Was a perfect place for our Uwharrie adventure. The host replied promptly to any questions I had. The place was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our week. Will definitely be back!
We spent a month in the woods. It was refreshing to be able to go hiking every day without having to drive a long distance. The town of Troy is close and the folks are friendly. The grocery store has everything you need and the daily fresh cooked food is amazing. Your tastebuds will thank you if you go on the day they make lasagna. Although honestly every item is homemade and worth the trip “into town “.
Assuming you are visiting for either hiking or off roading purposes, you couldn’t find a better location. Well maintained house with all the basics provided. Good communication and seamless check in.
My wife and I stayed at the cottage for a short getaway and found it to be a very relaxing and welcoming. Andrea was very responsive to any questions and was a wonderful host.
Little hard to get off road, especially with a boat, porches could have been cleaner, but realize there has been a lot of rain, inside was clean and ok.

Farmhouse
It was not cleaned very well we found an old towel hanging in one of the bedrooms and chapstick on the floor in the other bedroom, we did not have enough pots and pans to cook but we made do, the one skillet had mouse droppings in it now we understand mice can get into your home but it couldn’t have been checked, the owner was a very nice person and the place is very nice but it was hard to sit on the porch and talk during the day because your right by the highway and traffic all day. Outside hasn’t been cleaned up there were two broken trees with branches everywhere , there were cobwebs everywhere even in the house. We would like to stay again but hope it’s cleaned up and more dishes
The house was perfect for a quiet place to stay, and is a reasonable distance from town. The house was clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again!
Wow where do I start this place was prefect for our needs...close the national forest and the lake...will book again this fall for longer time
Thank you
Stayed here for the weekend to go trail riding at Uwharrie.
Positives: House is close to the trails and the outpost. Queen bed was very comfortable. We had enough room to park three trucks with trailers and three Offroad vehicles.
Negatives: Could use some work. Front door and bathroom door are difficult to open. Fridge was dirty. Water pressure is horrible.
Easy place to stay and go off roading in the National Forest.

Disappointed
The property needs some maintenance. The foliage is way overgrown in the front and back. The front storm door is broken and doesn't shut. Both the front and back door are extremely hard to open and shut. I wasn't strong enough to open the back door by myself from the inside. I had read in a previous review that there was a grill. The host confirmed it but it was so rusted that it couldn't be used and the grill tools were left outside. We went to a local store to purchase an inexpensive grill when we arrived so we could grill our meals as planned. As a previous review mentioned, there is quite a drop off between the road and driveway. I have a Toyota Corolla and my car was fine. There is a smart TV with free Wifi and movie channels, which was a nice plus. The property is close to the trails, which is what we wanted, but I would not rent this property again.
Very good house. Near Uwharie trails. Helpful owner.
Only difficulty is steep driveway with drop off from pavement on Hwy 109. Beware of bottom of car. Otherwise we will be back.
The cottage really felt like home! Arrived to a very clean, nicely decorated space with comfortable beds (which was greatly appreciated after a long backpacking trip). It had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend together in our most favorite place, the Uwharries. Looking forward to our next stay :)
I was looking for a small spot near a state park and this fit the bill perfect. It was clean and had a hot shower which is all I needed. Right next to a light-traffic highway, so it was quick to get places, but not loud and overwhelming.
