About the area
Kure Beach
Located in Kure Beach, this cottage is by the sea. Fort Fisher State Historic Site and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Carolina Beach Arcade and Four Hounds Distilling. Carolina Beach Boardwalk and Odysea Surf and Kiteboard School are also worth visiting. Looking to get your feet wet? Jet skiing, kayaking and windsurfing adventures can be found near the property.
Had a great time at Kure Beach. Teri was a great host with all the information we needed about places to eat and what to explore. Great time for the wife’s birthday.
Location was perfect for us, we could walk to several restaurants and the pier was so close. Wish the beds were more comfortable. The owners were amazing and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
We love the cottage! Perfect spot for a fall fishing trip. Walking distance to great food and the pier. 2 minute walk to the handicap beach access so bring your fishing wagon!
The location can't be beat. Easy access to the beach, pier, restaurants and shops. Park your car in the driveway and leave it. You can walk everywhere you need to go. The cottage has an updated kitchen with everything you need if you want to prepare your own meals. Definitely planning to stay here again.
Terri made our first visit to NC so easy! Throughout the entire process, communication was simple and helpful. Once we arrived in NC it remained simple.
The house is exactly as described. It is clean, cozy, and within a block of the beach, pier, and restaurants. My wife and I could not have found a better fit.
We are definitely interested in getting back to Kure Beach and getting Swept Away again!
As always, Swept Away was everything that our family could ask for in a week long beach trip. Right across from Kure Beach Park and pier, we walked to the beach every day, did a little fishing and cooked in almost every night. Also, Terri was than accommodating. She it always so nice, easy to get in touch with if needed and will be there for all of your possible needs.
This is our third stay at this property. It’s the perfect spot for our annual father/daughter fishing trip. Comfortable and centrally located to the pier, beach access, and local restaurants. Terri gives the best recommendations, from dining to fishing spots. We will be back again next year!
Great location! Easy walk to the beach, pier, restaurants. Sits back from street so it is very quiet. The property was the perfect size for a girls getaway with my sister. Well stocked kitchen (pots, pans, dishes, bowls, silverware), if you want to cook. Unit is behind owner's home, ample parking in the driveway to avoid paid parking in town. Will definitely stay there again for my next beach visit.
We absolutely loved it here! The space is small but so cozy & perfect for a small family of four. Everything is super clean and nicely laid out. Terri is a wonderful host. She was so sweet. Wish we could have had her take our family beach photos but she was unable due to an injury. We were there over memorial day weekend and there was a mishap with the garbage truck pick up schedule & they were nice enough to allow us to use their garbage cans in the event ours became full during the rest of our stay. The cottage is right behind her house but it’s completely private. It is in a great location: a couple minutes walk to the beach & fishing pier. Restaurants & Gas stations are super close which is so convenient. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome. Definitely will be back!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Nice enough with a few issues
So I'll start with the positives. The little house if very clean and has super easy access to the beach (About a block from the Kure pier). Contact with Terri was easy and immediate. She was also very accommodating about towels and linens. The house has plenty of plates, glasses and utensils. There is also off street parking which is key in this area. The AC and Wifi are great and easy to use. The area of Kure beach is very nice with plenty to do. The location of the house however isn't the best being behind the main house and and in the business district . There is a place to sit outside but there is no view (unless you count the garbage pails, cigarette receptacle (these would be better if moved out of site a bit) and surrounding businesses. Many people commented on how well equipped the kitchen was so I suspected at least basic spices and cooking oils. This was not the case (we've stayed in a wide variety of rentals, some have every spice imaginable along with cooking oils; others have nothing, which was the case here (some people are not comfortable sharing and I especially understand this during Covid) . Salt, pepper and sugar were available so if you plan to eat in plan to buy everything. The kitchen also lacked a cheese grater, peeler of any sort and a decent cutting board and knives (there are knives but they are basic and dull) there is a small glass cutting board. The TV is not a smart TV although there is a good selection of channels. Overall we enjoyed our stay but utility in the house for cooking and the view were sorely lacking.
We had a wonderful stay at this property, its close to the beach and pier and had all we needed for a short trip.
Terri was welcoming and incredibly helpful with recommendations for dinner and the local area, and definitely went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
We hope to return in future.
I was very nervous about traveling during the coronavirus stuff. But Terri made me feel very confident in our stay. She recommended a good place to order dinner and a place to buy seafood. I had packed everything but water. Terri gave me a case of water, which was greatly appreciated. My son and I needed the peace the beach gave us.I would definitely stay at this home again.
We enjoyed our stay. Terri and Ed were so helpful and provided information as needed. The cottage is sweet and everything you would need for a stay was provided.
3 tips: 1. Terri is a gifted photographer so if you want to capture some beach memories let her know.
2. If you decide to explore Southport (via ferry) we would recommend Fishy Fish for lunch or dinner.
3. If you are an ice cream lover don't miss Celtic Creamery in Carolina Beach. It is awesome!.
Cheers, Pete and Joanne
We had an amazing and relaxing stay at this property. It's clean, well maintained, and in an excellent location. We didn't need anything during our stay, but Terri was easy to communicate with before our arrival and very hospitable.
It doesn’t get any better. The cottage is adorable, very clean and fit our family perfectly. Comfy beds, a nicely equipped kitchen (I was able to cook all meals), and a perfect amount of floor space for our toddler to play. Just a quick walk across the street for surf fishing and to the pier which was perfect for our teenager but far enough from the street to allow our toddler to play on the porch without being too close. Terri and her husband are friendly, accommodating, on- site and immediately responsive to any inquiry, whether it be fixing a door knob or offering recommendations for local fishing charters. We will DEFINITELY be coming back and highly recommend!!! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!
Perfect head quarters for our annual surf fishing trip!

About the host
Hosted by Terri L. Chabot
We have been Kure Beach residents for three years after relocating from Connecticut, and recently purchased our forever home in October of 2016. The cottage is located at the back of main property, so we are typically on premises or close by partaking in one of the many activities the island has to offer. We are avid fishermen, and spend much of our free time surf fishing or out on our boat. My husband is a professional who works from a home office and I am a photographer who can often be found walking the pier taking wildlife and fish pictures, as well as early morning sunrises. Our son, who just graduated from Cape Fear Community College, also resides with us.
Why they chose this property
We had been vacationing in this area for years, and when my husband had the freedom to relocate, this was the only place we had in mind. We were drawn to it as we are big outdoors folks who enjoy fishing, boating, gorgeous weather, and the sound of the ocean. The local residents accepted us with open arms and made us feel completely at home in our new home.
What makes this property unique
Our new home just called to us due to its location. We are one-block from two fine restaurants and the Kure Beach Pier, and right across from the ocean where I can watch the sunrise from our front porch (and bedroom window), and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
