This place is truly unique! We stayed over the holiday break and enjoyed the phenomenal views, the gorgeous beach and the quiet island lifestyle. Hope to visit again!
Location was perfect. The tree house was charming, with a great little beach front area. Well stocked kitchen, loads of pillows and blankets, and plenty of space. If you are arriving at night, you will need a flashlight and a sense of adventure as there is no signage and it is a bit of a walk from parking. The sleeping accommodations didn't end up being ideal for a girls get-a-way (main bed was good but an adult can't stand up in the loft and the futon was uncomfortable) however several of my friends plan to go back with their families. Highly recommend for those with children! Thank you for a fun weekend!
Very relaxing location. Kitchen and rooms were well stocked with supplies and extra linens. Our dog is older and needed to be carried down steps to the main house but no problem because she’s small. We would stay here again!
Truly lovely, quiet spot. Host very responsive. I've never used a composting toilet before, but had no problems. However, it was a little disconcerting to have to go outside (very brief walk to the bath house) to use the restroom in the middle of the night.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
We celebrated my son’s 40th birthday at the tree house. There were many places for us to spread out and we were drawn to the outside with the beautiful weather. It was a memorable family gathering. Thanks for sharing your place with our family.
Overall this was a very enjoyable stay. The property was situated on a private plot with beach access down a hill. Very serene. Loved how quiet it was, and we never saw or heard the neighbors. We didn’t have great luck with the weather to truly enjoy the beach or bbq, unfortunately, so that was the only bad part. But our dog absolutely loved exploring the beach regardless. Our arrival was a bit confusing, because the house number sign had fallen over, so we at first weren’t sure we were at the right place! Luckily the owner was very accessible via the app. Few tips: Definitely bring slip-on shoes with you as you have to go outside to move between the different levels and the bathroom, which takes some getting used to. Also, there is a chunk of concrete in the parking area that sticks up and could possibly damage cars if you don’t notice it (luckily we did). If you’re sensitive to smells, the composting toilet may not be for you. But it wasn’t that bad for everything else you get in return.
Beautiful property overlooking water. It consists of multiple levels with different rooms. Main area has a comfortable tv room. The kitchen is completely functional and very cute!
You go outside and up steps to get to the bedroom and loft area. All the beds were very comfortable! The compost toilet took a little to get used to, understandable for a house in the trees.
We stayed at the treehouse for our last few days of spring break. This is such a special property. The weather was great, so we spent a lot of time at the beach. Would definitely recommend!
This is our second time staying at The Treehouse! Our daughter came home to Seattle from college in San Diego and wanted a PNW weekend and we thought Vashon was the perfect choice. She wanted the rain and clouds and we had a blast down by the fire pit by the sound and cooked salmon (and popped popcorn!) on the grill.
I love this place because it stirs the creative inside and gently encourages to unplug.
Thanks so much for making it a memorable weekend!
We stayed for 2 nights in February. We’re a family of 4 (2 boys ages 5 & 8). The boys loved the loft sleeping quarters. The ladder leading up the loft was very sturdy and easy for my boys to go up/down. The beds upstairs are secured into the floor, so it’s quite safe up there. There were even some toys up there for some quiet evening activity. The queen size bed was comfortable and had extra pillows. The kitchen had ample cooking supplies. Only thing it lacked was a baking sheet, but we used the large baking dishes and it worked fine. Kitchen has a full size fridge and freezer. It literally has everything you might need to cook. We used the canoe and went fishing but we didn’t see any fish. It was still fun to get out on the water, especially since the weather cooperated for a weekend. Owner has several sizes of life jackets, which worked great. The beach was wonderful. Full of rocks, but that’s what my boys loved about it. We also brought firewood and used the lovely bonfire. There are plenty of posts about the toilet situation. It didn’t bother us. My boys had to be taught how to use it (you HAVE to sit). But after that, they did fine. Going between the different levels was actually great. My husband and I had a totally quiet area to relax in at night while the boys were asleep in the sleeping quarters. The decor was lovely and welcoming. Plenty of lamps for nice light. We loved it! Would return for sure.
We had a wonderful relaxing time at the treehouse. We came to get away from city life and it was quiet and peaceful. It had a great view of the water, tucked right up in the evergreens! We will be back again!
This treehouse is actually several structures. Upstairs (at entry level) is a bathhouse with washer/dryer, tub, shower and composting toilet (which may be off-putting for some, as it doesn't flush, but if you keep the lid closed it doesn't smell and you get used to it pretty quickly). Down the walkway 20 feet is the upper cabin, with a living area, bedroom (comfy bed but a bit tightly situated in the room) and a oft area with two twins snugged up together. Access is via a very steep ship's ladder, which was fine for the adult guests we had two nights, and probably okay for brave youngsters, but not tiny tots. On the lower level, reached by an outside stairway, is a nice living room with two comfy couches, TV, lots of windows and a deck overlooking the water (to the west). Through a small passage is the decent-sized kitchen, with a large table and more windows and deck.
The cool thing about this place is that you are literally in the trees - maybe 50 feet up - so you are surrounded by these magnificent firs and cedars, looking out over the water. We spent most morning on the deck, drinking coffee and listening to the herons, eagles, geese crows and gulls duke it out in fern cove estuary, about a 1/4 mile down the beach (and yes they can be loud). In the afternoon we'd hang out at the beach, down a trail about 30 feet below. Beautiful spot with a firepit and charcoal grill, small deck over the water.
We really oved the location, but be prepared for a bit of exercise!
We really enjoyed our stay in the house, it was a little more rustic than expected with the bathroom outside of the main house a little chilly if you needed to visit once you had gone to bed! But the main house with one of the best kitchens and equipment seen in a rental was perfect especially as we ate at the house each day. We really loved having our own access to small beach area with firepit and grill and made use of the canoe and paddle boat provided by the owner. We did have a small issue with the water to the shower which the owner was able to fix quickly for us, the only problem we had was the communication function thru VRBO which was not allowing me to text replies but luckily i had a phone number so could call the owner. overall it was a wonderful experience and would happliy stay again given the opportunity, we loved the location and thought Vashon was charming.
Even better than the listing for people who like nature.
Beautiful location with big tree along the 2 balconies. The whole place was great but we really loved the waterfront. A seal came up to peak at us!
Perfect for relaxing and getting to anything on Vashon isn't too big a trip.
The location is very private and quiet. Overall we had a nice stay. The owner was very quick to respond to a few concerns (couldn't find the key, hair dryer missing). The cleanliness could use a little work. The kitchen floors hadn't been mopped, and all the dishes we used had to be rewashed prior to using, as they were all greasy. But this could be because the water must be well water and smelled very strongly of sulphur and wouldn't really rinse soap very well. Other than those concerns it was a really nice time. We saw an otter wandering up the path to the treehouse, which was exciting, and even caught a crab in one of the traps with a bit of pizza. The two girls, age 10, had a wonderful time exploring the beach.
We really enjoyed the unique experience of being able to stay in the treehouse. Amenities we as described and one should think "a bit of glamping" when heading to this destination so as to only experience pleasant surprises around every corner. We had 5 total in our crew and fit comfortably. Really loved experiencing this little treasure and the property owner/manager was extremely friendly and helpful when needed! Its a treasure we surely enjoyed!
We enjoyed our stay, beautiful view and tons of beautiful hiking trails on and off the island
