unprepared for all the steps especially from the bedroom (number two) to the bath (two big! flights)...... We thought the listing was deceptive and we thought we were going to be in the more modern accommodations with fewer steps. We thought the house was clean and very neat, a few clothes hooks and towel racks in the bathrooms would help a lot. All in all, we loved it and would recommend if you pay attention to the steps and know what you are getting into. Owner is very responsive to concerns!

Outstanding - tasteful accommodation, ideal location and fantastic hosts

We rented the Arthouse for our extended family visiting for our wedding. They were coming for the whole week and as a large group it had been tricky to find suitable accommodation in a central location for a reasonable price. From the beginning of our contact with the Sebastian and Adelle we were very impressed. They were approachable, friendly and accommodating. The property itself is very bright, airy and surprisingly quiet even though it's located on a busy road. Our family found it very comfortable and spacious and given they were unfamiliar with Canterbury the location was absolutely perfect! We also live just around the corner so that was a great added bonus for us. We would highly recommend the Arthouse to anyone visiting Canterbury, whether you're a group of friends or a family. Many thanks Sebastian and Adelle for your hospitality!

Quirky, clean and spotless

Perfect location in Canterbury, 10-15 minute walk into town, easy access for train/bus. Property was great, quirky loved the mix of old and new, lovely touch of providing tea/ coffee and ofcourse the love heart sweeties. Met with Adelle, she was lovely, spoke with Sebastian over the phone he too was a nice guy. In Canterbury a gentle punt along the river stour is a must, as is a visit to the catherdal. Nearby, Whitsable for the oyster festival is well worth a visit, we had fun crab fishing at the harbour, St Margarets Bay near Dover and a walk along the famous white cliffs of Dover. Take a fast train into London, it only takes 50 minutes into the heart of London. There are some fantastic places to eat - Ancient Raj (indian), the dolphin and the cherry tree(pub grub) and cafe boho and the best place for a pimms was the bishops finger....

This was a great apartment and fit our needs perfectly!

We were met by Adele as we arrived and she took us through the apartment and answered all questions. She was most helpful. The apartment was bright, clean and roomy. It was just what we were looking for to use as a good base for our day trips throughout Kent. We'd be happy to stay here again.

Excellent base to explore Canterbury

This is a spacious well-equipped house which is a short walk to the many delights of Canterbury, with its wide range of pubs and restaurants. Having its own parking space on the property meant we could happily forget about the car during our stay. The owners had thoughtfully provided some essential provisions, greeted us on arrival and waved us goodbye. I would recommend this property and would expect to stay here again in the future.

Great place to stay

We really liked the property. Although we did not notice during booking that the property was not on ground floor, which was inconvient for my parents, the house itself had everything we needed. Very clean, everything as described, good service and wam welcome from the owner. We were very happy to have our car parked behind the gates. The 5 minute walk into town was a pleasantone and bus stops are just a footstep away. Great place to stay and explore Kent, London and Canterbury itself.

Great place for a short break in Canterbury

Great place for a short break in Canterbury. The property was clean and as described on the homepage. More then enough space for a family of 4-5 people. It is just a few minutes walk to the town centre and the contact to the owner was also great.

Great place to stay with your family

It is a lovely place. The rooms are big and clean and there is a tv set in each of the rooms. The house is also close to the most interesting areas in Canterbury.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

The property is very centrally located just a few minutes walk from the center of town. Everything we needed was there, clean and ready on arrival. Sebastian was helpful and responsive to our questions (and we had a few since we are relocating to the area). We'd recommend this property unreservedly.

Great Location

Nice property with great location for exploring Canterbury. Well equipped for self-catering, nice furnishings, well maintained. Lots of stairs--the entry is into an unheated hallway, all the living space is one and two levels up. Our only complaints were a couple of ill-fitted windows that rattled with strong wind and allowed a cold draft to enter.

An excellent visit

We were a party of 4 adults and we all really enjoyed our stay. The property is in a great location, just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Our apartment was full of character with very good facilities. This is lots to do in and around Canterbury and with buses and two train stations close by you could certainly get by without a car. Friendly owners, a good choice of Pubs and Restaurants close by and interesting accommodation - what's not to like?

amazing stay

Had an amazing weeks stay at this property with my extended family. We rented both the houses within this complex, cedar house and the arthouse. Both properties are unique in their own way, one super modern and the other an old victorian fire station. Both houses were spacious, well maintained and comfortable. All canterbury had to offer were close at hand and i couldnt recommend a better place to stay
