Affordable charm

Rhonda and Steve were excellent hosts! If you like vintage, this will impress. Breakfast by the door in the morning was so welcome. This is a hidden gem.

Perfect!

We had a short one-night stay, and everything was perfect. It was easy to find and easy to park in the quiet residential neighborhood. The size was just right for the two of us. It was well-stocked with water and coffee, and the continental breakfast provided at our doorstep in the morning was delicious! Had we been there longer, it would have been nice to sit on the patio and enjoy the yard. I highly recommend staying here.

Highly Recommend

Great location for Hollywood, Beverly, Melrose, Santa Monica and surrounding areas. This was my first time traveling to LA solo and with a teen whom had never visited the West Coast. We were able to visit all the places on our list and get back to our room in an easy and efficient manner (thank you rental with GPS). I'm a conservative/traditional traveler, this was my first time booking an unconventional accommodation for travel such as VRBO/Airbnb style place, I can't express enough how pleasant our experience was staying here but I'll try... the hosts were attentive, accommodating and kind. We felt safe and the location made visiting many places in LA easily accessible. Rhonda had great suggestions (shop for return gifts @ the Grove) and she provided a delicious breakfast each day for us. We'll definitely rebook. -Abbie Fuquay Varina, NC

Bed & Bath Beauty

My overall impression of Rhonda's property is that it was true to, and in fact looked identical to the photo advertised. There were no unpleasant surprises, so I was happy about that upon arrival and entry. Rhonda was pleasant and was there to greet us promptly. She showed us in, gave us a little house info and then she was off and about her own business with her lovely smile. One of the first things that I do whenever I go anywhere is wipe the place down with either bleach or my disinfectant wipes. You'd be surprised/grossed out by some of what you wipe up from seemingly clean areas. I have to say that I am always so relieved whenever the places that I stay at not only look clean...but really are clean! As was the case with Rhonda's place. Keep in mind that you are staying in a ROOM, but with that being said I have to tell you that Rhonda has set up this space really nicely. Inside of this quaint rustic charmer, you'll find that you have your own fully functional CLEAN bathroom with a shower, your own closet with a small refrigerator, blow dryer and several other accessories that I found quite handy. This is a space that can be perfect and ideal for one or two people. With all of its charm, the house does seem to be a bit old, so naturally you can hear some creaks when walking from upstairs and other noise chatter. For me it was a bit comforting knowing that other people were not too far away, yet at the same time we totally had our own privacy all in one. It was just what we needed. I would absolutely stay here again. Oh my goodness, I almost forget the lovely breakfast that she leaves in the morning. Muffins, fruit and juice. Now, how sweet is that. Thank you Rhonda! :-)

Everything was just perfect! The place is beautiful and quiet, the breakfast is amazing (the self-made muffins were so delicious!) und Rhonda and Steve are gorgeous hosts who gave us great advices for some good spots to visit in LA! The property was beautiful and comforting.

The experience at Rhonda's was wonderful. My fiancée came into town from Brazil. It was a perfect location for us to spend the beginning of her summer. We loved it so much, we booked the room again towards the end of her stay. It's a perfect home with a wonderful family..

Exactly what we needed

All we needed was a little home base for one evening while we went to a concert and this spot was perfect. The bonus of having a quick breakfast dropped off on the stoop was amazing and allowed us to have a nice slow morning before heading to the airport. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Solo traveler

As a single female traveler this location was good for me. I’m from a much smaller city than LA but found getting around the city from this location easy. The breakfast provided by the hosts was greatly appreciated. Sky’s Gourmet Tacos is delicious and close to the house.

HIDDEN GEM

This is a tranquil oasis in the heart of Los Angeles. It is centrally located and convenient to all areas of the city. The hosts, Rhonda and Stephen, have thought of everything-from a corkscrew to floss sticks. The bed could not be more comfortable. And, it is a delight to enjoy coffee and Rhonda's homemade muffins while sitting in the flower filled outdoor space. All in all, a most delightful stay. We will be back whenever we come to LA.

