Lovely Cottage, Great Location
Bay Tree Cottage is a lovely cottage and Shipton-Under-Wychwood a great village as a base for a break in the Cotswolds. The Cottage is really comfortable for two and well equipped. Parking around the corner no problem at all. Our Host provided loads of information before we travelled and met us just after we arrived which was great, and had also left a welcome hamper with bread, wine and Hot Cross Buns. Thoroughly Recommended !!

John B., Rottingdean,

A first visit to the Cotswolds
A delightful little cottage set in an area of outstanding beauty. We could not fault the facilities, Vanessa greeted us and supplied a lovely basket of goodies for both ourselves and our dog. Lots of walks and local eateries to sample and very well placed for trips to local beauty spots and villages. We had not expected the road to be quite so busy but we really enjoyed our week and the weather was perfect. Certainly we would return.

Bay Tree Stay
Bed really uncomfortable, found a woodlouse in the bed too. Electric shower in the property but the water pressure was poor. Location was good though and the property was pretty. The owner left us a basket of goodies which was nice.

The warmest of welcomes from our host with lots of handy local advice.cottage is beautifully furnished and having a cooks cupboard of staples was very handy.the log fire was a bonus and with temperatures going to -5 was really needed for a cosy experience. The cottage is tiny, and for a short break ideal but for us with heaps of stuff storage wa tight, but that's really our issue!!parking around the corner wasn't the greatest but in these tiny villages inevitable.local pubs were fab and we loved the village was perfectly located for our day excursions.tgankyou for a lovely stay

A delightful cottage with some disadvantages for people with mobility problems
Bay Tree Cottage is very attractively furnished, well equipped and delightful in many ways and we had a wonderfully warm welcome from the owner who sent us much very useful information before our arrival. However, I regret that my recommendation is ‘yes, but’ because I could not recommend the cottage to ageing friends or those with mobility problems due to the very narrow and steep winding stairs to the first floor.

Perfect
Overall it was a really good location for us with the dog. Walking distance to pub where food was good too. Excellent countryside around and not far to visit hotspots like stow and Bourton on the Water. Owner left a really good hamper and very helpful. A massive thank you.

A very comfortable well kept cottage. Only drawback was steep stairs to the first floor. We had a great time and enjoyed Shiptston.

Excellent location and owner. Cottage smaller than expected, with difficult stairs. Very small kitchen. Furniture requires updating/repairing.

Character cottage well located.
Compact cottage with character. Well located for Cotswold attractions. Walking distance of three dining pubs. Pretty front garden with sitting area. Stairs would be a bit of a challenge for those with mobility issues. It is not possible to park in front of the cottage. Any vehicle has to be left in a parallel road. Overall this was a cosy, comfortable and enjoyable cottage to stay in.

Cottage holiday
We really enjoyed are stay at the Cottage. Very central for exploring the Cotswolds and the village itself was delightful. The stairs took a little time to get use to but no problem after several tries. Vanessa was most helpful with the initial details and map. Would certainly recommend to others provided they are agile enough to cope with the stairs. The cottage provided everything we needed for our stay and the welcome hamper was simply the best. Thank you Vanessa.

Well located, comfortable and well equipped character cottage.
Bay Tree Cottage was welcoming and comfortable. We were able to walk to the local pubs in 5/10 minutes and the attractive Cotswold Town of Burford was only 10 minutes drive. Shipton Under Whychwood was itself full of fascinating properties in a semi-rural setting. Vanessa was excellent, providing some basic provisions and on-hand to show us the essentials. Our stay coincided with a very cold spell so we needed to use the electric heating a little more in the evening and could have used the wood burner if necessary. The tiled floor in the bathroom was particularly cold, so remember your slippers. The kitchen was well equipped and all the appliances easy to use. The bed was very comfortable and the linen/towels lovely. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would love to go back again.

Nice, but make it clear that the wood-burner essential for warmth in the winter
It should be made clear in the website 'details', pre-booking, that for comfortable heating and warmth in the winter, the use of the wood-burner is essential, and even then, upstairs was chilly. The electric central heating was on low and the thermostats were inaccessible, and any heat was 'screened' by the 'decorative covers' over the radiators. The approximate cost of a packet of fire-wood etc should be given in the 'details'. We used one every evening. Our host was pleasant and the 'welcome' hamper very welcome. The kitchen was small but well-equipped, with all basics provided, and the appliances good. A drawer fridge-freezer would be useful for longer stays. The bathroom was up-to-date with plentiful hot water, and the towels were good, though the towel rail was inadequate as a heater. Hand grabs would be useful to help access to the shower over the bath. The bed and bedding were very comfortable though the room was cold. The lighting upstairs was poor, and the side lights could be better in the sitting-room, in spite of the 3 or 4 spotlights centre/overhead. The garden was tidy and would be a pleasant sitting-out area in warm weather. Sadly, this cottage was not warm enough for a winter let in my view (and we were out and about during daylight hours). I would only recommend this cottage in the warmer months.

Just beautiful..
We absolutely loved our stay here at Bay Tree. Vanessa was a wonderful host, who even provided us with gluten free treats as a welcome gift-very thoughtful! The cottage itself is stunning, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We visited the Lamb Inn for a taste of their own homemade gin which was beautiful. We didn’t intend on using our long weekend for adventures, more just for some much needed R&R and that’s exactly what we got. Log burner was a real treat, as was the super comfy bed! Thanks Vanessa, we’ll definitely be back!

.Good welcome.
Everything was fine.Perhaps suggest that the open fire facility would not really be necessary, unless really cold weather, as there were efficient radiators..
