All our cottages are self serviced but if you need assistance, we are here to help. Looking for a hiding place in the gardens away from it all? Cottage #5 is steps down to the next level in private location of the lower garden away from parking area of Quinta das Acacias property. This cottage has a new look with double bed for 2 (140 x 190 cm) bedding included, 3 piece bathroom with towels supplied), fully equipped kitchen (with stove top, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, hand blender, all utensils, cookware, dishes, iron and board) and TV with Wi-Fi in the living area. Outside your door is a basalt stoned area to the BBQ area.
The final cleaning of 95 euros is not included in the quote and can be paid in cash at the door.

Cute comfortable place

It’s a beautiful setting in the garden. The home is roomy and cozy, it has everything you need. It had a musty smell which is typical, I kept the windows open always which got rid of the smell. Windows have screens which is much appreciated! It is below another apartment so you do hear some footsteps and noise. This is why I didn’t give it full stars. You can sometimes hear dogs and loud cars in the distance but it’s not too bothersome.

Great gardens, damp accommodation

The property was musty and damp. The damp in the kitchen cupboards and bedroom was evident from the musty smell when we checked in, and the fact we needed to wash all the crockery before use to get rid of the smell.On check in we we were advised to use the dehumidifier. Despite using the dehumidifier we regularly had to wipe mould from the bathroom and bedroom walls. We didn't complain as the were told it was unseasonally damp. The host complained that we didn't complain, which we found bizarre. Not only because it was something we had kept on top of by cleaning our selves, but by the time it reached a bad level the weather was drying out and we spent most days exploring the island rather than cleaning. We were then shocked and upset to receive a message from the host after we checked out about it with a list of small cleaning issues including a small stain on a pillow case and washing up (despite the fact we paid an £85 euro cleaning fee on arrival, about 10% of the whole months stay). In addition the host appeared to be blaming us for the mould in the property, which is certainly a structural issue in the property and exacerbated by a damp climate. We were told we had been using the dehumidifier incorrectly, as it was assumed we had left it on a particular setting. It was also implied that we didn't clear the apartment during our stay, again something we found bizarre. Another accusation was that we didn't open the windows on sunny days, something that was also untrue.

Slice of Paradise

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights during our Honeymoon and had a wonderful time! Ed and Bonita are great hosts - they showed us around the gardens, were easy to communicate with, and also gave us privacy during our honeymoon! This is a wonderful central location for traveling all over the island and a great place to rest and recharge. The lodging itself was homey and humble. Comfortable enough but the real beauty of this property are the gardens and the locations (and the hosts!). Highly recommend staying here.

Perfekte Flitterwochenunterkunft

Ich habe mit meiner Frau unsere zweiwöchigen Flitterwochen in der Quinta das Acacias vollbracht und wir können behaupten, dass der Aufenthalt auf Sao Miguel nicht besser hätte sein können. Bonita und Ed waren sehr nette Gastgeber und haben uns mit vielen Tipps zur Seite gestanden. Thank you Bonita and Ed for the pleasant stay!

Zentral und doch komplett für sich!

Vollständig ausgestattete (Küche, BBQ etc. +++) und sehr schön gestaltete Cottages, die sich über einen wirklich wundervollen Park verteilen. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt und wurden von Eduino und Bonita mit allen nötigen Information zu Sao Miguel versorgt. Die zentrale Lage auf der Insel kann aus unserer Sicht durchaus als optimal angesehen werden. Mietwagen natürlich vorausgesetzt! Wenn wir es wieder auf die Azoren schaffen, werden wir auf jeden Fall versuchen auf Sao Miguel wieder in der Quinta das Acácias unterzukommen!

A piece of heaven on Earth!

Highly recommended by us! We were able to cook our meals and do laundry. We stayed 13 nights and it was amazing! The garden paths are an added bonus. It is the type of place that makes you forget all your troubles and be reminded of how beautiful life can be. Our hosts Bonita and Edward went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and invited. They assisted us with choosing the best cottage for our needs and more. Eduino and Bonita Sousa made a life transition when they moved to Sao Miguel in 2006. Eduino , born on Sao Miguel, immigrated as a young boy with his family to western Canada, Alberta in 1968. He met Bonita in College. Throughout the years they have developed expertise in several career environments. Eduino´s profession as a welder developed into a successful art career in metal sculpting. His sculptures are displayed in Canada, United States, France, Belgium and the Azores. A private collection of his works is displayed in Quinta das Acacias; the only private sculptural gardens in the Azores. Bonita, born in Canada has worked more than two decades in sales, administration and bookkeeping. These career experiences have led Eduino and Bonita into a rewarding business of investment and property management.
After travelling to the Azores on vacation with their sons, they pursued the idea of purchasing a vacation home. In the process, they were introduced to Quinta das Acacias. They purchased the quinta in December, 2006 and opened the doors to world travellers in 2007 with new and improved operations. They continue to upgrade , update and renovated cottages throughout the years for their guests comfort.
Today, the proven success of Quinta das Acacias enables Eduino and Bonita to help outside visitors with the purchase and management of their dream vacation home,.
Our goal is to greet and service our guests to the best of our capabilities and see that they leave as new friends with many fond memories to return.
