About this property

A cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Old Cottage's slate porch leads into a charming living room with a lovely open inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove. Large comfy ‘loaf' sofas flank the fireplace, so ideal to cosy up on chilly evenings or to collapse into after a busy day walking, chasing waves, building sandcastles!

The kitchen is to the side of the sitting room. The dining table, benches and chairs are beside the window so you can sit and look out across the coastline. The ‘country- cottage' kitchen is fully equipped and has a new granite work surface, butlers sink, cooker and microwave, along with a washing machine and dryer.

The original wooden stairs lead up to three stunning bedrooms, sympathetically refurbished keeping the original wooden floors and doors. The 2 double bedrooms and one twin room have been stylishly decorated with designer accessories added throughout creating a modern twist to this still very traditional coastal cottage. There is a newly refurbished bathroom with a toilet and over-the-bath shower with simple contemporary fittings.

Outside there is a small sunny paved area with an elevated seat looking out to sea, a truly calm spot to relax and watch the stunning sunsets.

When the family return from the beach there is an outdoor hot water shower, perfect for rinsing off wetsuits, sandy feet, and the dog! A further toilet is accessed from the outside to avoid getting sand inside and there is a storage area for all the beach gear to be tidied into.

Old Cottage has free, allocated parking for 2 cars in the car park 100 yards from the house.

1 dog is welcome at Old Cottage for an additional charge of £50.00

A week at Old Cottage
We have stayed at Old Cottage for at least four holidays in August. The cottage is always clean and tidy. My only concern is the cooker and oven, which is getting quite old and in my opinion needs to be replaced. Apart from that, the cottage is adequate for short holidays. It would be great if a washing line could be put up…..we managed to create one for the time we were there, but, not adequate for big towels and wet swimming gear etc Having the use of the garage is a big plus!

Crackington Heaven!
Our second trip to 2 Old Cottages and we hope to be back! The location, just two minutes walk from beach or cliff-top trails, is gorgeous and the cottage is full of charm: thick stone walls, cool in the heat and cosy in the cold. The stairs are perilous so it’s not suitable for anyone with accessibility needs (hence 4 for comfort), and the kitchen is a little on the snug side if you like to cook (so a 3 for condition, although this is not a reflection on the maintenance of the property itself, just the old-fashioned cooker etc). We have stayed in many cottages and campsites in and around Crackington, and this is by far our favourite. If we could give extra stars for the outdoor shower, we would!

Fantastic location!
We booked Old Cottage due to the proximity to the beach and what a great find. We stayed mid Oct and the weather was superb. We surfed on the beach every day and played tennis at the most picturesque courts ever in the bay! Highly recommend taking your rackets, you get the key from the pub £4 per day. The pub is great with lovely food and beers and there is a local shop at the top of the village which sells everything you need for knocking up a meal. There is no point doing a big shop as the fridge and freezer are too small so a quick trip to the shop or eat at the pub, we alternated and it worked perfectly. The cottage is small but perfectly formed and we felt immediately at home. Body boards were provided but we brought a shop full of beach and sea fun with us. Our dog loved it and we went on long coastal walks and the beach is perfect at mid to low tide for chasing other dogs or balls. The parking isn't great but as was out of season we parked on the road outside, otherwise there is a complementary car park for the cottage a 3 min walk, which would have been ok, but a small inconvenience. There is a garage but you need a small car ! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Old cottage and were sad to leave so it comes highly recommended if you like old quirky thatched cottages close to the beach. The outside hot shower for your wet suits and kit is a great touch. There is limited outside space but a lovely sun trap at the front for teas, and G and T's ! a small vertical garden at the back but no need as the bay is where all the fun is!

Old Cottage is charming and within very easy reach of the beach and coastal paths.
The cottage was welcoming, clean and tidy. My wish is for a better cooker....this one has really seen better days! Apart from that it is an easy home to home place to stay. The access to the washing line and lovely swing etc needs to be made safer....it has been like that for all the years we have stayed there, and every year I think that with minimal expense the steps could be made safer.....for young and old alike.

Old cottages
Great location and outside shower is very welcome and utility for wetsuits etc. Could do with a tv though as that was missed, even if it’s just one that works through wifi as I understand there was no tv signal there Great stay though 😊

Lovely stay
We enjoyed staying at this little cottage. Great location near to small beach. Cafe, pub and tennis courts all very close. Direct access to the coast path so great for walking. Although living space downstairs is small it is cosy and perfectly adequate for our family of 4 tall people. Upstairs is bigger and bedrooms and bathroom very nice. Stairs and outside paths are tricky and definitely not for people who find walking a challenge or small children. Outside shower was a bonus after surfing. No phone coverage but very fast WiFi. All in all very peaceful location and a relaxing break.

Quiet breakaway
A lovely quiet cottage, the car parking was a slight hiccup with an electric car but otherwise excellent. The steps to the little garden could do with some safety enhancements

Why they chose this property

Old Cottage is a gorgeous 'out of the way' cottage that sits in a beautiful hamlet, with stunning views across the sea and coastline of North Cornwall. The sandy beach is moments from the cottage and offers something for all ages, with great surf and rock pooling. Whilst the cliff top walks that follow the SW Coast Path wander for miles. The cottage is very traditional yet furnished in a fresh contemporary style with all mod cons - the hot outdoor shower being a real perk!!

What makes this property unique

Quiet, rural, yet with a plethora of facilities in the small hamlet that sits beside the beach.
Bude and Tintagel sit either side of Crackington and offer a huge selection of activities, beaches and attractions.
