About this property

BUTTERCUP COTTAGE in beautiful Devon countryside.

Property Description
----------------------------
Buttercup Cottage is a 2 bedroom barn conversion. It is extremely well insulated keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. The cottage faces south-west and so is in the sun for most of the day.

The ground floor provides a light and airy open-plan living area with a fitted kitchen, dining table and a lounge area with cosy wood burner. Full height windows extend the living space, opening out onto a south-facing patio and graveled courtyard that provide the perfect suntrap from which to enjoy a morning cup of tea or al-fresco dining. The modern bathroom includes a shower over the bath and under floor heating

Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms with exposed beams and stripped wood floors, reflecting the character of the original building. The master bedroom is equipped with a comfortable double (4ft 6in) pine bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe with space for a travel cot or standard cot which can be supplied on request.

The second bedroom is equipped with a full size single (3ft 6in) pine bed, a small double (4ft) pine bed and chest of drawers.

The entire area is rich with excellent country pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. We will be pleased to provide you with our recommendations.

The Roman city of Exeter with its beautiful cathedral and green, and Taunton, the county town of Somerset, are both approximately 18 miles distant. For shoppers, either of these offers a full range of High Street chain stores and individual shops.

Wonderful place to stay for the beautiful Devon countryside. We stayed for several months while waiting for our house purchase to go through. Tony and Sue were the perfect hosts, incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend Buttercup Cottage!

Heaven in Devon
Buttercup cottage is an exceptional venue. We stayed for a month and did not wish to leave. Our stay was over the November / December period when there was snow on the ground and the wood burner made the whole accommodation feel warm and welcoming. Will definitely return in the summer if the cottage is available. Tony was a brilliant host, pure magic.

Comfy cottage
Lovely little cottage, very clean and well presented. Equipped with all you need for self catering. The location is ideal for visiting lots of places, and is one of the few I've stayed in where the incessant drone of distant traffic can't be heard. Tony and his wife were very helpful and were on hand if a problem arose. Hope to return at some point, even though the weather wasn't kind and the lane to the cottage a little daunting!

A wonderful stay.
We had a lovely week in the Buttercup cottage. Everything was exactly as promised and better. We felt very welcome with the cookies, milk, tea, nescafe and fudge left by our hosts. The house was very clean and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay and the talks with our hosts who shared their beautiful garden with us. We went fossil hunting at the beaches of Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Walking around charming Kilmington and shopping in lovely Honiton. We also went to Exeter by train from Honiton. In short we enjoyed ourselves and would like to return to discover more of beautiful Devon.

Clean, quiet and very rural
The cottage was mostly very well equipped, clean and tidy, in the midst of steeply rolling countryside, reached by narrow rutted lanes. We enjoyed visiting nearby towns and the tram ride to Seaton. We found driving down the lanes to and from the cottage quite challenging.

Our stay at buttercup cottage
We had a lovely time on our 5 day stay, this is a basic, small property but with everything you could need! Clean, tidy and well equipped, the children loved having puzzles to do and the outside play equipment to explore (although this is round the back of the property, not in sight from the cottage so we did need to go round with them.) The owners are lovely and location is great for exploring the south devon activities. We enjoyed the Seaton Tramway, Lyme Regis beach and the Somerset museum. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice base to call home for a few days!

Absolutely amazing!
I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Buttercup Cottage. The cottage itself is beautiful and very cosy. It has been very thoughtfully put together and there are some lovely inclusions which make it a perfect home away from home. Our son thoroughly enjoyed the garden and play items available for use. The property is in a great location for visiting the surrounding area and the hosts are wonderful. We will definitely be booking to stay here again and urge anyone considering booking to do so - you won't regret it!

A lovely rural barn conversion with parking and play area for children.
Cottage had everything you could possibly need including access to washing machine and tumble dryer. Kids enjoyed the outside space and it was well situated for Seaton, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, all 20-30 mins away and local town on Honiton.

Quiet retreat in East Devon
Enjoyed a break away in Northleigh East Devon, at Buttercup Cottage. The overall accommodation was adequate with all the essential needs accommodated for. Its a lovely location if your looking for a holiday to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Located in a very rural area with large towns 20/30 mins away.

Great place to stay
Location was great. Lovely to have the chickens come to visit. Only a 20 min drive to around 3 different beaches. Owner was lovely and welcome basket was great with much needed milk in the fridge for a cuppa after a long drive. And the cottage had everything we could need. First time in Devon so found the roads a change - the whole area is single lanes. We soon got used to them. One thing to be cautious of is the bees. There were lots around as i believe the owner keeps some. They did not bother us but imagine it may be a factor for some.

Fantastic holiday in a perfect location to explore south Devon.
A fantastic experience from beginning to end. Worked really well with a young family. Cottage, garden and setting are beautiful ( the children really enjoyed the play equipment and seeing chickens roaming every day) and with a host that I could not fault, who was so accommodating. We normal visit north Devon and found the location to be perfect to explore what south Devon had on offer. Lovely rural setting but not far in a car to all amenities you could want.