Like a Vermont B&B in the middle of LA

Thoroughly enjoyed my 4 night stay in this super-clean, warm, inviting, private space of a cool, old Spanish colonial. Rhonda goes above and beyond to provide a true B&B experience with a delicious breakfast basket each morning as well as coffee and tea:) Good linens, basic toiletries were also nice touches, and street parking was a breeze. I could not have asked for more and as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and comfortable. The location is perfect to get to just about anywhere in LA (I was visiting my son at USC) and I would most definitely stay here again!

Great hosts, great location, great room!

You really can't lose here, even on Monday or Tuesday street cleaning days when you have a car. Parking was never a problem. The room is cozy and tidy, the bathroom is clean and attractive. The bed is big and had a thick pillow and a thin one. Total win. There is a book case with an extremely diverse selection of about fifty titles. If you need to read yourself to sleep, there's something there to do the trick. I'd absolutely stay here again.

Great Relaxing stay!

This place was a slice of simplicity in a complex city that can be overwhelming. Rhonda was a gracious host! She had restaurant recommendations (Trejo's tacos! the burritos are AMAZING!) and was very informative and helpful with our visit. The room and bathroom were top notch, comfortable and very clean. We loved the back yard- very relaxing. Thank you Rhonda- we will see you next time we are in LA!

Great private room!

My wife and I stayed here two nights and had a great time. It's a good sized private room with your own full bath, a small fridge, and a coffee maker. The bed is large and comfortable. There is no TV but plenty of books for reading. The room is clean and my wife loved the shower as it's fairly large and there's no tub that you have to step out of. Rhonda is a fantastic host. The muffins and fruit in the morning were amazing! Truly a wonderful stay.

Last minute one night stay. Good pillows, fine continental breakfast on patio.

All was okay, lucked into parking out front. Bathroom a bit tight and floor a bit slippery as it's all glazed tile. Seems central, but our stay was too brief to tell. Clean and rustically quaint. I'm not a fan of hotels, so this was very good.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, great neighborhood

Loved this place and the central location. Rhonda was a wonderfully accommodating host, right there when we needed something but allowing us our privacy as well. The breakfast basket was a big plus!

Room and bathroom was just what we needed. Rhonda's place is close to CBS studio. We went to The Price is Right and walked home after the show. A little walk but was nice to walk after 5hours at the taping. Nice light breakfast was awesome. Rhonda was super helpful! Nice neighborhood to take a walk!

Thank you -

This room proved perfect for our stay in LA - clean, comfortable and just blocks from where we needed to be. The hosts were very attentive. Keep in mind you are very close to sharing a house - common walls - with the home owners like in the old 'airbandb' days - also at times we had to park up the street. Overall 'A'.

Host profile image
Your hosts are Rhonda and Stephen, who raised their now-adult sons in this house. Stephen's an elementary-school principal and Rhonda is an editor and children's book author.

Why they chose this property

Our home is in the Miracle Mile Historic Preservation Overlay. It's a lovely, leafy neighborhood, built in the '20s and '30s with graceful homes largely in the Spanish Revival style. Great for strolling.

What makes this property unique

No more than a fifteen minute walk away, is Wilshire Blvd, with coffee shops, restaurants and cafes. Strolling along the boulevard, you'll encounter the La Brea Tar pits and the Page Museum with the beautiful park surrounding it. Next is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. And then there's the Peterson Car Museum. If you take a fifteen minute stroll up LaBrea instead, you'll find a lively, fun district with outdoor cafes, Trejo's Tacos, Firestone Brewery, Met Her at a Bar, and more. You can also walk to Sprouts and Target. A ten minute drive to the 10 freeway, 20 minutes to Hollywood, 10 minutes to Beverly Hills or The Grove and Farmer's Market make this central location very convenient. For traveling nurses, Kaiser West LA and Cedars are 10-15 minutes away.
