JdV Holidays Apartment Azalee - 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom , fantastic view over port

This lovely 2-bedroom bourgeois-style apartment, located in a typically old Nicoise building, is in a great location with fantastic views over the Port and Chateau of Nice. From here you can enjoy the many cafes, shops and restaurants of the port and old town, or just sit and watch the world go by from your balcony!

Approximately 88 sq metres in size, and totally refurbished in 2012, it’s on the second floor (with lift) and comprises of large entrance hall, spacious living/dining room, an independent kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a small balcony. Air conditioning units in the bedrooms keep it cool in the hotter summer months.

It’s very well-placed to discover the whole of Nice, plus the beautiful neighbouring towns of Villefranche & Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Monaco.

It has a maximum occupancy of 4 people (plus baby) and would be perfect for a small family or group of friends, who wish to be in Nice and all it has to offer.

PROPERTY FEATURES

Living room: good size, with lovely wood parquet flooring and great views over the port! Furnished with modern sofa, coffee table, television (French) & DVD player, large dining table & chairs plus an antique sideboard, and French doors opening up to a balcony. There’s also an office area in one corner with Wi-Fi.

Kitchen: independent and well-equipped for cooking & dining with oven, ceramic hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, small washing machine, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board. There's also a small dining table and 4 chairs here. Recycling facilities.

Bedrooms: two good bedrooms, both with double-glazing for sound insulation and air conditioning for cooling; the master is at the front with great views over the port, double bed (160cm wide), fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathroom. The second is at the rear overlooking the courtyard, with twin beds (80cm each, placed together), carpeted, table and chairs & fitted wardrobe.

Bathrooms: both newly-appointed, fully tiled and sparkling clean. The en-suite has an over-bath shower, double washbasins and WC. The independent shower room off the hall has shower cubicle, washbasin and WC. Heated towel rails. Hairdryer available.

Outside: from the living room there’s a small sunny balcony with 2 chairs and sun canopy – just enough to perch yourself, catch some sun and watch the world go by! There’s no parking space here but a car really isn’t necessary. Some free parking can be found on the surrounding streets and there are public pay car parks in the port.

Swimming pool: not available here, but then you do have the beaches and sea on your doorstep!

Internet: connection is available here for your laptop via Wi-Fi.
Telephone: landline not available here - sorry.
Baby facilities: it would be necessary to take your own travel cot, or please ask regarding a local hire company.
Winter heating: is by central heating radiators and included in the rental cost. This property also has air-conditioning in the bedrooms.
Gas, electric & water: all included in the rental cost.
End-of-stay cleaning: has been priced separately, so that if you are staying for more than 1 week you are not paying for it more than once. It is 85 Euros and is paid directly to the owner.
Bed & bathroom linen: for the three beds and four people is included.
Smoking: is not permitted inside this property – sorry (balcony is OK).

ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA

Local shops and boulangeries can be found just 200 metres away, a supermarket 500 metres and restaurants & cafes directly downstairs on the quay front! You also have a great selection of restaurants to choose from in the nearby old town of Nice. There is a great choice of shopping in the department stores, the designer shops and gift shops of Nice.

Local markets are held in Nice and Villefranche. The most well-known is held 900 metres away in the ‘Cours Saleya’ in Nice, adjacent to the old town, and offers an array of olives, flowers and fresh produce. There is also an antiques market held here on a Monday.

Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there is sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging and rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais, and of course the beaches. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.

Beaches can be found just 500 metres away at the ‘Plage de la Reserve’ and right along the Promenade des Anglais 900 metres away. From here you can enjoy the sunshine glittering on the azure blue waters of the Med, watch the many boats crossing the ‘Baie des Anges’, and see the planes and helicopters coming in and out of the airport.

The ski stations of Greoliere, Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are between 1 and 2 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!

Getting around is very easy from here. You have the bus and train services, which have a great network along the coast and further inland - the nearest bus stop is 300 metres away and Nice Riquier train station is also within walking distance. A car is really not necessary here.

Sightseeing is endless; you have the historical old town of Nice; the restaurants and yachts in the port of Nice; a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais; the views from the Chateau of Nice; the Museums of Art in Nice; the animals & plants at Parc Phoenix; the charming Mediterranean towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the zoo and coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat; the perched village at Eze; the casinos and port of Monaco; and the Italian border town of Menton. It is also possible to cross over the border to experience the flavour of Italy!

Other entertainment includes shopping, the casinos & nightlife of Nice, boat trips, cinemas, wine tasting, helicopter rides, or just good old relaxing on the beach!

