This was a nice place to stay for our weekend getaway to Pagosa Springs. Its not a bad drive to town to enjoy the springs, etc. And it was nice to be away from the business of in town Pagosa Springs. The cabin is well set up with mostly everything you need. Easy to find, quiet, cute and just the right amount of rustic. Perfect size for our family of 3.
Property was located in a beautiful area. the remodel of the barn was well done and loved the wood burning heater. It kept the space warm and reminded me of my childhood making sure ours was well stocked. Very peaceful and quiet area. Would love to see it in the summer months.
Wow- this location was everything we wanted. My husband and 2 fur babies needed a weekend to recharge and relax and that’s exactly what Chris’ place afforded. I loved the coziness of the cabin, how spacious it was and all the fun wall hangings (there’s a beautiful quilt hung up in the main bedroom!). Chris himself is a giving and just wonderful person. Upon arriving at our location we were pleasantly surprised to see the wood stove already had kindling and log in there ready to be lit. This act of kindness is just who Chris is. We made delicious roast beef Sammies, had wonderful coffee in the morning and spent the evening sewing and cuddled on the fireplace. I’ve already sent this location to my closest friends! Chris, thank you for making us feel like family and opening your home to us, we will return!
Lovely

The “Barn” was super nice, looked new, clean and had Direct TV and Starlink. The owner Chris was a very thoughtful and friendly guy. We loved our stay there.
Our family spent 4 days at The Barn and it was just what we needed. The open space and proximity to the river were awesome for us and our 2 kiddos to enjoy outdoor fun. We will remember Chris and his hospitality when we return to Pagosa.
Chris is an incredible host. His property is located close enough to Pagosa to enjoy all that it has to offer while affording the opportunity to get away to a peaceful hideaway.
We loved our stay. Thank you for sharing your place.
Truly the perfect weekend. The cabin had everything we needed. Chris was super cool and was there if we needed anything. The river was right there on property. We definitely plan on coming back.
If you are looking to get away, this is the place for you. 2 nice bedrooms, one with a bunk and the loft which can easily accommodate 4. Amazing host! I will be back!
We look for a place off the beaten path but reasonably accessible to the things that O want ti see and do in the area. “The Barn” filled all our requirements.
Great stay
Thanks.
We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the atmosphere and isolation the property provided. Definitely a great place to stay for relaxation and convenience to Pagosa and the surrounding areas. Chris is right next door and very attentive to your needs.
We enjoyed our stay and really liked the house. Its a nice quaint size with a modern feel. The hummingbirds were fun to watch zip around the place and it was very quiet at night. We would love to come back to do more fishing off the river and to hear more of Chris (the owner) stories!

About the host
Hosted by Chris Durfee
I am a 52 year old contractor, originally from outside of Boston. Been in Pagosa for 30 years now. Hunter. Skier. Rafter. Love the outdoors. Professional hunting guide for Sundown and Rio Grande Outfitters. I live on the property and my rental is my guest house. I am an on-site host, and I ALWAYS give people 100% privacy. That stated, I've also made some life-long friendships through my rental. I've actually built homes for people I've met through my rental!! It's been a game changer for me!!! I've invested countless hours of sweat equity into my property over the years, and I LOVE sharing it!!! Being a host has been a very, cool experience!!!
Why they chose this property
Because it's simply beautiful. The Barn is super sweet. And there's a river in the backyard.
What makes this property unique
This property is simply beautiful. I have private access to the Blanco River, and a private swimming hole. Fishing is allowed, but please catch and release only. Also the property has a large pasture area of approximately 2 acres so all you horse folks can stay here!! Hunters especially welcome!! Awesome big mountain views are to the east, and you can go for a stroll across the street in the national forest. One unique benefit as a local in the winter time, is being located south off of Hwy 84. You get to avoid all the traffic headed downtown from the west side of town, which can be very slow and frustrating these days. As Wolf Creek becomes more and more popular every winter, the traffic is getting worse and worse in town. It can take a half hour sometimes if it's snowing, to get from the west side of town, to 4 miles!! YUCK!! I don't know about y'all but when it's a powder day, I HATE waiting in traffic!! Stay here, and you avoid ALL the ski and school traffic of downtown Pagosa. Lots of wildlife. Not uncommon to have elk and deer in the yard. Mountain lions have been seen too!!! When the conditions are right, I have a great hill in the backyard for sledding!!! SO FUN!!