We loved the apartment. We had selected it on 3 criteria: a view of the port, a balcony and a shower rather than a tub shower combo. The photos did not do it justice. The living areas have beautiful architectural details and wonderful furniture. The apartment was very spacious and very clean. The kitchen had every utensil and appliance imaginable. Since we spent 3 weeks there, we ate in quite a bit. The large dining table in front of the balcony made every meal a special occasion. We spent many hours on the balcony sipping wine and watching the activity below. The balcony is small but room enough for 2. The access to the tram and various buses was also very convenient. We did not rent a car this trip and did not miss it. The train station too is only a 15 minute walk. We always have a wonderful vacation in Nice but staying here made it extra special.

Apartment in the Port of Nice
We were pleased with the apartment and especially the location. The Promenade des Anglais and the Old Town are an easy 15 minutes walk away. We found an excellent restaurant, "Jan", in Rue Lascaris, and, for great oysters: Cafe de Turin, in Place Garibaldi. The apartment is bright and sunny and spacious, with a balcony off the living room to catch the sun. Paul, the UK agent who handled the booking was most professional and efficient. Sandra, the local agent, met us to hand over the keys and was charming and helpful throughout our stay. We told her about a few minor problems: a dining chair with unsafe back legs; a table lamp with a faulty connection; the TV & DVD did not work. These did not at all affect our holiday enjoyment. All in all, we were happy to have chosen this apartment and we look forward to staying again in the future.

Beautiful apartment in a wonderful location
This apartment is beautifully furnished and has a wonderful location overlooking the port. We loved it. We had wondered if it might be noisy but it isn't at all. There is a row of great restaurants below so you can have dinner in a different one every night and be on your doorstep at the end of the evening. Easy short walk into the old part of Nice. The only negative thing I would say is that, when you are thinking of booking, be aware that there is a separate charge for sheets and towels that you have to pay in cash on arrival.

June 2017 4-night stay
We just returned from a 4 night stay in the Apartment Azalee in the Port of Nice. The property is perfectly located right on the port and just a few minutes walk to the main beach in Nice and the "old city." The flat is very spacious and well furnished, and Sandra was very easy to work with. Air conditioning is limited only to the 2 bedrooms, so if you're coming in summer be prepared to be warm inside during the day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and could not have picked a better location being without a car.

Apartment Azalee
It was hard to find fault the apartment. Sandra met us on arrival and showed us how everything worked, then left us to get on with things. The flat was beautifully clean and met all our expectations. She showed up on our departure as promised and it took no time to finalise things and get going. She is a very competent soul. The lift up to the 2nd floor is perfectly ok but it would I think be very difficult for a wheel chair user to get in or out. The apartment is ideally situated for restaurants, shops and other facilities - and the view across the harbour was magical. There is a lot of work underway at the north end as a tram terminus is being built there. This will probably go on until 2019 but it has hardly any impact on the surroundings or one's enjoyment of the apartment. I think my only gripe would be regarding the payment for cleaning, sheets, towels etc. To arrive and to have to hand over in the region of Euro 135 just seems terribly old fashioned and is also inconvenient. Apart from that, if we visit Nice again that is where I would want to stay!

Tall appartment beautiful located
Tall appartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.There was nothing missing and a very nice welcome. The appartment was clean and well-maintained. We would recommened the property to everybody, who want to stay a shorter or longer time in Nizza. Best located in the port there are onla a few minutes to the old city and many restaurants.

Fantastic property, great location, and service!
This is a lovely property, very clean, organized in an unbeatable location. The area is safe, well lit and the building is clean and secure and quiet. There are great restaurants right in and adjacent to the building, some of which garner top reviews in the Nice area. The view never gets old and it is a short walk everywhere, no need for a car. Beds are super comfortable with linen sheets, kitchen is fully equipped. Service was prompt, polite and reliable.

Beyond our Expectations
We just enjoyed a fantastic stay overlooking the port of Nice! The apartment was thoroughly updated, spotless and very homey. With all necessary kitchen items we were even able to prepare a tradition Provençal dinner! The views were fantastic and all amenities within walking distance or within steps of all major Cote d'Azur bus routes. A fantastic beach lies just around the corner and great restaurants just a few floors below the flat. Paul was a great help in planning our trip and made all arrangements and payments a very smooth process. Upon arrival Sandra was very informative and even helped us with recommendations and transportation issues. We look forward to a return trip to this beautiful spot in the future!

Comfortable, light, airy well equipped property
The apartment is as shown on the photos with really great views over the harbour - perfect to while an hour away on the juliet balcony with a glass of wine watching the comings and goings of superyachts, fishermen etc. It is on the 2nd floor but there is a very small lift so you don't need to carry bags upstairs. At night it was quiet being away from the centre of the old town especially as there is quality double glazing for light sleepers. If self catering there are 2 supermarkets close by with everything you need and the well equipped kitchen has a fridge freezer - handy for wine & icecream!! Large variety of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Conveniently located - 5 mins to Place Garibaldi for the tram which takes you to Avenue Jean Medecin for the new town and the train station from where you can go to Cannes, Antibes or Eze. You can visit Cannes & Antibes on the same train ticket. At the end of street for 100 bus to Monaco and Menton or the bus to Villefranche. Turn left there is a little free boat that ferries you across the harbour during the day and then you can go along the promenade to the lift to go up the Chateau hill for wonderful views or continue to the flower market and the old town and its myriad of little streets and shops. The roads the other side of the port contain the antique shops. Paul from JDV Holidays and Sandra who met us at the property were both very helpful and professional and I would have no hesitation in recommending both the Company and their property

Excellant place to stay
The listing was very accurate, but missed that this property is one block from the bus 100 route up to Monaco with stops in the other villages along the French Riviera. The local Manager, Sandra, met us as we arrived and was very informative as to places to eat and visit. There are several restaurants on the same block. The Irish Pub was a good place to enjoy Happy Hour. The apartment was very spacious and clean with complete set of kitchen utensils. The view from the balcony onto the Port is unbelievable! Watching the activity in the port with our good friends and a good beverage was fantastic! In the coordination of this trip with Paul was easy and effortless. He provided me with the protocol in signing up, what to expect when we arrived and finally the process for closure of our stay. Sandra arrived at the time we agreed upon promptly for the final inspection and arranged for the taxi to the airport. Sandra stayed with us to make sure the taxi arrived on time for our departure. We will use Paul and Joie de Vivre Holidays (Cote d'Azur) on our next France trip!!

An Oasis in the port of Nice
Apartment Azalee is a beautiful oasis from the hot and hectic pace of Nice. Very well located in the port with a beautiful view over the water and boats. You can get a bus which is only a 2 minute walk at the top of the port which goes up or down the Cote d'Azur (no.100) and into Nice itself (no. 9 & 10) for only 1Euro per person - children under 10 years are free. Villefranche-sur-mer is a must to visit and approx 15mins by bus towards Menton, it has weekly vegetable and antique markets and a safe beach for children to swim. The apartment is opposite the Antiques Quarter and about a 5 minute walk from the old town which is full of great restaurants and shops. The apartment is immaculate, with a few pieces of beautiful french antique furniture which is a lovely touch. It is spacious and very well fitted out with everything you could possibly need. We very much enjoyed our glass of wine on the petite veranda overlooking the port watching the arrivals and departures of the ferries going to Corsica. We would highly recommend Apartment Azalee to family and friends.

Excellent, and as a returning guest, I would suggest this was evidence enough! :-) View over harbour was the best feature. Air conditioning is not very effective - Mr J from Belgium, June 2021 (2nd visit).

We love the location in The Port the apartment is spacious and sunny, and very quiet. We loved sitting out on the front balcony looking out onto the yachts and watching the glorious sunsets. We have stayed in Apt Azalee on four visits and are pleased to say we`re already planning our dates for 2021. The Location in the Port is superb, with great views across to the tree-covered hillside opposite. There are several excellent bakeries and supermarkets nearby, and the new tram-line runs from the port direct to the airport in only 30 minutes. We cannot think of any improvements by Joie de Vivre we have always been very pleased with the professional, courteous and friendly service we have always received from Paul and Sandra - Mrs G. from West Sussex, Feb 18 (4th visit).

Sandra met us at the agreed time, the apartment is in the prefect location with great views. Perhaps as returning guests a bottle of wine for our arrival however that is a small suggestion. The apartment is bright and sunny and spacious, with a balcony off the living room to catch the sun. Paul, the UK agent who handled the booking was most professional and efficient. Sandra, the local agent, met us to hand over the keys and was charming and helpful throughout our stay. We told her about a few minor problems: a dining chair with unsafe back legs a table lamp with a faulty connection the TV & DVD did not work. These did not at all affect our holiday enjoyment. All in all, we were happy to have chosen this apartment and we look forward to staying again in the future - Mrs G. from West Sussex, Feb 18.

What makes this property unique

Excellent. The accommodation and location were excellent and couldn`t have been improved. Beautifully presented and furnished, clean and in a great location. We loved it. We had wondered if it might be noisy but it isn`t at all. There is a row of great restaurants below so you can have dinner in a different one every night and be on your doorstep at the end of the evening. Easy short walk into the old part of Nice. We just returned from a 4 night stay in the Apartment Azalee in the Port of Nice. The property is perfectly located right on the port and just a few minutes walk to the main beach in Nice and the "old city." The flat is very spacious and well furnished, and Sandra was very easy to work with. Air conditioning is limited only to the 2 bedrooms, so if you`re coming in summer be prepared to be warm inside during the day. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and could not have picked a better location being without a car. - Mrs F. from the USA, June 17.
